OK, here comes a newbie question.  I was already running 9.1.5 successfully on my desktop, so I decided to use the 9.2.1 standalone version, as instructed.  I copied all of the unzipped files to my existing VP folder, replacing when prompted.  When I try to run the new executable, it pulls up the editor as usual, but when I click PLAY, it gets to the Preparing Table popup, the Starting Game Scripts progress bar get right to the end, then it just hangs up.  I pulled up my task manager and noticed that VP is running and using a steady 13% of my CPU like it is looping or something.  Any ideas what I may have done wrong?

I tried several different tables, same results.  If I execute the 9.1.5.exe, it works fine again.

Did you remember to run VP as administrator?

HI,

Make sure VP exe is called VPinball.exe.

Should definitely work OK.

Webster.

Also check all the settings in Preference especially the video options.

Hey all, I just tried 9.21 on my ancient P4 @ 2.5 Ghz. XP Pro SP3 with 1 Gb. memory and Onboard Intel Graphics,

and Freddy Kruger is Working here, smooth in Window Mode and stuttery on Full Screen, but That is A Major Miracle for a Freddy that previously ran @ < 1 FPS (no kidding), froze, locked up, refused to do anything but threaten to burn my graphics chip. The current rate is >30 FPS!

I read the comments by Faralos and I would try downloading the Unity 3D Alpha. It contains an updated VPinMame.dll that seems to have been improved in the handling of the data and memory management. Remember to Copy/Paste this new VPinMame.dll to your VPinMame folder. I would First Rename the old .dll to something like "OldVPinMame.dll" just to keep it handy in case this new version doesn't work on your system. But try it and the VP ver. 9.21 and see if it helps the slow tables like it does on my system.

If there is still trouble, then close VIsual Pinball and try Deleting the \vpinmame\ .CFG and .NVRAM files for the problem tables as they may conflict with this new VPinMame.dll. Then try the table again.

GREAT WORK! :) :) :) :) :)

Been having problems too with 9.2.1. In the case of my situation, whenever I try to start up a table, the program stops working and closes itself. This problem only seems to affect 9.2.1, as I've tried the same tables on 9.2, and they've been working fine.

In terms of my rig, my computer is a Hewlett-Packard, with an AMD Phenom II X4 830 Processor processor (2.8 GHz), 6GB of RAM, and a 1GB graphic card that was installed last Christmas.

In terms of the tips you gave, I did try a full install and fiddling around with the video options (as well as tried updating VPinMame), but it still keeps having the problem. Two things of additional notice:

1. When I did the full install, I didn't remove Visual Pinball and instead went with the repair option (out of fear of losing my tables). Should I try removing and then reinstalling the program?

2. The program shuts down when it's reading the game scripts. Is it possible that I'm having script-related problems with the tables (note that they're both Visual Pinbal 9.x tables)?

Hi TnAdct1,

if You have a working installation (or had it before VP921), try to download the minimal VP921. Normally it is sufficient to replace the two dll files and replace the VPinball.exe with the new one (rename VPinball921.exe after renameing VPinball.exe to VPinball_old.exe).

If You are afraid of loosing Your tables, just copy the table folder to a safe place before reinstalling. This is always a good idea for backup reasons.

Regards

Michael

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong but I still can't get Vpinball to open. I first installed the stand alone then I installed the full version. It still would not start so I remove and re installed the full revision still no luck. I check all the properties and set to admin and changed to  compatibility modes nothing. Even tried removing everything under video options no luck. Can someone please tell me what I am missing? I'm running on a

Intel I7 2.80

4 gigs ram

Amd Radeon HD 7700 with 2gigs vram

Thanks for any help

I can get vampires to run but not any of the B2S BG pinball machines. The B2S BGs open but the vpinball shut down.
