OK, I ordered, received it, install it.  And I confirm the SFH485P make all the difference.  It works perfect at any distance.  I make a basic (but not easy for me :) ) calibration board in what you call In serie circuit.  So, 4 x 1.5 battery plug together to power these 4 leds.  Now, i'm a pro hahahaha!

Now, I start experience some calibration.  Do you have some guidelines ?  Is the wiimote need to be at head height approx ?

BAM update.

Bug fixed: light position in restored corectly after table load.
New player tracking filter: "Predict v2"
Bad news: it is only usable with "HT w/PS3Eye" head tracker.
This new filter is very good in predicting player position. It completly remove head tracking lag.... but is very sensitive to input data errors (jittering, inacurate timestamp of captured frames). That make it unusable for Kinect or FreeTrack.

1. There is no virus in BAM.

2. AV programs don't have copy of virus to compare. There is too many viruses and database with all viruses is too big. So AV programs uses heuristics (guessing). This is "false-pasitive" alarm.

In some way AV programs have right. FPLoader does things like virus: It load other program ("Future Pinball.exe"), force it to load one more library (BAM.dll) than program need. Things like this are sometimes in viruses. So if AV program search for it, it will find it. Also AV programs have signature (checksum) of "safe" programs. They use this list to: not verify safe programs. BAM and FPLoader.exe have too small user base to add it to this list.

Today was the first time I ever tried BAM (on a desktop though, still no cabinet for me) and I really like it so far - for me the loading of different physics .xml files is the main reason I tried it and also because I was curious about the new renderer and post FX options.

So first of all a big thanks for putting all of this together!!

Seeing that you have a new renderer in there I was wondering if you have total control with that over how things look on screen or if it "just" intercepts FPs draw calls and "messes" with them somehow.

The reason why I'm asking is because now I have hope for a better looking steel-pinball in FP - it already looks better with BAM right now but I was wondering if with BAM it would be possible to get better reflections onto the ball much like "The Pinball Arcade" (or Unit3D) has them.

The FP ball just keeps bugging me by looking more like some sort of glass ball rather than steel in terms of the reflections on it.

Any plans to change that or is it even not possible (and sorry if it's been asked/answered before - I haven't read every post in the thread)?

I belive i don't have control level needed to make better ball reflections. I just mess with FP draw calls.

Ok.... I have probalby all need parts:

1. i recognize all ball draws;

2. i recognize and "can capture/store and repeat latter" draw calls for all objects marked as "reflected on playfield".

For FP i can be "performance killer".

Right now i don't plan to work on it.

Hi, just came across BAM and the wonders it allows. :)

I searched and searched before I posted here and only found one reference to what I am asking.

Anyway to use TrackIR device with BAM??? The TrackIR device is not that expensive compared to some kits people sell for the same price and I already have one I use with my racing rig. :)

Finding info for exactly what other hardware you need and the details of how to set it up to use with BAM is scarce. Then I have to modify the cameras etc... TrackIR is just so easy to get setup. :)

TrackIR really works VERY well and only requires me to wear a hat with a reflector on it. Easy to setup and use. It is also very accurate in tracking.

TrackIR is also already natively supported in Future Pinball to move around the table in gameroom mode...  Just not in full screen 3D mode.

Would it be easy to have BAM just use that data in arcade mode? If BAM can already use free track it should be able to easily use TrackIR data...At least I would think so.

Note: I tried using my Logitech 9000 webcam but freetrack gives an error every time it accesses it. It wants to open the Logitech software then asks if I want to close freetrack and it does this 3 times, annoying. Then it never seems to work consistently. TrackIR works with no issues in its own software but freetrack cannot use it.

There are ways to send freetrack data into TrackIr but not the other way around that I have found yet. I am still looking into it.

Thanks for the great utility. I am still fairly new to FP so still have to learn how to setup the tables etc... to get them to look as good as some videos I have seen. :)

Once again in addition to the post above regarding the false-positive AV alarm:

My Avira Antivirus Pro 14.0.7.342, Virus definition file 8.11.188.58 reports a false-positive on file '..\BAM\FPLoaderOld.exe' in BAM_v1.2-83.zip (and lower versions):

Trojan horse TR/Agent.52224.230

What's the purpose of this old .exe ?

Why do you not simply remove it from the archive and post it somewhere else for special needs ?

TrackIR is just so easy to get setup. :)

TrackIR support will be ready in 1-3 days. ... and no, it will not be so easy to use.  For BAM main problem is: every time, You start head tracking, press key to "reset center", BAM will recive coords in new different coord system (different center, little different axis directions).

FPLoaderOld.exe is same file as normal FPLoader.exe but with different icon. Fan things about AV is, that they first find "virus" in FPLoader.exe when i add new BAM-icon. In that time, they don't have problems with previous version. So i add "FPLoader.exe" from previous version.

FPLoaderOld.exe is not needed and you can use any FPLoader.exe from previous release (well... few first release don't support params like /STAYINRAM, but everything else works).

PLEASE, help me out here, you guys. Up until about a week ago, I had no problems running BAM with fploader.exe for Future Pinball. But now, for the last week, it's always encountering problems, with every version of BAM I install and try to use, my Avira Anti-Virus is claiming that fploader contains at least one virus, and I just don't get it (or how to fix/disable it) being seen as or containing virii. I'm just running future pinball on my desktop PC, and like I said, up until a week ago, this virus thing hasn't been an issue at all before a week ago, I've tried setting the attributes for fploader on Avira Anti-Vius to ignore it, but it still detects the virii and stops fploader.exe loading or running. So, without that running, when I try running any table with ZedPinball physics, fploader won't load. Can someone please give a solution or workaround for this, as it's beginning to do my head in. Many thanks in advance.

you can add exceptions in Avira Anti-Virus.

Click on the tray icon, go to "Free Antivirus".

-> "System Scanner" -> configuration

-> System Scanner / Search / Exceptions (I'm translating from a German installation so it might not be the exact wording)

there you can add files/folders that the scanner should ignore.

edit: hmmmm, just tried that and had no luck... still reports a false virus infection when I try to run BAM :-/

edit2: ok, you will have to do the same thing for the real time scanner... add the BAM Directory to the skipped objects and it works again.

Hello,

First, thanks a lot for your work, head tracking seem's to be very nice on youtube videos.

I tried to download many times bam.zip on installer, each times the archives are corrupted (i tried with winrar, 7zip and windows extractor), unsuccessful. Same issue with the exe installer and older archive.

Have you server issues? Or maybe I missed somthing.

Thanks you.

edit : found the solution, I had to disable avast for downloading and extractig it.

BAM Update.

Updated files: BAM.dll, PostFX.dll

Added SSAO (Screen Space Ambient Occlusion).
New options:
In Simple BAM menu, right under "Bloom" is "SSAO" switich.
In Advanced BAM menu, in [config]->[plugins].

What is SSAO?
It is trick used to imitate shadows in corners.
It is not a real shadows algorithm.
Can produce some "artifacts" but in most cases it give more natural look.

Performance impact:
On slow gfx cards - huge. On medim speed gfx cards (~ $100 or more) normal version should work fine.

One warrning. On computers affected by "black blocks" artifacts on some nvidia gfx cards it will not work (will produce random black artifacts not releated to table geomethry).

The effect is very subtle. It is more visible in BAM grey shader, so i make screenshots with it:

Result of SSAO:
SSAO_levels.gif

I have made 4 versions with different quality and performance impact.
