Haven't followed this thread for a while - is the new FW (0.9) from the PinSound board already supported?

I've played with 0.9 and mode 2 for a while - so, I guess the answer is yes.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

To my knowledge there is nothing specific that must be changed to support it.

Yeah. You need to run 0.8 for that one. Or you could put audio in altsound and run mode 1.

wasn't there some issue with BSMT2000 based machines with the new pinsound in general?!

Might be. I tried a few different Gottlieb' when JP was released and I could not play any in 0.9. Ran fine with 0.8 though. Didn't investigate it any further at that point. I believe I found that Whitestars needed 0.9.

I hope they are not changing all sound packages to their new "scrambled" naming layout, cause that might also be a reason why the new pinsound does not work with some of the old packages (speculation from my side).

They did do that artificially in their new Whitestar support packages, that's also why sound mode "1" cannot play these ones back (although it could perfectly do that in theory, after all that's how it worked for example in VP tables like LOTR, Sopranos, Elvis and RBION, before emulation was improved over the years).

Yes, PinSound has changed up nearly all the mixes to use the scrambled layout.

sorry for a delayed response toxie , I do use visual studio and unity using a subset of the c# codebase, but i have almost zero experience in publishing something via visual studio myself so such a test would not be quick for me to do.i might tackle this only day , i want to really upgrade those two splash screen logos ;)

how do the setup.exe's know the version of pinmame? I dont see it stored in the registry under any key? I just spent alot of time to prevent my games installer installing vpinmame if it is already installed, but without a version number i cant say which is newer? I Might be using some features that are only present in a newer version of vpinmame, in such a case i would like to then permit the installation of the newer files ( i will try even do it to where they currently are ) so there are not two versions and paths set up will remain as they are for visual pinball etc.

on which question of mine do you refer to? i cannot remember the topic..

as for the splash screens: if you have some plain pics for me that you think are better than the existing ones, just PM them me, and i'll replace the existing ones or add them in addition..

i don't think the version is stored in the registry, but setup simply 'asks' the dll for the version.. don't remember the details though..

thanks  ,not to worry ,  i think you were helping me with something and at one point the version linked  here on the home page was out of date and you mentioned i can compile the source myself possibly to test right away.

Is the code for the setup exe also in public space somewhere so i can go dig around and try see how it does this?
