I've been thinking about my theme/artwork and as much as I love the Big Bag Bar artwork, I've put too much effort into this cab to simply copy some else's work. Here's what I've come up with over the last two days. It's only my first version, but I'm pretty happy with it. Let me know what you guys think.

My five pieces of art total 1.27 GB.... It's too bad I don't know Illustrator at all. Gotta stick to what you know.

I was hoping I would have got some comments on the artwork by now, but oh well....

Time to figure out the back of the playfield... I don't want to mount the LED domes on the front so I'll take the time to make it pretty.
I had to cut this piece twice as I screwed the first one up. I had to drill almost all the way down using a 35mm forstner, then the last bit with a 30mm, then sand. Otherwise there was too much of a gap around my domes.

An hour into work I realized I have a problem. If I ever want to slide the playfield out, I'll need to make disconnects for my LEDs and backbox... This was a major oversight on my part. The backbox will be easy enough; I'll just get DVI, USB, audio, and Molex extensions for a quick disconnect behind the playfield screen. For the RGBs I can either wait a week to receive some sub-D connectors from allelectronics or I can simply make them removable... I'll make them removable. To keep the RGB LEDs from getting too hot I'll take the advice of some other folk here and use a strip of aluminum. I cut a slot so the bar could just hold itself in.

But now I also have to trim my domes.

Some thermal grease should keep the LEDs cool, and some plastic washers should keep them from shorting out.

I'm glad I took my time with this piece. These pics are for you Arcade4 smile.gif

I also cut some holes for my fans. I deviated a bit from my plans as far as the fan placement goes, but only to allow for a few more if need be. What do you guys think? Will these four fans move enough air through my cab? How about my backbox? I still need to cut exhaust holes along the top of the backbox, but I ran out of daylight.

The graphics look good but maybe a bit too busy? I wonder if this is a case of "less is more".
If it were me I would do the blue circuit background with just the Digi Pin badge over it, bigger
and more centered, and skip the graphic of the pinball machine and flippers.

Cool move on the leds... I'm anxious to see what that looks like lit up over the pf, if it will
reflect too much or just blow everything else away.

I would guess you might want one more fan on the backbox, just to circulate the air out.

Overall though, great work and a really impressive build so far!

Personally I'm not too keen on the DigiPin artwork, but as it was said, it is your cabinet so you should do whatever you think is the best.

Airflow should be sufficient.

After waiting six weeks I finally received my Sears.com order and now I can bevel with my router. I decided to redo my speaker/DMD grill from scratch. It's only a small update, but I'm still waiting on my custom lockdown bar. I have to wait on the bar before I can place my glass over the playfield. After I route the tracks for the glass I can paint, then wire everything up, and I'll be more or less finished. I still haven't decided on the art. I'll probably redo that from scratch as well... totally different theme/design.

The hole I cut for the DMD on the first grill was a little too tall. This one is closer to the DMD size of more current machines.

Nice and beveled.

I moved the speakers in a few millimeters. Now the speakers hold the DMD monitor in place. I know it doesn't look like it, but it's very snug.

Very nice attention to details. After starting with a simple build I became more ambitious and started over on a few details, too. But I wouldn't have your patience...

Having to wait on the postal service has forced me to be patient. I really need to change my location on my profile... Think I'll do that now.

Very, very nice build. Great planning, skills and attention to detail. I too do not have the patience that you have.

I know you mentioned that you had buttons sitting around from a previous build. Any chance you could tell me more about the flipper buttons? They don't look like anything I've come across. Do switches need to be added? Do you know the dimensions and/or measurements? Or even where they were purchased?

I'm just about complete with my build (not nearly as detailed) and the flipper buttons are giving me a headache due to the playfield monitor being flush with the cab sides. I have very little room to play with on the buttons.

Again, nice job!

They're goldleaf buttons from ultimarc. They don't click because they don't have microswitches inside them.
http://www.ultimarc.com/goldleaf.html

If you use sketchup here's a model of one.
http://sketchup.goog...amp;prevstart=0

They're aprox 1 1/4" deep (from the back of the button head to the end) and they're the same diameter as normal buttons.

If you want some you better order soon because Andy at ultimarc is going on holiday from the 25th to July 13th.

Wow, cab is looking great!

UVP is a pain to get to work right took me a few tryes as well to get it ironed out! Still to this day it gets messed up sometimes! My UVP was all fine till a few days ago, still works don't get me wrong but when I start it up everything turns orange and yellow with horizontal lines though it! After the full start up of the table is finished it corrects it's self.

I've also found that you can't hit the U button in hyperpin to save the backglass you need to use the back glass in the UVP download file! Make sure you have everything the same name and in the right folders.

NOTICE:  This post was a reference to a UVP/DMD issue I was having... I've since edited and removed the pics and info concerning this issue.  I would have left them up and updated everyone with what ultimately caused my problem, possibly helping others... but I fixed that issue long ago, and forgot what did the trick.

Yes... Same name, right folders. Replaced the png and uvp file with original copies (as if FPLaunch writes to them anyway) and no change.

Try loading it out of hyperpin! If it works just though VP then at least you can narrow down your problem!

I doesn't work through VP... In VP the UVPserver window opens (displayed over the table on playfield) as if you launched it to edit a UVP. It only worked the very first time I launched from FPLaunch, with the HIGHEST SCORES for a backglass every time after that. As you can see, the UVP lighting still works in the same spots, but the PNG artwork has been replaced. Where this HIGHEST SCORES image is coming from, I have no idea.

Seems like the backglass got replaced with a DMD screen shot somehow!

Also, it should work out of VP without hyperpin! Try another table and if another table works right just start over with the table in question! Re download, add the appropriate parts to the script and start over with that table if other tables work right! At least that's what I would do!
