I think. To emulate pin2k. We would have to get another emulator, maybe something that runs like dos, or make a new pinball application entirely.

kind of Ironic how PS4 has an emulator after 8 years

and yet we can't seem to emulate Pinball 2K, which is old technology over 20 years

Kinda natural though.. PS4 emu means fame, and potentially ppl giving you money and the like via Patreon, etc.

P2K is super niche..

So guess what will attract more devs to it..  ;)

I assume we are talking about the Williams Pinball 2000 controller?

That made it into 2 machines, before Williams ceased doing pinballl?

You dont need an emulator, you just need VPX really

The hardware in those machines was a PC, so we have one of those

an interpreter to run the original software in it's original language would work, but it's kind of uninteresting

Id rather write a viewer to see what it is doing, and then translate it into VBS

I's kind of like, i can go grab a copy of gorilla.bas and set up a gwbasic interpreter
or i can just view it and redo it in vb

gonna need a drive out of a machine though, as you need the media folders for the display

If you feel the need to empty your wallet in my direction, i don't have any way to receive it anyways

Spend it on Hookers and Blow

There was already somebody on the 'other forum' that did do kinda that. Via a x86 virtual machine on Linux. This means almost exactly running the native code and 'just' emulating the other hardware components.

No I have the code only at home
I can provide some people with a compiled windows version to see how it runs at those machines.

I have mame now working with the roms only. So without update. Only some files are required to get it to work. I Will try to make a Pull Request with my code so everyone can make it better
I know it is not the best code however it is working which was my main goal :)

Don't know if we'll be able to port this over to PinMAME, but we'll try for sure next year.. ..

I know. I have upgraded my real prism card with 8Mb flash chip and the mame driver also is supporting this size :)

Pinball 2000 was run using a commercial PC with the Cyrix Media GX CPU. The software depends on the integrated graphics in the Media GX CPU to operate. The PRISM card is a PCI card that carried the masked ROMs (64MB, the most dense possible in a 16-bit configuration), and ran the basic boot process of the PC to run Pinball 2000. Along with the PRISM card, the PC contained a custom audio amp to drive the stereo speakers and subwoofer.

Pin 2000 uses a Baby XT pc with NO hard drive. Boots from a special Sandwich daughter board consisting of a rom card and a special prisim card. These 2 cards are pressed together to form 1 card.

I own a revenge from mars but I think the built in Video card has died. I will not be asble to find another pc as it uses a obscure Processor, This uses CGI video out. I had planned on pulling the CRT screen out and replacing it with a EGA/CRT up to VGA converter abd small flatscreen for the monitor that projects an image in reverse onto special coated glass. This glass then places the image the correct way  over the pin targets.

So Emulation will be a challenge at least.

Attach a VGA monitor and pull out the prism card.
Of you dont get any image you might have a dead cpu
Of you do get an image with vga monitor find a serial null modem cable and use terminal software to see what is happening in there. There is a lot of information on the internet about this problem
