Indeed. I also did close to nothing for VP in the last few weeks.  :/

But i had some WIPs with the low level physics code going on, so these are rather fixes for the actual collision detection/handling code and getting rid of all kinds of other small hacks. But who knows where that ends up and if it can be released in the end.

As for the return strength tweaking: I could also add something like nFozzys code directly into the core and make that configurable. This way one could still im/export the physics settings without script involvement. Is it fleshed out enough already to be able to be used?

Could i test it with the same flipper settings posted in the first post?

I gave it a whirl in AFM.  While I could produce some soft low voltage flips, I couldn't do it consistently.

I got the impression that I wasn't fast enough with the physical flipper's "off-on" and this got me wondering.... would we need different settings for those who use micro switches (like me) and for those who use leaf switches?

Did you use my settings? They're a bad idea! LOL :)

Try dropping nFozzy's code from post #12 into your AFM table script. You'll get access to low voltage flipper moves from cradle position. You can leaves EOS set to normal (.75) and set return rate to standard (.08) with nFozzy's solution, so no floppiness. The only thing I change in flipper settings with this code in place is coil ramp up to zero.

If you're having trouble "re-flipping fast enough" from cradle with nFozzy's code, change the number 16 in the first two blocks of code to 24 or even 32 or something. Experiment till you find settings that work for you and your setup.

Yup I had done all of that.... but will keep experimenting. :)    (This time I remembered to backup the original for a change lol)

EDIT: Ok I have ended up at 128 (went as high as 512 and worked backwards and forwards) .... 128 (with physical micro switches) allows me to soft flip pretty consistently, but is just hard enough that I can still stuff it up. Just like a real table.

Just tried nFozzy's script, It's so amazing I can finally do flipper tricks without the nasty "lag" :dblthumb: Thank you nFozzy and Ben Logan

I just tried the first table I have found with the nFozzy script built in.  It works really well... you can tell a difference.  The only thing I could see that might need additional tweaking is that sometimes you can get too much power off of a "tip flip".  For instance, it's possible to really launch the ball off of the tip with more velocity than it seems like it should have.

Try changing the "* .5" in the first two blocks of code to something lower like "* .2" That should give you an even lower powered low-voltage flip I think.

Ah, ok... you are talking about the "returnspeed" setting?  Now we are talking... even .3 is really good.  Thanks.

hmm I dont feel that nfozzy flipers ;( do u have real pinball buttons and leaf swiches or maybe "china" buttons with build in microswitches?

I've got leaf switches on my controller here, Chokeee. That may account for at least part of the difference in experience. Haven't tested with qwerty keyboard.

See my post back up the thread.  I'm using micro switches and needed to change the timer setting of 16  to 128 within the code.  This extra time allows for the greater button movement involved when getting a microswitch to break circuit.

If you're going to increase the variable that much, you should add lfstep = 1 under leftflipper.rotatetostart and rfstep  = 1 under rightflipper.rotatetostart. Otherwise, the script will take forever to reset, and the return speed will be really erratic.

Awesome thanks!  It's been pretty good, but if it can be better I'll take it ;)

UPDATE:  Added the code, reduced the delay to 64 and I have to say that these are the most natural, real feeling flippers I have played to date.

Hi guys, and thanks for the interesting topic. The discussion is pretty old. I was implementing the nFozzy's scripts into my table, and then noticed toxie's proposal to integrate the feature into the VP. What is the current situation with the VPX, so that I don't enable the low-voltage feature somehow twice accidentally.

Not integrated into VPX yet, but it has come a long way in 7 years! There are tutorial videos and an example table for the latest and greatest features, and always helpful people around to help :)
