exact same issues as me except only game working for me is 24, others are not working

plus the avengers same error and i remove the code for color and still wont load table

For Avengers, don't erase the line or the game won't run. Change both lines to reflect the "avs_170" rom (not the color rom) and the game should run just fine, just won't have the DMD in color, of course.

What I did to finally successfully patch "Avengers" was use the bspatch and bsdiff tool from the command line. The GUI version just doesn't work and spits out an unusable ROM file. In any case, using the two tools from CMD at least gives me an "avs_170c" file that won't result in an error from VPX telling me the game wasn't found.

Let's be clear, though: even when I DO patch it with those two tools AND I get a working Color ROM, it still doesn't give me a color DMD, but it's nice to win one in this battle, I guess.

I am still perplexed as to why color DMD doesn't show up. AltColor with rom name folders are all there. I've practically installed PinMame 10 times over and configured everything within VPMAME, DmdDevice.ini, AND VPX with all the requisite boxes ticked. Everything's unblocked. Color option has been activated. External DLL up and working.

VPinMAME's tests all show perfectly colored DMD's...but launch it in VPX...and you get an orange DMD as if VPX is telling me "Not happening because I hate you. That's why."

I can't seem to shut off the old default display behind VDMD as there's no way to stop that from working, but I don't know anymore.

This is why I gave up the first ten times I tried to do this.

@Outhere - Do you have anymore ideas that might help on this? I'm tapped out. :(

I’ve tried everything multiple time and not having much luck. Some DMD colors are good but many more aren’t.

Again, could you be more specific with what you're pointing out? Are you talking about turning off ddraw, turning off at91jit, or disable "forced fullscreen"?

I've done all three of those. Same orange DMD.

I don't know what else to say.

I can't get any color. The only color which shows up are the default colors on the default DMD and they're that awful orange, purple, blue and red combo. The virtual DMD is completely orange which is still annoying. There's no color whatsoever on it.

VPinMame's testing shows full on color with TRON and Fish Tales and Arabian Nights...I just can't get that to translate to the VPX application and it's frustrating.

@Outhere

Here's what I have. AltColor has the correct file inside. All boxes ticked including "Colorize DMD". Everything was installed according to directions. It's running on 1.7.1 DMD color. The DMD on the left is color -- but it's incorrect and in four shades. The DMD on the right is all orange.

Please let me know what's going on here and please tell me why VPMame does full color DMD's while VPX won't, if you would.

@Outhere

I have it set EXACTLY like that. The right DMD is the Virtual DMD I assume is supposed to be Freezy's. The left one is the normal default DMD that VPX uses.

if that's Jps table

your  left screen is a text screen displaying a duplicate PINMAME window

it is a text screen you will not be able to display full colored projects on that window

I suggest you move it off screen so that you don't have duplicate screens.

the DMD on other side is more then likely the regular PINMAME window

Given that you only have an Orange,  Pink and Blue colors (the default PINMAME colors), its more then likely you don't have Freezys installed correctly or you don't have Pal files to run on freezys because you are only displaying the default PINMAME colors.

Change does colors round to see what DMD screens they affect.

and most important

you are suppose to remove  the check in your PINMAME settings  "Show DMD/ Display window"

so that you hide the PINMAME window and only display the DMD screen generated by Freezy.

@Outhere, @Redwings13:

It works! Ok...so, basically, I was trying to run off Freezy 1.7.1 (64-bit). That wasn't working. So, I went and got Freezy 1.7.1 (x86)...and, boom. It works! All VMD stuff is full color.

So far, I've tested:

Creature from the Black Lagoon

Twilight Zone

Fish Tales

Cirqus Voltaire

Avengers

TRON Legacy

They're all running in color during gameplay.

you are suppose to remove  the check in your PINMAME settings  "Show DMD/ Display window"

so that you hide the PINMAME window and only display the DMD screen generated by Freezy.

It all works. x86 Freezy instead of 64-bit did the job. I don't know why. It just does.

Secondly, I have "Show DMD/Display Window" unchecked now and that's not solving that issue.

I never said it was going to solve your problems

its very simple  here is a picture of everything working

the top is freezys DMD   with color

the bottom is the PINAME window  NO!!!! color

Attached File  Capture.PNG   183.28KB   78 downloads

Show DMD does what it says,  it simply hides your duplicate PINMAME screen  (to remind you its a screen with no color)

if you want to have duplicate displays feel free to keep  the check on  Show DMD/Display.

and very few programs that are 64 bit work on visual pinball, I suggest you always use the 32 bit versions.

Obviously I forgot all about the 64 bit version you should not be using...

Glad to see you have it working

When you on uncheck show DMD and the DMD is still there you may have to change something in the script not sure what

Thanks but, again, "Show DMD" is now off and the default DMD and Freezy DMD are both showing still. Don't know why.

as I said, some tables have a text box to display the DMD,  this was done so that you could run the table in Exclusive Full Screen Mode

Attached File  Capture.PNG   171.85KB   11 downloads

even if hide the DMD in the scrip  you will still see this text box in your screen

Only way you will get rid of this screen is by moving the Text box out of view.

your color profiles will only work on Freezys screen so their is no point of having this text box in view

Copy that. I'm gonna go ahead and go about going through scripts and text boxes. Thanks for the suggestion.

@outhere - I am having issues getting the Spider-Man VE Color Rom to work. Everything's been patched but the best I am getting is a weird purplish greyscale, no color. It's not orange and there aren't four shades. It's like shades of purple.

DISREGARD: Upgrading to latest SAMBuild (as of Friday) fixed it.

Well gave it a go and having the same trouble as some others on here - DMD gives the option to use the xternal .DLL and colours, but once it loads, just a purple-ish tinge

Using Fish Tales as an example on the VPinMAME test as I have downloaded the colourised Roms and places these in the altcolor folder

I am guessing it may be a problem with Freezy 1.7.1 (seems other problems related here) I have used the 64 and 86 bit versions as I cannot see a 32 bit one - may be a clear error on my side??
