unbelievable!

Blew away VP and pinmame completly including the registry

Download new install files for both from this site

Installed both

Loaded a game, set the DMD where I wanted it, closed out of the game

The registry showed the correct values for where I moved it

Relaunched the game

DMD is half off the first screen AGAIN
registry is set to the wrong values AGAIN

WTF seriously WTF

Ok heres a little clue maybe

I resized and moved the DMD screen to right in the middle of the playfield, on the same screen (display1) as the playfield.
I even turned the border on

quit the game and relaunched, then the DMD was exactly as I left it!
Same position, same size, even still had the border.

So as long as I dont move the DMD off the same screen as the playfield its remembers.
so...............what does this mean?

Is this happening on a single game or all of them?

All of em and guess what I think I found the solution

I dont know if this is the solution to the problem, a removal of the cause or just a workaround or not.
Who cares so long as it looks right.

Its seems the Nvidia control panel software has some funkyass default settings that arent even visible by default:
First you need to select NVIEW control panel not the usual Nvidia control panel
then you need to turn on the advanced features -

That gives you access to these strange option, these boxes were checked preventing the DMD screen (in this case considered a NEW window) from opening on any other screen than the current one)

Wierd

I wonder if this feature doesnt exist in earlier driver version which is why you can sometimes only use old versions???
Lethal Weapon works now though, still testing others......

Yep that did it

Tested 5 more tables, after resizing and positioning the DMD onto the second screen, quitting and relaunching, the DMD was exactly how I left it on display 2

Stupid damn Nvidia!!!! Pinmame was obviously trying to open the DMD screen on the other screen but the Nvidia control panel was not allowing it to. The best it could do was half on half off! lol
It didnt matter what you set the registry or the script to, the Nvidia setting over rode it all and said "NO you cant open that on display 2 come back here!"

Only question left now is what happens when I add that 3rd screen!

Very interesting. I do not have the nView desktop manager software... hmm.. I can access something similar I think in my Nvidia control panel though..

Great, the more documentation the better!
Nview seems to be a feature only of the very latest Nivida drivers and it co exists with the Nvidia control panel
I dont know why they didnt just combine the two but whatever. I have two different cards and recently updated the driver on them both, both installed this Nview thing.

can you supply a download link for that nview desktop manager?
I cant seem to find a link and when I search for the software on nvidia's site it doesnt come up for Win7/Vista. However when I search the forums they say its not included and they dropped support for it sad.gif

Confirmed:

Nvidia drivers 258.96 working on dual screen cabinet on Windows XP. (250GTS)

- DMD saves
- Slight increase in performance over 182.50 drivers
- Future Pinball works fine with a slight increase in performance as well

It's nice to know that we no longer have to be 18 months behind on Drivers.

- Still getting stutter on The Party Zone Laugh attack.

I am going to start a new thread on this in the cabinet section.

IM out of ideas and totally frustrated

I set the registry values for that table to dmd_pos_x 1600
I set the registry values for that table to dmd_pos_y 278
I set the dmd_pos_x in the script to 1600
I set the dmd_pos_y in the script to 278
hit complile
Saved

I added registry values for that table to dmd_pos_x 1600 to the 'defaults' key
I added registry values for that table to dmd_pos_x 278 to the 'defaults' key

I launch the game. Its half off the edge of screen one - AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I check the register, sure enough - says dmd_pos_x 1026 dmd_pos_y 206
Script still says dmd_pos_x 1600 and dmd_pos_y 278 but launching the game sets its BACK to 1026 / 206

So something is doing this, ignoring what the registry says, ignoring what the script says..........????........

WTF?? Gremlins?

Im using a 9800 GT for the playfield (display 1) right now
Im using an old PCI ATI card for the DMD (display 2) right now

Latest Nvidia drivers, 1.6.0.something or other
Do i REALLY have to have a mouse visible on my cab to adjust EVERY table EVERY time I launch one? That just totally sucks, totally
Wil things be different when I get my big playfield monitor in?

Im off to go blown everything totally away and start from scratch

I have the EXACT same problem, and I am about to throw my monitors out the window!

i have been trying for days to get this working, but when I restart the emulation right after repositioning the DMD, BAM it goes back to an area between my first and second monitor.

I also monitor the registry, it adds the proper values, but when it starts up, BAM, the values go back...like something is overriding them!

I have also modified the table script to have the values of the dmd placement in there, but again, BAM, back to where it wants to go, not where I place it!!

Someone please help! this is driving me nuts!!!

I had the exact same problem, However the above didn't work for me. The Prevent windows from opening on other scrren was not selected for me. Neither selecting or unselecting fixed the issue.

I fixed the problem by going into the nvidia control panel under setup multiple displays.

The setting I changed was select the displays you would like to use, swapped monitors arround so that playfield was main monitor. (first monitor listed)

My issue was slightly different in that I am using the same video card (GTS250) for both screens.

how do you do that?

Ive got my playfield as 1 off my main card, DMD as 4 off my main card
Ive got my backglass as 2 off my crappy PCI card

My backglass is showing up on 2 which is good but the DMD always goes to 2 and not 4 where I left it.

Can you tell Hyperpin to use 'tertiary' for backglass instead of secondary?

Why does the DMD always go to screen 2, i cant run it off that because its my crappy PCI that I only want the backglass running off

Normally I have my pinmame monitor set to 'Default' in the pinmame settings. That works fine for my 2 screen setup. Have you tried changing it from 'default' to monitor 4?

Anything other than default and I cant see the DMD at all its just a blank area ???????
I did get it working by moving display 4 next to the display but the Hyperpin is sending the backglass screen to display 2 because its set to 'secondary'
I need to tell it to go to 'tertiary' or whatever (screen 3)

Anyone? Any idea?

The DMD and the backglass both go to display 2 and i have to drag the DMD to display 3 every time
Is there some way to force the backglass to display 3?

I don't know if it will help, but I have my playfield and backglass on one card and the DMD on its own card.

I just made sure to set the PF monitor to the default monitor in the Nvidia Desktop Manager and then right-clicked desktop, went to settings, and dragged the displays in the right order.

The backglass monitor must always be the second for HP to work properly.

Do you have them all set to independent displays or spanned?
