I too have gotten the ball behind the drop ramp a couple times, but the ramp lifted up and released the ball without a problem.
Yeah, if the system knows where the ramp is - the switches back there make the ramp lift up to let the ball through. It should normally happen right away without even waiting for a ball search. Perhaps if you get the ball in there early enough in a game and the system hasn't tried to move the ramp yet, it isn't sure if it should be up or down.
If your interested in adding gi to the table, i'd be willing to help you out with it. we could also eliminate a lot of the dropwalls from the island.
I have a new system for doing gi lighting that uses all lights for the pf gi and for the plastics gi. It will also work for the base of the island. it is what i am going to use for the bride of pinbot face animation.
p.s. I'm more than willing to help you out with the gi and cutting down the dropwalls on the island if you would like
The base of the island actually does use lights already. It wouldn't render properly if the top cover and bottom cover were both drop walls. I had experimented with doing the top cover as a light stack too, but the transparency didn't quite work right (especially without HD checked) - so as it came out: The base is a solid circle, then there's 1 drop wall for each island wall, and 1 drop wall for each section of roof over the paths. 11 pieces per position.
The only extra lights I tried adding where the inlane flashers, and I could see the light section drawing in top to bottom as it flashed, like it was going slow for some reason, so I backed off and left it out for now.
