Thank you.  I think it is a significant stage in the development and I'm happy to contribute my time, as so many others have done in the past.

I have added a PinDMD3 to a MAME cabinet so it plays VP better.  I now want to send some custom animations to it.  Does anyone have any examples of how to do this.  I assume XDMD is the way to go, but not sure.  I can display a static pic with Russ's program (thanks), but I want more now. Love this product.  (installed this time without any issues, just plugged in and copied over a few files and bingo, pindmd3 up and running)

with xdmd_cmd I can get a video playing, but it seems to pause for 4 seconds before exiting, anyway to stop that

Several ways, your are not very specific in what you try to do. One is to make a script file and then via dmd-exe run pictures with the wait option. Other is kind of what I did with alternative dmd color videos over at randr site. Compose a video from pictures via ffmpeg. For Pindmd3 you should keep the image sizes down to its native resolution of 128x32.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

xdmd_cmd can play avi and other video files fine.  only problem now is the 4 second delay at end of every video using xdmd_cmd.  I think I can only play individual png files with dmd-ext.  Anyone have avi playing correctly without ending delays?

Yes, I believe your are correct. dmd-ext, as I understand it can only play "images" right now.

What about animated gif's? You could convert your video to an animated gif instead.

good idea, but gifs son't seem to play.  I found a workaround using avi's and killing the program at the end of play, thus eliminating the 4-6 second pause at the end.  Not perfect, but seems to work.  I wish I could get XDMD to compile and change xdmd_cmd, but I get many errors when bringing into VS2012.  If anyone could help me out compiling this I would be very grateful.  Or any other ideas.  This seems like such a cool project for my mame cabs.  Will post videos soon

I would expect lucky1 to be able to help you on the compiler. Can't see how he could not being able to make those xdmd* dll he distributed a while back. Best bet to reach him would be over at the other site.

I think Tom Speirs is the right person to contact. He is the author of the xdmd_cmd tool. This problem has nothing to do with the

DLL lucky1 published. Contact him on gameex.info

Yeah. But, this isn't actually a problem. I agree. Either one of those guys could probably help out :)

About compiling, I think you have to install VS2008 because it uses V2.0 of the .NET framework.

Download dmdext by Freezy - look in the dmddevice.ini - there is settings there for enabling pindmd3 + setting the correct com port. Firmware 1013 seems to be OK.
