Did you know that "playing pinball" is called "flipperen" in Dutch? Now you know and may your life be enriched by this arcane knowledge....

I think that the Genie doesn't register some hard and quick hits...Is it the same on the real machine?

Some more coments for this.

I am really picky here since this is one of my absolute favs, and its a wondefull recreation you made JP.

Its not the first time i work with the settings on this table but i gave it around 5 hours
this time comparing and comparing smile.gif

Mainproblem seems to be it plays to fast, not the correct pace or flow to the real table!
Your compensation to this seems mostly to be to lowering the slope and that really ruins the play
of the table a lot! Sorry to say!

The quick and dirty change seems to be to alter the slope to around
6,5 min 9,5 max and change the global difficulty to 0.

Then its the flipper settings. I compared them a lot to the old settings and in my point of view
your old settings suits this table a lot better. More punch, better feeling, just better!
But thats ofcourse a matter of taste, but for those who really like this table i recommend to
test both settings to see what you like best!

Flipper settings right/left:

Rubber thickness: 7
Rubber offset h: 16
Rubber width: 28

Speed: 0,285
Strength: 0,95
Elasticity: 0,45
Scatter a: 0
Return s: 0,2
Recoil velocity: 20
Power law: 1
Oblique c: 4,5

Physics:
Tbl slope min: 6,5
Tbl slope max: 9,5
Global difficulty: 0

Have a nice day!

Comparing what? Do you have the real table? I have searched to find a good video to compare it but current videos on YouTube are not so good for comparisons.

The only "problems" i have are:
1. The genie seems that it doesn't register some quick and strong hits...
2. Most of the times i hit the ramp, the ball doesn't have the required speed to go to the left or right ramp and it returns back and falls from the hole of the spiral ramp...

I don't know if it happens the same to the real table.. Does anybody have it? (it's a very expensive table too!)...

@Ms.Pacman:

No dont have it, played it but wasnt yesterday.
Comparing just settings to settings !

Here is a video showing a decent slope for the actual table.

I have tried your settings and it seems to be a little more improved...thanks! I have seen that video, but it's very difficult to see the actual ball speed and movement details...

hi Johanpsu!

I want to try out your settings but for the FS version of this gem.
Is it the same settings as for this 4:3? blum.gif

Sorry Mr.Pacman smile.gif

The video is alittle blurred but the type of slope and speed is visible.

Probably JPs setting of gravity constant: 1,67 (the recommended) is the best i see now.

Hi.
I just suggested a higher slope and some reduced speed
using the global difficlult constant JP use to refer to.
It will work for fs to but i am not sure what to prefer
in speed using a bigger screen and scale.

Thanks Johanpsu for you settings. But I have a few comments of a few things you should know when making changes, which will save you time and effort by trying settings which don't have the effect you expect:

Rubber thickness: 7
Rubber offset h: 16
Rubber width: 28

These settings are only visual candy and have no effect on the ball, but the radius have an effect on the ball smile.gif.

Physics:
Tbl slope min: 6,5
Tbl slope max: 9,5
Global difficulty: 0

What you have actually done here is to set the table slope to 6,5 and removed all the random in the table. By setting the Global difficulty to 0 you made the Tbl slope max inactive, so it doesn't matter which value you set it to. Also by setting Global difficulty to 0 you have reduced all the random to a minimum (elasticity of objects, kicker strengths, kicker angle, plunger, etc) so the table is more predictable (that's why it is called "Global difficulty"). When I set up the random to some walls and kickers I should like to see that random, even if it s very small. Mostly I should like to see that on the kickers, so the ball don't always go the same spot. That's why I found out that I want to use the Global difficulty value to the max value of 1. This makes active only the Tbl slope max value, that's why I set both values to the same value, since the min value is not active anyway.

The flipper settings are almost the same but one thing you should keep in mind: Power law: 1. When it is set to 1 the ball doesn't bounce so much and the ball stick to the flipper like glue. If you set it to 2 the ball bounces much more and it is very difficult to make a dead stop of the ball, that's why I use 1,5, something in between smile.gif

The speed/strength of the flippers is a personal taste smile.gif

Well, about the slope, I think it is just a personal taste too. When I was in Mallorca this summer I played a few times a Rollercoaster table. And the slope were much higher than normal and the ball was really fast. They also had moved the posts on the outlanes as high as possible so the ball drained also faster there. So the game didn't last for very long, but it was fun smile.gif

JP I have to say that this is one of your tables i have enjoyed the most!

How can we adjust the strength of the upper magnet? I believe that if we set it a little lower, the ball capture movement would be more natural...

To make the magnet weaker just reduce the number 20 in the line 145:

Set mVanishMagnet = New cvpmMagnet
With mVanishMagnet
.InitMagnet VanishMagnet, 20
.GrabCenter = 1
.CreateEvents "mVanishMagnet"
End With

A lower value will make the magnet weaker. A higher value will make it stronger.
