I bet. I'd love to see how honing my skills in virtual would add up to a real table some day, especially in one of my favorites where I can actually tell the difference instead of just being new to the table. Sadly, the real thing's been a dying breed for some time now.

Just love this on the PS3 and 360, got a copy for both TVs when I seen the PS3 version discounted!

Best pinball console sim I've ever played, hope more is to come.

I think Stern would do well to release new tables as PS3 downloads.
Virtual ones only make me want the real one even more.

So far I have completed the wizard goals on
No Good Gofers
Black Knight
Firepower

Finally got over 100M on MM yesterday.

Anyone have a REAL NGG they want to sell, love that table, great family fun game.

PS3 owners have a much better option with Zen Pinball, available for download. All original tables. I've only played the demo table, but it was pretty decent. The full purchase includes 4 tables and customizable options for table slope, etc. Much better than Pinball FX.

Pinball FX (360) and Zen Pinball (PS3) are made by the same company, Zen Studios.
The Street Fighter table is available on BOTH versions and is NOT the same as the real table.

Pinball FX ($10/800 Microsoft Points) includes:
Agents, Speed Machine, and Xtreme (Black Knight ripoff)
you can download Buccaneer for free
Also available for MS points: Street Fighter, Nightmare Mansion, Earth Defense, Excalibur, and Rocky and Bullwinkle (not the real table)

Zen Pinball ($10, recently on sale for $5) includes:
Shaman, Tesla, V12, and El Dorado (also not the real table)
You can pay to download Street Fighter and Ninja Gaiden tables as well.

If you like digital pinball, you could hardly do worse than to spend $10 on these, or just watch for them on sale.
I bought both, and enjoy them plenty.

If you never picked up Pro Pinball Trilogy (PS2/XBOX/PC/Dreamcast) I highly recommend seeking it out as well.
Some of these could be real tables as far as complexity goes. The Web, Timeshock!, Big Race USA, and Fantastic Journey

I also recently purchased Williams Collection for 360 and absolutely LOVE it.
Gamestop sells PS3/360 NEW for $10, used for $9, if you can find it (check the links for local availability).
Buy it for 360 or PS3 if you can, they are in HD, have online leaderboards and add No Good Gophers, Tales of the Arabian Nights, and Medieval Madness.
Obviously those upgrades alone makes them better. If you don't have the latest system, the Wii/PS2/PSP/XBOX versions are decent.

I never bought the Gottlieb collection as I don't like any of the games in there, except Black Hole.
HOWEVER this recommendation was made to me by someone else, who obviously likes EM machines.
"the Gottleib collection is worth a look. It's got the 30's Playboy, Central Park and Strikes & Spares. The real gem in that collection though is 'Goin' Nuts'. A prototype machine based around timing and multiballs. Really great game with some very unique ideas. Worth picking up if you're a pinball fan."

Seriously? They're both made by Zen Studios? I never would have guessed. The 360 tables aren't anywhere near as well-made as the Zen Pinball PS3 tables. Since I wrote this, I've purchased the Zen Pinball set and can't say enough about it! Intricately detailed, fun to play, looks great in HD... even allows for some customization through the DMD menus. To compare it to some golden oldies, Zen Pinball offers some of the customization and detail of the Pro Pinball series and some gonzo fun playability of Balls of Steel. As Raiser stated, it's hard to go wrong with the purchase price for some true pinball fun on the PS3!

Keep in mind that they had a couple of extra years to polish Zen Pinball compared to Pinball FX.

After lots and lots of playing of PHOF Williams, I have come to the conclusion that it's easier than it's real life counterparts. Visited a bar with a Medieval Madness and had my derriere kicked. Don't know, what is your opionion on this?

PS A follow-up to PHOF has been announced for 2012, no further details.

the games are way much more easy on ps3 than in real life, of course.
i make 400.000.000 on MM, and on the real machine my record is 90.000.000!
lol

The question is, are they easier on PS3 or easier on VP? When comparing the tables on PHOF, I'm about split down the middle; half of them I score higher on VP, the other half are a lot easier on PHOF. Be interested to hear what experience others have!
I haven't heard anything about a new PHOF, either... but I sure hope it's a Bally version!

well it depends on the author or table on VP.
the only thing is on ps3's PHOF the physics are similar to all tables. and they are so good smile.gif

and yeah, hope it is a Bally version!

The physics really are good! Even compared to other pinball games like the Zen Studios tables don't quite have the physics nailed down like WPHOF. My one slight grumble is that they don't let you adjust the nudging. On VP I've always set mine to push left/nudge left... and this is not the case on WPHOF! Took a lot of retraining to get used to it! Did some Googling and couldn't find a word about a potential 2012 release. Hope CuriousDan can fill in some details.

you cant adjust the nudge side, but is pretty realistic. when you hit the table in the left, the ball goes left...
but the left there is pushing the stick to the right. well, that is like hitting the table in the left side. you hit from left to right. good theory, hm?
you can adjust its power though, that is good.
unfortunatly you cant adjust the dmd size and positioning. crap!
but the whole game is so good, so realistic, that makes up for it.

yeah waiting on Dan to say something. you cant throw a bomb like that and shut up? biggrin.gif

It would suck to see Twilight Zone, Theatre of Magic and Attack From Mars. with out roms. TZ is a little to deep to pull off with out the rom part running on something like pinmame.

They seemed to pull off the rom games on the Williams collection pretty well. They did Medieval Madness fine and that's pretty much Attack From Mars with a castle. smile.gif

They used the real roms for TOTAN, MM, and NGG. The roms were altered just a bit to work properly with the format, done by Steve Ellenoff who worked on VPM. The other tables were released on the PS2 a while back and were done without roms. I suspect that any new tables from here on out would use roms. I doubt there will be any licensed games. They were supposed to have Monster Bash for the Williams Collection but couldn't get it approved by Universal Pictures. I'd really like to see some Ballys.

Sorry guys, I actually forgot I had written in this thread until I re-visited this forum. The announcement was made on the Facebook page with the same name as the game. I don't know if it was Bobby King the lead designer, who sometimes visits the page or the admin, but here's the text from Sept 1st:

"FarSight Studios is extremely proud to announce that we will be releasing a new pinball game in early 2012! We’ve been busy acquiring licenses, building new tables, and developing our technology on many platforms (including iPhone, iPad, and Android). We welcome all comments and table suggestions (we keep a running tally of all requests). We want to ensure that our game will be the definitive collection of classic pinball! Stay tuned for updates over the next few months!"

Needless to say, there was a flood of suggestions what tables they should include next... rolleyes.gif

And today Oct 14th:

"The FarSight guys will be at the Pinball Expo next week in Chicago and will be making another announcement that we'll post here as well."
