Ok.

Sometimes people still have problems to install/setup VP/VPM at all and this is the little advanced thread to solve later problems, that can occur anywhere and anytime. Can be result of new OS, new hardware, using different versions of the programs, ... and what else. I'm not free of having some problems myself here and there (e.g. lately VP-Man under Win7 64bit), so I always try to spread information, if I think it could be from further help.

Actually I have a nearly new clean PC and a nearly new clean OS, so I can mostly (but not exclusively) exclude faults done by myself. So I just take the chance to report about errors that occur and try to offer a solution. That's all.

As you can see in the screenshots I didn't play most of the tables on this PC and OS before and it's just fact that in several tables the DMD isn't rotated correctly (without to change the wrong lines in the script before or windows registry set to read-only or ...). I will use this thread as help databse for myself in future.

I have tryed everything mentioned in this topic but I cant get the DMD to rotate in LOTR
these are the settings:

Controller.Games("lotr").Settings.Value("sound")=1
Controller.Games("lotr").Settings.Value("samplerate")=44100
Controller.Games("lotr").Settings.Value("synclevel")=1
Controller.Games("lotr").Settings.Value("dmd_pos_x")=1
Controller.Games("lotr").Settings.Value("dmd_pos_y")=1
Controller.Games("lotr").Settings.Value("dmd_width")=259
Controller.Games("lotr").Settings.Value("dmd_height")=67

adding an other line with "rol" = 1 doesnt work some how

Any help is most welcome

Hi Mike E,

which table version do you use? I've just unzipped both FS table versions (JPSalas 2.1 and Megapin 1.4)
into the table folder and load them into VP to view the table scripts.

I can't find the lines you posted in both table scripts so I don't know where you tried to add your additional
line. As I already stated before I don't have a clue about table scripts if there's more to do than to change
a value from 0 to 1 or so, so personally I would try the registry method without any changing in the script,
even if JPSalas table already comes with some script lines in the table init, which are commented out.

Next I will try JPSalas table, check the DMD rotation and try to rotate it if needed and post the result.

DMD was to rotate left 90° in JPSalas table. I tried this:

In line 64 I removed the ' in front of the script text so it's not commented out anymore.
Text colour changes from green to black. Then I replaced the 0 with the 1. The line reads
this afterwards:

.Games(cGameName).Settings.Value("rol") = 1

Closed the script, saved the table/changes, load and started the table again and --> works.

I use LOTR vp9 version, and can't find that line.
the DMD is rotated 90 to the right and is on the left side on the screen.

Mike E, if you can't name the table you use, I can't help. There are four LOTR table versions for VP9 available, two 4:3 table versions and two 16:9 table versions.
Nevertheless I made the effort to post you the solution to rotate the DMD in JPSalas FS table. I'm not willing to make further efforts than I already did, if you aren't
willing to name the table you use at all.

As the lines you posted aren't used in the two 16:9 FS (fullscreen) tables, you most probably use a 4:3 table. If that's the case I don't understand why you want
the DMD to be rotated at all.

Hello Yogiholtzer,

I have the following tables downloaded now and they all got the same problem: LOTR VP9-2.1vpt, LOTR V1.4 megapin, LOTR VP9\VP9.vpt
the tables play fine but they all got the DMD rotated 90 to the right so I can't see the score.
I tried your solutions but nothing changes.

hi,

in the line "games("lotr_ ").settings.value("ror")=0
or ("rol")=1
or ("rol")=0
or ("ror)=1

search the good position with that.

or the name of the rom is not exact, see in your "ROM"

Mmh? I still can't find these lines in the table script. Which table version exactly?

If all the previous tries didn't work, I would check the registry next.

Start regedit as described in my first post in this thread, navigate to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Freeware\Visual PinMame\lotr

and make sure that the rol and ror values are set like in the screenshot.

I just downloaded destruks 4:3 table version, table name LOTR VP9.vpt. How can I know that you mean a 4:3 table? Or is it from destruks spanned table version? Maybe/probably with the same script.

However, I just tested both 16:9 tables and destruks 4:3 table. All of them display the DMD rotated left 90°, if the table script is untouched and the registry values are set as to see in my screenshot.

Now I don't know what can be wrong.

By guess:

Do you use another rom than the default rom? A language variant (lotr_fr, lotr_gr, lotr_it or lotr_sp)? Then you should check the registry once again and evemtually correct the values in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Freeware\Visual PinMame\lotr_fr, lotr_gr, lotr_it or lotr_sp.

Do you use the actual versions of VP and VPM?

Did you play LOTR before in VP 8 and previous VPM versions? Maybe it's worth to try to delete all LOTR registry entries using regedit. They will be created new when you play LOTR next.

What's all stored in the lotr.cfg and lotr.nv? Maybe it's worth to try to delete these files from the Visual PinMAME subfolders cfg and nvram? They will be created new when you play LOTR next.
You would lose your personal highscores by doing so.

What else?

It's all 'maybe'. If you aren't sure what and how to do, ask before you continue. Else please report.

You play the 4:3 table on a rotated monitor?

I play the tables on a normal wide screen monitor and dont rotate it.
I have the default rom, and deleted the lotr.cfg and lotr.nv , deleted all lotr.tables and reinstalled the destrukt 4:3 table but no change.
Think I have to get used to a rotated DMD

But then you don't want the DMD rotated at all, or?

I guess I still don't understand what's your aim.

Is it this: You want to play the 4:3 table on a not rotated 16:9 widescreen monitor and the DMD is rotated,
but you want it not to be rotated?

Then the registry values I posted above aren't correct. You should change the 'rol' and 'ror' values to 0.
It has been shown that the registry values once set can't be changed by the table script.

Did you really check the registry at all? Please post a screenshot with your values.

Hi Yogiholzer

If you look at the 3e table ( the one from destrukt) in your examples you see what I mean.
Like I said I tried everything but cant get it to change,it stays vertical like in your post.
the tables play fine and it is one of my favorites I just cant read the score.

This thread was originally meant as help for people who want to play 16:9 full screen tables, where the DMD isn't rotated and because of that it is displayed vertical. On a rotated 16:9 monitor of course. You posted here with a bit different concern in mind, but didn't deliver the needed information (or I wasn't able to realise that first, sorry). If you would have asked: Hi yogi, I want to play destruks LOTR 4:3 table on a 16:9 non rotated monitor, but the DMD is rotated (left or right)/is displayed vertical and I can't get it displayed correct, I could have saved much time and patience.

So why can I rotate the DMD in destruks table and you not? I already posted the solution in my previous post. Set rol and ror to 0. Use original table script.

Again please post a screenshot with your registry values as I did before too.

Hi to all, i have a similar problem, with tables instead of DMD.

I downloaded various tables, es World Cup Soccer 94 FS. DMD is ok, but playfield, is not rotated 90 degrees left, but it's in "vertical 4:3".

How can i rotate?

I want to fit playfield in a 16:9 Vertical Widescreen Monitor.

Any suggestions?

Regards

Suggestion: Load/start/run the table in Visual Pinball 9.xx (any).

I just load the table in VP 9.07 here and it's displayed in the designated way.

The DMD needs to be rotated 180°. I didn't try as I don't want to play it now
and none asked.
