@boslaw

Cool glad you got it working :)

yeah for win10 users the pc must remain in test (if you follow the original instructions it will activate this mode for you)

@jukedock

Yeah I will have a think about molex maybe make a little poll see what most people would want? :)

There is not an official sam version of the .dll yet so cant link to any thing yet....

Glad you like it all :) The bracket was all Noah.

I dont actually play pinball / virtual pinball or any game for that matter, Im just one of those people who rather program stuff then play it lol hehe.

Funnily enough I used to restore pinballs and enjoyed that more than playing the game itself!  So I do know where you are coming from.

I can not believe the display was only set at 50% brightness - I have dropped mine to 20% now and its pretty bang on.   I was thinking about putting behind some tinted plastic but no need now.

Off work today so may stick some pictures of my cab up.  Its decal day friday so I may wait until its finished - only took 18 months.

Russ, I have a question: If Pinball FX, Pro-Pinball and Pinball Arcade don't add PinDMD3 support, would it be possible to grab the frames off the screen?

It could be just a little tool that is launched before running the games, with a config that defines which portion of the screen to grab. That would allow us to use PinDMD3 with pretty much anything that comes with a static DMD in the future.

Follow-up question: Do you have the pinDMD.dll API documented somewhere? :)

pinball pro & pinball arcade will be adding support. Just taking a bit of time...

pinball fx still not heard any thing yet.

not really a fan of pixel grabbing is a very nasty way to grab the data. I think zen will support it once enough people show support :) might be able to get the raw data from memory like Macro does on future pinball?

API is here :)

http://54.148.129.10...v3/integration/

Basically just need to include the pinDMD.dll in any app you create and can use the .h / .lib when compiling your projects.

there is a main.c file with examples of how to use basic methods in the API

Thanks, I've seen the header file but somehow missed the example.

You serious about Pinball Arcade? It's been a few years now they're talking about cabinet support and don't do squat about it...

Last I heard from Noah they was going to support it. They are waiting for the next cabinet release or something? That is as much as I know :)

"Next" cabinet release? There is no such thing as a cabinet release, the most "cabinet" way to play TPA is through a mod that hacks the camera views, similar to BAM for FP.

Ref - The Pinball Arcade.

They talked about it quite a while ago and I asked them via Facebook (3 months ago) and the reply I go was a big fat NO to cabinet version.  Seems there is not enough people who own cabs who are willing to pay.  They are only really interested in Steam releases and mobile devices.

Plus lets face it - look at the quality of games produced on VP forums these days - I think they play better than TPA.  In fact I wish someone would convert Pinball X and VP9/X to work on my iPad......

Ok, a few things with my pindmd3. In Test mode it seems to work fine, some ROMs like Addams Family and Congo display the graphics, and some just music. But nothing at all displays when I start a table through HyperPin using Visual Pinball. Sometimes it just crashes me and I have to reboot. Followed the directions but I think im missing something simple. Any help would be great.

The tables you are testing in hyperspin are they the same ones you have tested directly in pinmame? Each table will need the Use pinDMD box ticked for the pinDMD to be enabled.

I thought checking thaq box in the Setup would be used for all tables, am I wrong? If I start a table directly out of Hyperspin I still dont get a display.

You need to check that box per table ie go through all roms you would be launching and tick the box.

Ok, maybe im just missing something. When in the setup.exe and the Setup Defaults button, it doesnt give an option to individually click which ones to use pindmd. I see the option to use pindmd, but it is universally, not per ROM. Am I in the wrong place to set it up? I should note that im currently using a small HDMI display as my DMD display. Does it make the conversion harder that way since the settings are already set a certain way? 2 1080p monitors and then a 5" 800x480 or something for the DMD.

Open VPinMame tool

Press "Test"

 - For each rom you want to play with pinDMD enabled

 - Click "Game Options"

 - Tick "Use PinDMD"

Hope that helps :)

It did thank you very much. However, I seem to still have another issue. Some ROMs, like The Addams Family is already checked to work with pinDMD and it does during the test, but not during loading the table in VP. The tables that arent checked have worked great, but this one was already checked and doesnt seem to want to display. In your thumbnail, is that the only things I have should have checked in the Game Options? Those 3 things?

Long as "Use PinDMD" is check, thats the only one needed for the pinDMD3 to be enabled. Are you sure your table is pointing to the correct rom?

Load the table and right click on the dmd and choose settings and you can view all these settings that way as well :) just to confirm your pointing to the rom you think you are.

Anything I've ever read from Farsight either here or on their forums has been that cabinet support is dead. If Noah has some insider information he can share publicly that would be sensational news!
