Looks like a Wild West theme? Looking great Todd!
Having a cabinet to play full screen pins is awesome! Check out my mini pin cab here on VPForums.

Don't stress about the keymapping, if you run into exit issues in hp, just remap exit to something other than esc.

Well I just finished playing a couple games of pinball on the pin-cab and I have the dreaded 'exit' bug where UVP doesn't close when exiting a table... /sigh
I guess I'll have to figure this out tomorrow.
Best Regards,
Todd.

I'm wiring up the MAME controller buttons to the IPAC tonight but I just wanted to say, I can play (virtual) pinball in my pin-cab in my home now... The end of the tunnel is in sight!

There's still a bit of 'controller' tweaking to do to the MAME controller - as in, I need to add some more buttons but or the most part, my pin-cab/MAME cab is 98% complete!
The IPAC controller works nicely and I haven't noticed any conflicts with having it installed simultaneously with the Nanotech DIY motion adapter kit.
Best Regards,
Todd.

Getting carried away with the "Wild West" theme.
I don't know if thats the feel your looking for, but wouldn't it be cool to "brand" (or whatever its called) in the name.
I mean with a solder iron or something similar. And it doesn't need to be perfect either, the rougher, the cooler
.
My 2 cents

Great cab todd.
For exit321 screen killing uvp problem, just use some other key for exit, not joy8.
Joy8 on pinball wizard and Esc on keyboard are hardcoded into VP and they can't be disabled.
You can still use Joy8 for something else like genre key or rules key or something that is used with only short key press cause VP will not exit on short press of joy8, only on long press.
You can find all about this in FPlaunch theme on hyperspin forum. Link is in my sig.

Sorry for not posting this earlier: I solved my UVP exit bug, without reprogramming FPLaunch. (yes, I am using the 1.295wip3 version) I'll explain how, but first, here is how I was able to figure out what the solution would be.
After some poking around in the FPLaunch.ahk file, I realized that FPLaunch is just a "middleware" app who's job is to sit there and wait for a key, or a game button to be pressed, and when that happens, FPLaunch looks in it's table list of defined apps and sends those sequences out to those apps that have that key defined in them. Pretty simple eh? [Todd, why didn't you go to the auto-hot-key site and read about it there? Well, sometimes the obvious just doesn't hit me when I'm in my "figure shtuff out" mood.]
So I concluded that the key sequence that all the Hyperpin apps need (Hyperping, UVP, VP etc...) to exit cleanly was the ESC key.
We all know that the nanotech motion adapter is just a fancy keyboard encoder but the keys are not re-programable without adding in an extra middleware app like xpadder or joy2key or some other similar app so I ruled that out. (why stick something in there that's going to eat more memory and cpu cycles!)
So I moved onto my IPAC controller that I use for my MAME controls to look for the solution there. Lo and behold, on the player two side of the IPAC is a socket pre-configured for ESC! So I moved the wire from the socket assigned to the TAB key over to the socket assigned to ESC key and everything exits cleanly now.
By the way, if anyone is worried about ghosting on the keyboard, I have yet to notice any. The IPAC and nanotech motion adapter board are both plugged in all the time and seem to co-exist very nicely thus far.
Best Regards,
Todd.
p.s. Thanks Rawd, the same goes for Triple Strike! I only wish that I could figure out why I can't get .Net apps (besides the Hyperpin database editor) to install so that I can play B2S tables. I can't even get VB 2010 express to install!! :@
I just cut a piece of wood (3/4 of an inch by 1 inch) that goes the entire width of the cab and the cards metal 'L' brackets are attached to that.

Best Regards,
Todd.

great todd, tnx for the info
actually ESC key is stopped by fplaunch and never sent to VP or FP cause it has some side effects.
In VP it brings annoying pause menu, in FP it unconditionally closes the game.
But it's great that you solved PBW problem by using something other then Joy8 for exit which is what I suggest to every one having PBW-UVP problem.

ah great idea i've actually got my exit key as E on my cab and it works like a charm every time i never use the esc key at all. the pause button is both pause and exit.

Hey todd, very nice build.
I'm in the final design stages of my Minicab/pinball-mame hybrid.
I'm curious how you handled a few things, if you dont mind me picking your brain for a few minutes.
I'm using a 24" monitor for the playfield and a 19" 4:3 monitor for the backglass. I'm planning on putting in 2 joysticks and 6 buttons each for 2 player fighting games basically.
I have an old control panel I built for mame back in the day and I've measured that I can fit everything I need in a space of 24 by 9 inches. What I'm worried about is figuring out a way to access the mame wiring and smoothly transitioning from the glass over the playfield to the mame control panel section with the buttons. I'm also concerned with figuring out a way to access the mame wiring (I'm not planning on having a coin door at present).
So is your control panel removable, or on any type of hinge? Are you using a lockdown bar between the monitor and the control panel? I'm considering just using some metal profile trim "T" pieces to connect the two. I'm just curious what you did on yours.
Cheers again on the build,
It looks good!

Been a long time since I updated this thread but last weekend I scored an Ultimarc SpinTrac. Here is a pic of the SpinTrac added to the MAME control panel on my PinCab.

Now it's time to set a few high scores in arkanoid and tempest!
I tried to play TRON, but my button arrangement isn't very close so it's difficult to fire the tank's gun in the tank maze game.
Yeah, my MAME controller is removable but it's about 1.5 inches higher than the *bottom* edge of the playfield monitor so there is a small gap there. (hardly noticeable) I have two latches on the underside that I can reach by opening the (not really) coin door on the front of my pincab.
Best Regards,
Todd.
