Update on this, upon IndyJ's direction, rather than using the installer I simply replaced the VP.exe,

the SciLexer.dll and the FreeImage.dll files, with 100% success.  I had previously tried the same and it had not

worked; I can only assume I had a corrupt .dll file or an incomplete download of the installer package.

Thanks to all for all the input and help!

The 9.21 full installer does not include the FreeImage.dll file. I could see this being a problem for newbies.

I seem to have a problem after installing 9.9. I can run tables that were buggy before, but now I can't stick the DMD to the backglass anymore.... I have a 2 display cab, using the cab version on vpinmame 25, and display in vpinmame is set to default. The dmd lines in table scripts are commented out as well. They stuck before but do not now... I also know to "shake 'n' stick" so that's not it.... Any ideas? Also. ... Kick Ass software guys! I rarely use my MAME cab now lol Thanks in advance, and happy pinning!

Ok just saw the b2s specific tables....duh!  I am sure that is my problem lol.  Will try those now.

Ok, all sorted out.  It seems that my displays got reversed somehow.  Repositioned and all is good in the world again :)

Download the 9.9.1 minimal, the file is in there.

Regarding the VBScript error, "Attempted to read or write protected memory.", has anyone figured out what the problem here is?  I've just done a PC rebuild and getting this error using the following installs.

1.  VPinball990_Full - then updated using VPinball991_Minimal.

2.  VPinball991_Full.

Both combinations giving me the same error.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

VP is unable to create or modify a file in the Visual Pinball folder..  Try running VP as administrator.  If that doesn't work, don't install VP in the c:\Program Files folders, try c:\visual pinball or c:\games\visual pinball

Already running VP as Administrator with no luck.  Tried installing VP in the root of C: and still no luck.  VP990 works fine so don't think it's a permissions issue.  And all games seem to be crashing around the controller.run line in the scripts.

Sorry to dig up an older thread.

Ran into the same error today with a clean install.

Already running as administrator, in compatibility mode and also in another folder.

Trying an older .exe for now.

Hi Numiah, Thanks for posting, it's good to know I'm not the only person with this issue.  I'm also using an old .exe for now because no matter what I try I can't fix this problem.

Cheers.

I remember having a similar problem a while ago with the in-between "beta" versions mukuste posted - something caused VP to crash but running an older version fixed the problem (probably by overwriting certain registry keys) and afterwards the more recent version would work again as well... strange thing and I don't remember which version caused and which cured the problem...

Hi all,

we have just built our pinball cabinet and tried to install VP 9.9.1. When starting the table "Attack from Mars" with ROM 1.113b VP shows the backglass and freezes, not doing anything anymore. Table "TopSpeed" can be started. Deinstalling VP 9.9.1 and installing 9.9.0 everything's fine and working.

Our cabinet: 3 screens, Intel I5, 8 GB, NVIDIA GTX 750 ti, Win7 pro N with Media Package.

Any idea what we can do? Considering the changelog there were not so many changes from 9.9.0 to 9.9.1, were there? But I have the impression that something around the usage of DirectX has changed, hasn't it?

So for the time beeing we will live with VP 9.9.0.

You should have 2 dll's in vp folder. Right click on them then click properties and see if it says blocked on general tab

Just unblocked all the .dll files and made sure my dx 9 was up to date and it still says the same thing :(
