Hey Magic, I plan to look into this weekend, I never liked the resizing as it is but it didn't effect my cab so it kinda got neglected. I will hopfully have it revised with a smoother system soon. That is the most extreme case i've seen. I'm suprised by raising your resolution you can't get better flexibility. I'll post when when I get it fixed up.

Hi Gountlet, thank you for your Answer. In it was the solution.

I tryed it again, and now it works with a resolution of 1024*768, i was trying yesterday on 800*600 original was 640 * 480.

So, no need to chnge it for me. Sorry, my misstake, my resolution wasn't high enough.

thanks again

I finally got around to trying it. It works like a charm on every table I tried. Great job!

Thanks Magic, I was looking at sizing yesterday and it is kinda tricky without distorting the display. The reason it seems jump when you resize is because it needs a minimum of 128 pixels and 128 spaces wide. I can't make them fractions of a pixel. I tried making some pixels wider and also some spaces wider to account for a mismatched resolution but it wasn't looking very nice.. I'll give it a rest for now. Thanks for the feedback and I know what to advise if asked.

I'm working on some customization options and need to know how you guys prefer to use it. I had originally thought for my personal cabinet that I would like this to be always running with future plans of feeding it animations between games. It seems alot of you would prefer to open the dmd and close it between games.

Please let me know your preferred option so I know where to  set focus. I would like to set up an an ini file folder so you can set individual color  settings for each table but the approach is a bit different depending on the direction chosen. Please let me know.

I'm currently using the HyperDMD system to display the table manufacturer when launching a non-DMD table from Hyperpin.  This makes the DMD space a little less bare when running an older table.  I also have it loop through three messages when running inside of Hyperpin.  One screen says "Use Flippers To Select", One says "Press Green Button to Launch", and the third screen is the Xenon logo which is what my cabitnet is built from.  If FutureDMD can replace that functionality then I would move to just a single solution.  For now, I just launch FutureDMD right before I load the table.  Then when I exit from the table I have FPLaunch kill the FutureDMD process.  Having a command line option to close the FutureDMD screen would make it a bit cleaner but it isn't vital to my needs.

For me, the only thing I really hope to figure out is why it is failing on just a few tables.  I'm now running it perfectly on around 20 tables and am only struggling with those original few.  Any thoughts on what may be causing this?

Hi Gauntlet, thank you for give it a try. Can imagine, it’s not an easy thing. At the resolution of 1024 it works fine for me.

Yes, this is a great idea, to have an ini file with the special table names, when it needs a different color then orange.

Fantastic, i can’t wait to try this ... that's terrific.

I personally, and i think also others using it together on a cab with Hyperpin, so it needs to be load before a Pin starts and unload when ending. I run some animations on HyperDMD in between.

If i can help testing, it’s a pleasure, just let me know.

Good luck .. BTW, i was laughing a lot when i was reading the line about your wife and "dungeons and dragons" ... very Funny .. stil laughing.

@gauntletlover - I like both options actually. Your original idea is attractive as it opens the possibility for front ends to draw to the virtual DMD as part of the menu interaction.

As for other customizations, it would be awesome to add a color tag to the Future Pinball.xml and have FutureDMD read the color tag for the appropriate table DMD color display.

Thanks!

Good work, it will be a must have for Future Pinball.

I just try it but i still have a problem. On my my third screen, a 15" in 1024*768 max i can't have the entire image on the DMD (with or without aspect ratio on/off). I play on Windows 8 64 bits with seven compatibility and "launch as admin".

@darquayle I think I may have it and I'm not ashamed to say I'm not 100% sure why it is effecting only a handful of tables but,. I just tried ?Jurrasic Park and got it working. Can you try deleting the "MyDmd" off of your translite and re-make it on the playfield at 128X32 with the same name? Let me know when you can if that did it.

Thanks

never mind that. I got it to load twice then it stopped again.... strange. I will keep looking into it.

Hi Gauntletlover

So I have spent most of today playing with your creation and I really cannot fault it so far.....

The idea of playing FP with a third screen always appealed to me, but with Physics 2.5 and this actually working as well as it does, this is definatly going to be added to my cabinet build.

I have just a few problems with it as it is.

On my third screen (DMD)  the resize option is not fine enough to fill the whole DMD area, it's either undersize widthways or just a little too big. I have tried different screen resolution sizes but nothing helps.

I have lost the mouse pointer icon on my playfield and backbox, this may not sound like too big a deal but when you try to resize the DMD on screen 3 you then have to left click the playfield to restart the simulation. this becomes hard to locate without a pointer, I may be missing something as I'm fairly new to FP, having left to use visual pinball about 3 years ago.......So any help would be appreciated.

As a suggestion for the future, I think it would be good to have a user defined message/logo instead of a static bare DMD between loads, something that each user could design and imput themselves to customise their build, I don't know if this is possible, it's just a suggestion.

Thanks for this, it's made my day!

Hi Gauntletlover, just one suggestion, can you add something to exit the FutureDMD programm by command line. Actually, i have to kill the task, that's not a good way. BTW Works fantastic together with Hyperpin.

Thank you

I think you can have .net framework 3.5 and 4.0 concurrently, can you not?

Thank you Gauntletlover for this masterpiece of software.

But it doesn´t work for me. After i load a table to Future Pinball and after i hit play, FP crashes.

Sometimes Future DMD gives a short hint like "Alle Pipeinstanzen sind ausgelastet". Thats german, i can´t translate.

I can run it on 2 machines, WIN7x64 both, and it´s just the same.

Help me please.

This software is a thing of beauty.  I love it and it runs without issues on my machine. :otvclap:   Right now I have the app in the startup folder and so it runs all the time.   Not a major deal but....   My only request is that if someone could explain to me how to code the Hyperpin ahk to start and stop the FP DMD application when the FP table launches/shutsdown, in the way that VP tables do open and close the DMD, it would be appreciated.     Thanks much..

Hold tight guys I'm working on a few updates that will change how some things are done based off all of the great feedback I've received from everyone, I will put out version 1 soon and I will include instructions for hyperpin ahk. I have added a shutdown flag as well that will close fp after the table closes (thanks magic), customized colors are ready to go via ini files for each table or a default ini if no custom settings are available. Sparky, as far as I know you shouldn't have any problem installing the 3.5 run-times with 4 installed.

I am currently trying to track down a bug causing some tables to crash so bare with me. And sorry max, I don't speak german either :/

If you have tables crashing right at the end of the load screen please let me know which ones and what you are running on your system. It could help me track it down a little quicker... Thanks everyone.
