CarnEvil is one of those MAME games that require the .chd file.

Yup, and it's one that actually plays right. Along with Area 51

A quick question, is there a site that lists all the MAME games one could have legally without having to own the actual arcade game? Would love it if certain arcade games were on that list. biggrin.gif

I could have been smart, but I never learned anything by being smart!

Actually there was litigation to make ROM images legal about 3 years ago, dunno if it ever went through or not. As far as legal ROMS, so far the only ones are here: http://mamedev.org/roms/

The MAME site use to host the legal rom dumps, I don't know if they still do. Maybe 3. Robby Robo or what ever it's called is one. Nothing I would go to the trouble of clicking on.

Major Havoc! - prototype game that is very, very cool and unique in gameplay

Alien Syndrome - cool sound effects!

The Pac-Man series
Galaxian
Anteater - overlooked game with addictive gameplay

Carnival - cool sound effects!

Gorf - A mix of the biggest hits of the time.. Galaxians, Tempest, Space Invaders, etc

Gyruss - the best shooter in history IMO

Satan's Hollow - Cool powerups!

Juno First - Totally overlooked game! Fast and engrossing.

Lunar Rescue - Very old but cool little game. Be sure and grab the cool artwork and samples for the full experience.

Moon Cresta - always wondered what game was making those cool sounds in the comic book shop in the film The Lost Boys?

I'm using the topgun 2 from playasia: http://www.play-asia...en-70-16s7.html

Kind of cool, comes with two infrared strips you mount on either side of your monitor. Doesn't matter if your running a TV, LCD or game monitor. It works with all. Kind of a pain to set up, but if your patient it works great. Only problem with it is you have to stand 3x the distance away (3x the width of your monitor)

If I was to do it again, I would go with the Act Labs USB gun: http://www.act-labs....oducts/gun1.htm

I have tried the old Guncon II ones from the playstation 2 and they work also. But it's real finicky about resolution.: http://www.amazon.co...n/dp/B0009XZZ9O

If you guys get any of these guns (except the act labs) I have the drivers and software which you can't get anymore. Just ask.

Sorry for the hijack.

I have a Guncon and it won't work. I have PSX to USB adapters and am using my PS2 controllers for MAME. They work but the Guncon won't. Do I have to configure it? If so, how?
