By that you mean people who donated to the unity purchase, correct?

I hope that is what it means, and that you are not accepting "new" donations for a table because that would be problematic around here.

:( so my small donation from two weeks back doesn't count? :(

The movies look good, cant wait for the beta!

About the reflection/darkish ball. Maybe it would be cool if you could add a photo of the ceiling from the room where the cabinet is standing in, that gets somehow blended in to create the reflection maps?  Just a crazy idea....

Well then I'm bummed I didn't see the potential earlier :)

I'm looking forward to the next release, I haven't had much luck with the previous version, learning curve is a little high for me right now

This may deserves new table options to set ball's color and reflection rate.

That would be much apprciated :-)

I really really hope that all tables are playable on cabs with a constant frame rate not only when having the most powerful graphics card available today...

Unity pinball is built on a modern game engine using realistic physics and high resolution graphics. While Unity is scalable I would not expect it to run on 10 year old hardware. A modern computer with a dedicated graphics processor and 2GB of RAM can be had for under $500. I can run almost every new game that has come out in the past few years on my laptop (Lenovo T540 with Nvidia mobile graphics processor with 1GB of RAM).

The world moved forward, You will need to upgrade. The good thing is, the longer you wait, the better computer you will get for your money.  We've had this same conversation earlier in the thread, I believe I even offered to send you something though I can't remember what the issue was that prevented you from accepting my offer.

Lol. I found it has been pretty laggy running cab view on different systems regardless.

Your system probably is playable, but it's not perfect. I think this is what you're trying to get at,

We'll have to see anyway, after all, it's alpha. I'm not overly impressed from the last videos. Bad FP conversions + the stickiness is still there on every wall & rubber. Believe me when I've spent hours adjusting physics for my builds, I just couldn't ever stop that, gave up when physmod surfaced and left all these from scratch tables dormant.

You're right Chepas,

walls and rubber materials need to be adjusted at import level, we'll improve that in the beta version.

After the beta is released, i  hope we can work together to make all those tables to be members of the download section.

Great, I don't doubt you can't do it. At the moment it's difficult to get right on the guides & rubber (friction etc)

I intend to finish all the games don't worry, they are just dormant & ready.

A GTX 660 is too slow? Really?

I've done tests of the BETA version on a rather old PC:

  • Quad core 6600 at 2.4Ghz
  • 2Go of RAM
  • Geforce 8000GT
  • win XP pro SP3

All tests were done in 1280*1024, AA x4 , FP cam

Here are the results for the Addams Family table (which have been reworked by Bilbox):

With all reflections ON , MED

Pixel lights : 200 => 37FPS

                        1 => 47FPS

                        0 => 63FPS

With PF refl OFF, FG refl OFF and balls refl ON , MED

Pixel lights : 200 =>45FPS

                        1 =>56FPS

                        0 =>84FPS

Will the Metallica table be made available in the future? I have been looking forward to it since I first saw the coming soon with beta release video on your website and I really enjoyed the video with the speedsculpting of sparky, that was awesome and after playing the alpha release tables i'm dying to try more and cant wait for the beta release...I didn't know I couldn't get it if I didn't donate, and its kinda too late now it sounds like?

Can you post some fps numbers at 1920x1080?

But the tests are in Desktop mode, aren't they? In cab mode with second monitor for the backglass the results are also the same? There should be a setting with which it's possible to get constant 60 fps otherwise it's not fun to play pinball. Of course, I can buy an ever better graphics card but only if this is really necessary and can ensure 60 fps in a cab...

I really really hope that all tables are playable on cabs with a constant frame rate not only when having the most powerful graphics card available today...

I could play the last released alpha completely smooth at 72hz vsync (the limit of my display) with everything at max (including in-game AA) at some insane resolution of I think 2560*2160 (could be mistaken, but it was more than 1080p) on my i7 920 @ 3.1 ghz and  GTX 770 4gb oc IIRC. Don't let the i7 fool you, this is the model from 2008 and should be outperformed by today's i5 in games. The 770 wasn't the fastest card available back then and now an 200 bucks should archive similar performance (IIRC I didn't even come close to 2gb vram utilization so this shouldn't be a problem as well).

Of course can performance should be lower. Best to wait and see until the beta drops, I can make some real benchmarks than that show GPU and CPU utilization.

A GTX 660 is too slow? Really?

Well yeah, it's rather slow when you try to play real games! And Unity3D is a modern game using a capable engine.

I don't know you and don't judge people on the internet off of three liners, but from where my broken ass comes from everybody that can afford a dedicated cab and even more so the space for it should at least in time be able to buy halfway modern hardware. Not that I hate optimizations, but by the rather slow rate we get capable pinball engines off of hard working enthusiasts like Team French I prefer a future proof over a fast one.

Hi guys.  I have a question about the new U3D pinball engine - How does it handle the physics of reverse angles, e.g. lower playfield in a game like haunted house?  I know that FP did not deal well with reverse slopped playfields - it was very poor.  Have you tested this out in Unity.  Do you have any insight ?  I have a Haunted House FP table that I never finished and may pursue it for Unity3D.  Just curious.  Looking fwd to the beta!
