It's a question of gameplay versus looks. FP looks fantastic, but it can never achieve a gameplay anyway near the real thing, due to its physics. Take just the gravuity factor, it's horisontal in FP. That's a fact.
One of us smells like a tart's handkerchief. Afraid it's me. Sorry about that, old boy.

For me it's the other way around. VP tables suffer from terrible lifeless lighting and are as far from realistic as you can get. Honestly, have you guys ever played a real table? Notice the lights, see how they light up the playfield and add tons of atmosphere to the game? FP is much more realistic and since I've been playing MM on FP, the VP version, as good as it was, would be like going from Blu-Ray back to VHS!
Now if my opinion offends you, then you really need to grow up. It's just my point of view.....y'know freedom of speech.

did you ever played the real MM table?
Did you?
I have one in a billard pub in my home town and I play it very often. I tell you the FP version is closer to the real one as the VP version, but nothing is better then the real one.

I admit, VP does take the lead with physics but only just. Both are still a hundred miles away form the real thing though, so that argument is redundant. Gameplay is not just about the physics, it's made up of many elements and graphics play a major role. VP falls way short in that department and FP takes a huge stride forward towards photorealism. Wnen I play an FP table I actually feel like I'm playing a real pinball table. With VP it's just a video game.
I do play real tables as often as I can. How anyone can compare VP tables to the real deal is just ridiculous.

This is probably something with my set, but I've noticed on FP tables (including this one) that have a DMD in the HUD, the DMD is always gray in color, where if you look at the DMD that's on the table, it's the normal orange, and if you look at the HUD DMD in the editor it indicated the HUD DMD is supposed to be orange
This is a known issue with FP. I think it has something to do with ATI cards.
Somebody can correct me if I am wrong.
I have an ATI 5670 and the DMD on the playfield is black and white, while the one on the backbox is orange.
However since I play them in a cabinet it is not a problem because I slide the one on the playfield out of view.

The STFU was only referring to your trolling. I didn't realize that you are just an alias as Jamo said you don't even post at GoPinball, yet you act like you are FP's biggest fanboy. You should be banned as you have no purpose here, you contribute nothing here or at GoPinball. The two communities should be able to mingle and have fun, friendly conversations and a mutual respect for each other. I like many of the FP authors, I have a lot of respect for the old authors I have corresponded with over the years, we share with them, they share with us, it is all about pinball. You only seem to be here to build a wall between the two communities, your opinion is of no use to anyone, since you are simply trolling.

You have discovered an Easter egg. Pat yourself on the back.

I totally agree Bob -- well said. I hope Noah bans him as all the evidence is that he is clearly a troll who only wants to inflame people. There is no place for his kind here in this great community or at GoPinball where I am also a proud member. The guy is a troll of the nasty kind. Nuf said

Relax. It's just my opinion. You can't ban people just because they don't share your point of view. You don't like what I'm saying then block me, simple as that. Don't cry to the teacher like a big baby.
Oh, and to fix the black and white DMD on the HUD, simply tick the Disable GLSL Shaders box in the video options. The HUD DMD will now be orange (or whatever color you want it to be)

don't be to harsh to jonbaker... the poor kid has to live without a brain
please don't ruin this thread with that nonsense anymore... it should be all about franciscos magnificent effort
and to the one guy who said "gameplay anyway near the real thing": are you kidding me? i have got one in my local arcade... to state "not anywhere near the real thing" is just totally absurd and also some kind of trolling. to clearify that: i also played gronis fantastic version for years, so i'm no fanboy at all.
cheers, jan
@baker: if you want to support fp, please don't post anymore

Stop it. please.
This is about a great Fp table release, not about a few members defending their fav version or whatever. And just because you've played the real table doesn't mean your opinions are justified at all... Grow up!

The first sensible thing I've read so far. Not everyone here is an idiot it seems.
The table is great, the author did a great job and despite many objections - this IS the best version of MM created so far. Now I've said that, I will remain silent.

Really guys?
I'm currently on vacation and I have to pop on here for mere minutes and see more trolling, insults, and name calling.
VPF is about VIRTUAL pinball, and ALL virtual pinball is welcome here. Please refrain from all this crap, and just appreciate the fact that we HAVE two great programs to recreate the game we all love and enjoy.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion without being insulted.
Thank you.

I really need to get FP to work on my cab!
This is by far the best FP table I've played so far.
(It gets even better if the flipper swing is changed to 54 degrees and the flipper elasticity is changed to intermediate)

Thanks for the tip, Rosve. Will try that.

I did what Rosve said, but then also set flipper strength to max. I also found the flipper gap to be too small, I bumped each flipper toward the lanes a couple notches, as far as they could go without touching the lane. I had fun playing this & it sure does look great, toys & things look great. Still many of the usual FP issues which is a bummer, but the table still played better than I expected after these couple tweaks. Well enough to be enjoyable. However I just modded JP's VP9 MM to my liking & got it playing even better than I thought I could, & gameplay is damn near perfect in my book. So I'll probably mostly be playing that version & the Farsight version on the console, which apparently will soon be coming out for Pinball Arcade. But this is such a great table that its nice to have good versions on every program & platform! Too many is never enough with this game!
Times like this I'm really having my fingers crossed that this unity project can actually happen.
Regardless, I really enjoy & appreciate all the work that went into this FP version. Very impressive.

Rob, if you don't mind posting your changes to JP's MM to the "Better Physics Settings" thread, that would be great! I love the modded tables you came out with recently!
Also I don't know if you guys are aware of a "tweak" for FP. To understand what I am talking about download this great table http://www.pinsimdb....r_ultra_edition. I think this table and its contents represents the best FP is capable of in terms of physics so far. Kudos to Slamt1lt for raising the bar higher!
