Is it possible to do the 64bit upgrade with only the following - VPX, VPinMame, B2S? I don't have any of the other apps loaded on my computer - I tried in the past to use PUP, but it caused my DMD to stop working.

Yes, just grab the 64bit builds of those 3 things

If you’re a baller installer user… they’re working on a new installer so hold tight for that.

Thank you for remembering us noobs whom are big enthusiasts (not to mention supporting the industry with many quarters, digital purchases (FX & Zaccharia), plus a Stern Godzilla on order).

I followed Smaug's marvellous instruction video and updated my Visual Pinball X to 64 bit on my WIn10 MSI Nightblade. Together with Nailbuster's Pinup driver everything worked fine! (VPinballX 10.7.4-404).

Now I tried the same on my Win11 Dell Convertible and it worked with 32bit (both VPinballX 10.7.4-404 and 10.8.0.890) but NOT with 64bit!

When I start the 64bit-exe. I get the famous

"The Application Was Unable To Start Correctly (0xc00007b)"

I tried the obvious solutions, but none worked.

Has anybody a special hint?

Maybe you're missing some components?

https://www.heise.de...in-one-runtimes may(!) help? (no need to select JAVA or Silverlight or Adobes SDKs and such crap though)

Thanks, nice idea.  I'll try to find a newer version.

Are you using vpx64 with Windows 11?

Good hint, directX runtimes were outdated or missing. Now everything's fine. Thanx again

Thanks to everyone who works on this stuff!

Is there a technique to keeping both the 32 bit and 64 bit pup drivers working together?  I have a table which should not be named, that doesn't seem to cooperate with 64bit VPX and must load in 32bit VPX, however, since installing the beta 64bit pup drivers, pup packs only play when using 64 bit VPX, and do not play when a game is loaded using 32bit VPX.

I didn't try to code or compile anything, And didn't check Wizard of OZ table yet in 64 bit.
I'm mostly doing VR only lately and all tables I have are using VP 64 bit now.
In agreement with Noah, I should not post anything how to get the non working table to work as people could think that I'm talking about a pirated virtual table.
This should not be discussed as the whole pinball community could be harmed

Sorry for the noob question but would moving to 64bit fix the issue I have with some 'heavier' tables? Two in particular always seem to give me trouble which are Big Bang Bar and Last Action Hero by VPinWorkshop. Trying to figure out if it's that which is holding them back or my video card (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB) or a combo of both.

If you mean that you're getting an 'out of memory' error, then the answer is probably yes; going to 64 bit should help with this.

With that said, I am still running an all 32-bit setup with the exact same video card and a Ryzen 5600 CPU and both of those tables work fine for me. I had to limit textures to 3072 (3GB) in the VP video preferences though.

Thanks, I'm using an AMD Ryzen 7 1700x so I'll try limiting the textures as well and see if that helps. That's exactly what I meant.

Yeah. That was it.. I loaded both up several times after making the suggested change and they worked perfectly each time. Thanks again for the suggestion.

Off topic sorry - but wasnt there another fork of some sort for Vpinball using unity or something like that - hows that progressing, does anyone know?  Please delete if not appropriate.

If you mean the Baller Installer update for 64 bit, yes I am eagerly awaiting that.  I couldn't get the Last Action Hero VPW release to run on my Baller install, and I don't want to get in to the issues I'm reading above by trying the manual approach.

The next gen version of VPX in Unity is called Visual Pinball Engine (VPE).  GIT repository is here. They have a website up with some videos of what they have so far.  Also a main header thread at the other pinball site's forum.  From my non-technical eyes, they have made a lot of progress but definitely a non-trivial process to make an all new table editor, player that is usable for both table creators and users/players.

He didn't mean the Baller Installer.  He was talking about a new type of vpin table editor/player.

On the subject of moving to x64.  It's not super complicated.  There is a great github page you can visit that walks you through each step with every link you need.  It's from the same folks working on the Baller Installer.  If you're not comfortable switching out software though, waiting might be the best move.  However, newer tables like Last Action Hero will not run unless you do things to your current 32bit VPX to basically limit video textures and such.  Without limiting, LAH uses more memory while idle than any 32bit application can support.
