Hi Jarr.

Thanks for looking at this. I followed the directions (I think) and ran the 4 Square DB2S through your script, but it appears that not all of the reel sounds were disabled. A good deal of them were, but some still remain. Below is a link to that updated DB2S where I was hoping all of the sounds would be disabled:

Could you please take a look and see if the script addressed everything it should have?

Thanks again.

might do a quick check to make sure they are not in the table?

rename the backglass a sec and run table, see if sound still present when no backglass to load.

Ok, will check. Though I saw similar things as wiesshund mentions above.

Meanwhile I had a chat with JP, and we discussed this to become controlled through the table script instead. This way the table author can decide if the builtin reel sounds should trigger or not.

What I want to avoid is adding it as a setting in B2S, cause it will become yet another more complex setting which will be asked over and over again in the forums yet another time?

B2SSet sound 0 would be nice

I feel like adding it to the Windows volume mixer is actually the best solution if that's possible.

I feel like adding it to the Windows volume mixer is actually the best solution if that's possible.

I dont know of you can, given the way b2s plays sounds, indirectly.

like for example if i just tell windows hey call up wmplayer.ocx and play this sound
it wont show up as a separate thing to change audio on, because windows just generically played a sound.

Not to mention that would be a global

which would be detrimental to a table where the author just wants to let b2s deal with the reel sounds and does not want to put them into the table.

but i think you would have to entirely change how b2s plays sound to have it appear in sound manager.

seems not worth the effort if you can just put in a table B2SSet audio 0, and have it silent.

Well, I would just want to reduce the volume a bit.  I wouldn't really care what the solution is, in the long run, if it could get me there.

Well, I would just want to reduce the volume a bit.  I wouldn't really care what the solution is, in the long run, if it could get me there.

that's easy enough
normalize the source audio at say -10db?
then recompile b2sserver, or b2s designer, which ever one contains the actual source audio file.

I mean personally, i would not care if the audio ability was snipped off so that it simply did nothing anymore.

but then there would be a group raising complains that now they have no reel sounds.

Not that that is hard to fix, just look at any EM table that does bells, and copy how it does it, but use a reel clicker sound.
Call it a learning experience?

Hi wrd1972,

Thank you, I have downloaded your example. You must have run it with an earlier version that wasn't finished.

I downloaded B2SServer-2.0.4-952712f-Release-win-x86.zip from https://github.com/v...runs/6478495502 and unzipped the B2STools folder.
Then I dropped the original "4 Square" directb2s file onto the directb2sReelSoundsONOFF.cmd file.

This produces "4 Square (Gottlieb 1971)-updated.directb2s", which is the same file but with all the built-in sounds disabled.

When I ran this with the original table, there was still a lot of noise coming from the table, so I deleted ALL the sounds and ran it again. Now it is completely quiet.

Hey Jar,

When you have a sec, can you please look at this backglass:

https://www.vpforums...14c77e449def617

It wont work with you script that strips the Kachunk sound effect. Curious what needs to be done to remove those sounds for this one. Maybe the script can be updated to work with the nuisance of this backglass.

BTW, I am loving what you did here. Thanks again.

Hello ALL;

in the meantime I gained some experiences with Jarr3's tool. As maybe known I am a big fan of Jeff Whitehead's tables. And the results are very satisfying with all brands, because Jeff used in his sound collection very harmonious EM- and brand- typical tones for the reel clicks. Together with my score memory (after start of the emulation the table loads back the scores indicated when left the game) the effect is additionally improved. For one flaw I could not find a solution, the reset sound and the reset depiction on the BG are not 100% synchronous. But something must remain when I will be retired

All the best regards ... and again special thank to Jarr3, sincerely Christian.
