Could the devs add Sticky Note High score save stuff to 10.2?  Just thinking it would be great if it was easier for Table authors if it was build in.

Also, what about adding ball rolling sound stuff built in?

rev2815 is up:

- disable visual feedback completely for touch/pen input for the player to save a bit of latency
- as the original FrameQueueLimiter code is mostly counter-productive nowadays, replace it with the official DX mechanism on non-XP systems

just some explanations:

- the first one is only interesting if you use touch controls on tablets, etc

- the second one replaces the implementation of the "maximum pre-rendered frames setting" with the one that you can also pick from NVIDIAs control panel, so if you had this setting at something else than 0 or 3, please retest and tweak that one in the video preferences (it should now actually be most of the time the best to set this to 1)

rev2818 is up:

- Materials can be debugged in the debugger. Open the debugger, click on the "Materials" button and a new dialog will appear where all properties are editable except the physics values.
By hitting enter or the "Apply" button the changes are updated. Every dynamic element on the table will show the changes immediately. The opacity active flag is an exception: this flag
defines if an element is rendered dynamically or not (e.g. walls or ramps). So if the opacity isn't active when starting the player you won't see changes on these static elements.
And as for the lights debugger all changes are temporarily and will be lost when you quit the player.

It feels better and faster to me so far with theses vp settings (no nvidia driver adjustments)...

Do these numbers tell a story?

This is using rev2815 or newer, right? Cause there i changed the prerendered frames setting. Maybe even setting this to 1 can further improve things for you.

Toxie -- Thanks so much for the revision. I'm out of likes, but I really like this! Can't wait to try it this evening. :D

I'm using the latest 2820 and thus far have not encountered any issues running any VPX tables. I set pre rendering to 1, it maybe better, though difficult to ascertain, never the less it's no worse so I'm leaving it at one.

I tested out 2820 today and, although I wasn't sure if I would see any benefit since I wasn't really having trouble with flipper lag, I have to say the flippers are nice and snappy on this new beta.  Nice work toxie, fuzzel and crew.

Best, snappiest, version of VP yet on my machine, Toxie. Way to go!

Adding Vpinmame / flipper interaction code still feels snappiest, but this latest beta gets really close to the same level flipper-lag reduction without adding that code.

Thanks so much for your amazing work. :D

Enabling vsync delivers butter smooth ball movement as usual. But a pleasant surprise is that turning vsync off also delivers improved performance over what I was getting with vsync turned off in the last build.

I love the VP Devs !!!!!

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

As said on the other thread, as there are so many different components adding up to the lag, at some point its simply 'good enough' for the human system to compensate for the lag.  :)

Thanks for testing!

rev2825 is up:

- add trigger wire D mesh to trigger element
- add patch by DJRobX to avoid other processes taking the focus from VP in exclusive fullscreen
- add legacy registry setting "EnableLegacyMaximumPreRenderedFrames" for people like JF ;)

note: the old hack to force ALT+TAB to toggle processes when in exclusive fullscreen is removed in this revision! The new patch works much better (at least on my cab) so please test this.

Oh geez man.  I saw that rev 2821 description already with the source code revision notes on SourceForge (and previously some occasional other JF references), but does it really have to make it to the headlines here - yikes!  I like the ambiguity that the "People like JF" terminology leaves ;)  You do really copy those notes verbatim from over there to here, don't you :)

Thanks for the latest rev and adding that legacy registry option for the ability to test with better feature isolation from the changes in these most recent builds.

Just wanted to let you know that I just tried 2825 coming from 2820 and every table I tried crashes (using exclusive full screen, did not try windowed). I made sure to unblock the exe and all DLL files. I also tried starting as administrator. This is on windows 7 with Nvidia.

Just to test I put back 2820 and all is working again.
