Fish Tales 3.8 (FS):

I just started the table the first time on this PC. The DMD is upside down (same as on your screenshot).

How to adjust?

There must be any rotating entry in the script set to 1, because else (at value 0) the DMD would shown vertical on the rotated monitor and not upside down.
Check the scipt for the table init and search the line with the rotating command. It's line 372:

Controller.Games("ft_l5").Settings.Value("ror")=1

You want the DMD rotated left. Why? See above. So change it to:

Controller.Games("ft_l5").Settings.Value("rol")=1

Close the script and save the settings by File->Save from the editor menu.

With these settings the table and the DMD would be shown correct, if it's the first start of the table. But as the previous value is already stored in the registry, because you already run the table before, you have to edit the registry too.

Set the ror value in the registry to 0. How? See first post in this thread. You can, but you don't need to set the rol value to 1 there, because you've already given the command in the table script. That will set the rol value to 1 in the registry at the next time you start to play the table.

Thanks Yogiholzer for the insight in all this. But still no dice no matter what I do , despite doing exactly as told. I will try some more tweaking and get back to you again later.

EDIT: Made a slight mistake there. Works now! Thank YOU so much! biggrin.gif

Mmh? You see that I was able to rotate it into the right direction. I first wrote the answer, then I tried it by myself to make sure it works and then I posted. I made a mistake on my own by doing that, so it didn't work at once. I'm sure it should work for you as well. Make sure that you always refresh the view of the registry after changing any settings. Also try this: After changing and saving the table script, close the table and load it to editor again and check, if the changings are really made. Don't change the table script and the registry at the same time, but one after another.

Oh, just see that you edited your post. Have fun!

Thanks Yogi, for this post.
I have just had an example with Trout`s new FS version of Who Dunnit, where the dmd wouldn`t rotate, even after changing the rol value in the script, which is how I always rotate dmd`s.
Your reg edit guide did the trick cool.gif

Oh, I don't like what I'm reading here.
Rotate not working in the script, but needing registry adjustments.

The registry don't create features or settings. it just stores them. This makes no sense to me.

Changing the "Rol" value from 1 to 0 in the FS version by Trout of Who Dunnit doesn`t work for me.
I have used the rol value change in countless tables before successfully - so any idea why it doesn`t work on this particular table ??

Maybe if you run it once, it stores that value in the registry, and it cannot be changed unless you restore that value through the registry?

I don't like it, but that seems the correct answer.

The command to rotate the DMD is already in the table script of Who Dunnit Trout Mod 1.1. It's line 51. Just remove the ' in that line to activate it. I'm sorry I forgot the right terms. Please let me know.

Thanks Yogi,

The line has to read:

.Games("wd_12").Settings.Value("rol")=1

If there's no rol and/or ror setting in the registry made by a previous table run with different table script values, it should work at once, as it did here.

Any clue how to do this with the Twilight Zone Night Mod Full Screen table? I've tried placing the line to rotate the DMD in every possible place i could think to put it... but still no go. think.gif

I had to download the table first. Am I right you mean BALLY___TWILIGHT_ZONE___MEGAPIN___VP9___V1.2FSNM.Final.zip?

I had a look at the table script and tried this and that without success. Here please understand that I generally don't have a clue reading the scripts.

I've tried the registry method next, means I changed the rol value in tz_92 to 1 and that worked. Same in tz_94h.

Feel free to ask back here.

What about JP's FS version of Cirqus Voltaire?, i see an option in the script:

If Err Then MsgBox "Can't start Game " & cGameName & vbNewLine & Err.Description:Exit Sub
.SplashInfoLine = "Cirqus Voltaire - based on the table by Bally 1997" & vbNewLine & "VP9 table by JPSalas v1."
'DMD position and size 1400x1050
'.Games(cGameName).Settings.Value("dmd_pos_x")=500
'.Games(cGameName).Settings.Value("dmd_pos_y")=2
'.Games(cGameName).Settings.Value("dmd_width")=400
'.Games(cGameName).Settings.Value("dmd_height")=92
'.Games(cGameName).Settings.Value("rol")=0

But if i change the "rol" from 0 to 1, the dmd doesnt rotate??

It will rotate, you just need to set it for the correct game name and you need to have installed visual pinmame with access to write to the windows registry. cGameName might not be defined in his table - dunno.

The needed line in the script with the correct value is already there. It's line 63. It's the next line to the part of the script you posted.

(The last 6 lines of the part of the script you posted are commented out ( text in green, leading ' ) -> means they are not readed as script lines, but as comments.)

If it doesn't work with that script as it comes with the table alone, there must be a different entry in the registry, which isn't overwritten from the script, probably from playing another CV table version before. You should try to change it like shown in the attached screenshot. A short tutorial is in the first post of this thread. Search for (game name) cv_14 and set rol to value 1 if it still isn't.

Again... I am not sure why this thread is so popular. I think 2 or 3 of my DMD's were wrong, and they all rotated easily by using the 'ROL' method. I have not had to touch my registry once. Did I get lucky or something? I don't know what you guys are doing.

If it works for you Rawd, then don't worry about it - they probably changed the wrong lines or their windows registry is set to read-only or something for these keys.

I opened this thread a month ago or so because the first two FS tables I started to play on my new monitor (I had a 4:3 since then) showed the DMD rotated wrong. I used the VPF search for help and the result was, that the needed informations weren't to find easily, so I decided to open a new thread to concentrate informations and help into one thread. The number of views of this thread shows that it's (very?) useful. I already thought about to ask to make it sticky.

Anything to complain about?

I think this is useful help for people like me, who don't manage to script in vbs and can't easily manage registry settings.

No, I wasn't complaining. smile.gif I was just curious why some people would have this issue, and others do not. I know that this thread has been helpful to those with DMD rotation problems.
