I hate to say it yet again but I have no toubles. Problems of floaty ball, lag or stutter always i believe come down to your hardware struggling with the engine. On my PC i play at maximum. I never have stutter, lag or floatyness. I never see a strange bounce. I suspect the key to the success of any new physics may be reduced processing power needed.
I own a real harlem globetrotters and on occasion i play it along side vp and fp to compare. in my experience niether has yet approached the behaviour of the real table, so while fp continues to operate as it does on my pc, i will play it. Interestingly, (with the effects of spin etc i assume), on the real table some very strange things can and do occur. Maybe i need to upgrade my universe lol.
I agree, & I built the
FP Harlem GT table. Though to be fair its one of the older recreations, it might be better if built around the latest
FP. But even still,
FP lacks flexibility to really improve all that much. I also did a VP7 version of Harlem GT, but of course that is from before all these new tweaking options existed in
VP. & yeah I was never totally happy with how either of them played but there wasn't much I could do about it. I could probably suggest a couple quick settings changes for the
FP table that would help, but I've pretty much given up on it ever playing too well without a major
FP update. & I have a super fast rig & have tried all the best GPU's out there, so I know
FP is running as well as it can.
Maybe JP's
VP Harlem is best as far as aiming, but thanks to
VP9 it can also be tweaked to closely match the feel of your real table, even though JP might prefer faster/different settings, but its all changeable for those up for it. I know this because I've been able to recently make EBD match my real life EBD pretty well, & also my latest Mystic table does pretty well in matching the real thing. Both from the same era as Harlem, same flippers & everything.
I still say that modern tables are easier for
VP &
FP to match physics on. Old style flippers & slower tables are a little more challenging, but like I said, with enough tweaking you can get good results there as well. Of course
VP (or
FP) is still unable to properly calculate the effect ball spin has on a table or the way rubbers can absorb the ball a bit before it bounces... but aside from that it has really come a long way (
VP has).
