What a marvellous game. Many extraballs, win of the battle etc.

I don't think, that I get this another time this week.

You bastard you ! Now I need to turn on the pin just to prove to you that a Norwegian full of beers is a dangerous man indeed :-)

Honestly, I kind of expected this - I didn't play many games this week, and last time I played that exact table I told myself that it was something wrong with it because I managed to get 312mill - also then on one ball. Not the pin but my old computer.

Its pinball. No matter how "good you are" if the ball just don't want you to ...its hopeless. But, it is also, a game of skill. One big part of the skill imo is knowing when to shoot the shots and when not to. Ded told much of the strategic parts needed for this table to be played. And Freelunch even made it more clear. If played like that + a bit of luck. And last but not least - not shooting those dangerous shots unless either needed or when you can afford it ( like during EB ) - then your score will improve I'm sure.

Yes, I avoid to shoot the castle with the right flipper, because most of the times, the ball goes down through the middle.
Shoot the castle with the left flipper is save. The ball comes back to the left. You can also stop the ball, if he goes down the outer lanes, so you can make a correct shot
And I shoot for the ramps and the left and right lanes, then for the Merlin kicker.
With the multiballs it's easy to destroy the castle.

But you always need a little luck!

Right on .. Exactly what I found to be effective as well. Pinball, when you play to compete is only about one thing. The score. If you look back into this thread you learn something just by reading between the lines that eg. Ded is using the "faults" to the tables to the extreme in some cases. I believe that everyone can relate when I say that we all want to get better at it.

I'm sure much of the skill that you say we have is more related to that we are willing to wait off and go for the score more - than just enjoying the game. Kind of hard to explain, but what I'm trying to say is that if you go for top score - which I believe we all really want. There are times where you instead of "gambling" for shots, should wait it out for a better time to take it.

You need a bit of luck, then the next more important part is know when to shoot something and what to shoot. Pinball is very much about rule knowledge, and if you can exploit even a fault that is even more impressive. Just look at a few papa videos and you often hear them saying that the programmer didn't really think about ... this and that.

I was just going to mention shooting the castle is riskier from the right flipper.

Well said @Thalamus.

Thanks guys!  I had figured out that the castles shot from the right are less than ideal as I watch a few straight lines to the drain happen!  Last night I was just goofing around with the left flipper only... much better result.

Another thing, Pinball Arcade has spoiled me with its very effective nudging.  I noticed in VP you have to be much more careful when timing your nudge.  It doesn't take some getting used to.

I am glad I joined this high score thread as it gives you something to play for!

I'm probably done for the night, but @gtxjoe what time zone are you in for midnight? lol

I'm back after frying my motherboard playing Lethal Weapon 3. I have an updated graphics card and  I have missed a few tables but looking forward to playing Fathom which was new in the arcades when I was still a young punk.

Good luck one and all.
