Great... thank you.  Not sure how I got the beta without the most recent scripts but I appreciate the help.

This is the VP 10.1 beta developing thread. Please create a new thread with your problem in the helping area, thanks.

the error and background player is an issue with 10.1 .... wouldnt this be the place to talk about it??

This beta seems to be performing very well. I dont "play" much but last couple days i have been. thanks guys for this. The windowed forced full screen looks like a great speed boost hope this gets all glitches worked out but i can see it does seem to run much better.

I wasn't refering to your post haunt. Tapatalk fooled me somehow. I thought I read a post here about how to setup PinballX for VP9 and VPX or something like that.

Thanks randr. I think it's time to release VP10.1 in the near future. There are of course bugs in it but we are overdue with a bug fix update ;)

As for the true fullscreen issues: I think the main problem is that VPX doesn't support two monitors at the moment. I think you all have to wait until 10.2 because multiple monitor support isn't that simple to implement and VPM may needs updates too.

fuzzel,

I was talking with Randr for a while tonight... and he tested the true FS on his rig and its working, as far as not being forced into the background (he is still getting the rom error if DDraw is set to 1)....

so far he is the first to say it is working more or less....

we went thru setting he might have different  then me.... but after doing multiple things... I still cant get it to load on top... but he can.... I know you're not a mind reader or a psychic but what do you think is happening in his machine that isn't happening for the rest of us??

Ok I took a look into my crystal ball and it told me that it might be a driver thing ;)
Serious, I don't really know why it works on some systems and not on others. Another reason could be the display driver I don't know how much your system differs from rand's. Fact is that this feature is still a WIP until we solved the problem with multiple screens and how the extra controllers (VPM, B2S) access the screen. Especially B2S could be a problem because i don't know how it accesses the screen.

Well my setup has one 750ti used just for playfield only the backglass is driven from the on board video of motherboard and my dmd is pindmd2. It works perfectly in vp editor direct and in pbx it don't show a backglass but that may be a pbx setting at this point? Not sure didn't look into it much as it was getting late. Would be so great to at least get multiple screens going in vp before a release though! :) again great work guys!

Ah that makes sense. If you use different display adapters for each monitor it normally works but if you use one graphics card for a two monitor setup you will run into problems. The reason for that is that DX9 is designed to use one driver instance for each adapter. If you initialize the driver instance in exclusive mode (true fullscreen) and VPM/B2S also tries to access the screen it all depends on how the gfx driver handle such case. But even if we add multi screen support into VPX it probably won't work together with B2S.

Yeah kinda figure that's why it was working for me. No idea about implementing multi screen and how involved it is but I know everyone is more then willing to test anything you guys decide! Like I said it does work outside of pbx so it will work at least for my setup as is with a tweak to pbx I would think? Either way it's some great progress

the multi-screen support will not make it into 10.1. i won't have that much time in the coming weeks, and we want to get the release out of the door soon.

thanks!

Just worked out why launching FS works for some and not others. Launching B2S as an EXE loses focus and as Standard doesn't.

More info here:

http://www.vpforums....672#entry342560

Edit: I am not sure if there was a misunderstanding earlier from those people who haven't seen the issue first hand. VP10.1 True Fullscreen with b2s is working for all of us. The issue was only on launch. VP10 table player loaded, then the B2s exe launched, at which point VP player minimises. A simple Alt-tab to the VP player and the table and the backglass work hand in hand great. And as said above, by switching to non-EXE mode it is fine. :). Maybe that helps solve it.

ok... looks like the mystery has been cracked by atarian

http://www.vpforums....672#entry342560

bottom line is he found if he made the B2S open in standard mode (not EXE) the VP player would load correctly in true FS

now the question is, is this a B2S Server issue or is it in 10.1??

LOL.... ya beat me to it...LOL

ok.... i just tested a couple rom based games...

they work after setting the vpmame reg to 0

and set both the B2S's to standard load

both TZ and monster bash loaded fine

TZ having a much more basic B2S played smooth and amazing performance gain

MB has a MUCH more complex B2S and did not play well at all, had bad shutter.... I retried it with the B2S set to EXE and after manually bringing the table to the front, it plays super smooth with kill performance gain

I just hope the devs do what ever needs to be done to get this True FS working correctly, because the performance gain is so unbelieveable it to me is worth much more than any other feature todate

I also have to run b2s as an EXE to get a complex b2s to run smooth. I am pretty sure it is a simply a Windows thing. ie: 2 exes run, and the last loaded (ie: the b2s exe) comes to front. That means the current Exe (ie: VP) which is in real Fullscreen gets minimised. PinballX with a simple AHK should be a quick fix. If I get some time will try to do one unless someone beats me to it.

What type of "performance" gains are you guys objectively / quantitatively seeing or is it just the input lag / visual smoothness you are viewing?  In my tests with True FS, I am only seeing about a 2% increase in FPS and can get it just as smooth as with windows mode and all previous tweaks I've mentioned in previous posts / topics.

Jimmy.... I'm seeing over all from smoothness to I guess lag.... it all feels much more responsive and snappy... tight.... its a whole new animal on my rig
