Thanks for all the great feedback guys, I love the engagement and it really helps improving the software. I know what I wanted from the outset but it really helps with outside input.

Now, with regards to the search input/keyboard mouse...

I wanted something I could use with my own pinball cabinet, this is the entire reason I created this app. I don't have a keyboard or mouse attached (I do, but they are hidden away) so I didn't want to create something that required using a mouse or keyboard.

The entire application is useable with just 3 or 4 buttons - flippers left/right and two additional buttons, a select button and a button for queue. There can be assigned using the setup menu/input. You can reassign every action to a button or key in this menu. You can add a favourite by holding down the select button for over 1 second. I will implement using the mouse button to add favourite as well.

Of course if you want to use a keyboard and a mouse, that's all good, but personally using the buttons on the cabinet works well. The search menu doesn't need a keyboard, it takes a bit longer but you can definitely just navigate using the buttons - I use it like this all the time.

@floyd5 I'm not clear what you mean about the shift key on the search? I click on the search box and the keyboard works fine. Using shift is pointless anyway as the search is case insensitive. Apologies if I misunderstand the issue.

@beertent123 I agree the font is too small on the search input, I'll change that. Might also make it QWERTY as everyone is familiar with that layout.

Sorry if I missed anything you guys suggested, its a bit late and I'm almost through a bottle of red here...

Hi,
I think I need to assign my buttons a little better.
My keyboard is also not available by default (it is stored under the cabinet).
Of course, you don't need a shift when entering, but out of habit I always press shift.
Then, of course, the associated function is triggered.
Some other buttons are on c, s, 4, etc.
The search function is called to my coin button. This has the consequence that there a 4 in the search field on popup.
With the suggestion of input, as with the high score, all you need is the flipper buttons shift (for letter selection) and start button (for letter selection). Like now is also ok (I'm not so good with this input method), is just a suggestion.

I need to be more concerned with the program.

Greetings
Hartmut

Ok after using this quite a bit i decided to load 2000 mp3 files in to see. It really lagged the program.

It seems if i have less cards available the better performance. so you know.

I also did notice that when you search for radio stations it defaults to UK stations, i change it to Canada and it works fine but when

i reload the juke it goes back to UK.

I have a dedicated jukecab i built for my cave. It was using dwjukebox on a winxp machine worked ok but to add buttons was

not really possible with that software, so always used a mouse. Now that you created this, i purchased a win10 tower to implement your program.

So it is multipurpose too!!

Thanks again.

Hi,
How can I customize the YouTube search so that new search results keep appearing in a category? Right now, I always get the same results for a category.
Or is that by design?
I've already tried customizing it, but I haven't gotten very far yet.

@beertent123: Where can I bring up the cassette deck? Can I do that on the DMD screen, too? Can you share your input settings?

Best regards,
Hartmut

New version 1.0.92 is now on the website

https://rpj.cordax.net/#download

  • Improved large MP3 library performance with fewer rendered cards, cached metadata and no rescanning on mode changes.
  • Added radio stations and the Saved stations view now survive restart.
  • Added independent Radio, Video and MP3 favourites checkboxes under Setup → Playback → Start with favourites.
  • Updated the mode card labels exactly as requested.
  • Added actual CRT picture curvature on hi-fi skin, keeping the controls and bezel straight.

I was unable to test the 2000+ MP3 files so if this doesn't work let me know.

Ok gonna grab it and let you know wtg on this its amazing.

Ok so performance is fixed for sure. Not lagging at all with 1746 mp3s.

All working except the youtube display, it still only loads video at top with just visualization no hifi deck shows.

also noticed if you change visualization height % its not showing properly in the hi-fi skin

@beertent123 There is a crash log at %APPDATA%\RetroPinJuke\logs

On my system this is in /C:/Users/Kevin/AppData/Roaming/RetroPinJuke/logs/app.log

I'm a bit unclear from your description what the problem is with the youtube video. Mine looks like this:

4.jpg

On the setup menu / Appearance I have

Backglass skin: Vintage Hi-Fi

Show video / album info is ticked

Visualization: Stereo LED spectrum

Backglass layout: Centred media - visualization behind

Video width: 50%

Spectrum bar width: 50%

Visualization height: 100%

YouTube skin should be resolved, please try the new version. If the backglass was below a certain resolution it was falling back to the standard layout.

Success, very stable now it ran all day while I was at work.

Youtube skin working great now, it looks so right.

https://drive.google...iew?usp=sharing

You are very talented, thanks for giving this to the pinball community. I have a pinball cabinet but its windows 8.1 and dialed in to a tee as they say.

Your software however gave my jukebox new life. It will definately be installed on my pinball cab once I make the jump to update it.

I think you are almost dialed in to what you wanted to achieve. I am using this all the time, so if i find more nitpicks I will let you know LOL.

I could now actually update my jukebox to buttons now and lose the mouse. TYTY

More fun.

Not a nitpick but I just thought how nice it would look if the dmd was scrolling.

I still cant get the lights on the spectrum analyzer height% to increase.

If I lower the number i noticed that the entire box shrinks not just the spectrum bars.

DMD gets a bit neglected as I don't have one installed on my cabinet - but I'll see what I can do.

I've updated the app with a scrolling DMD. As previously mentioned I don't have a DMD screen so bit of luck if its working correctly. Looks okay with my testing though.

Update Moved track info on the dmd to the left hand side not centered anymore. No scroll.

If you could add room at the bottom of your backglass and allow for the dmd like it is in desktop with all 3 shared, you could just share backglass and dmd same screen?

For people with 2 screen cabs.

You can share a screen to show both Backglass and DMD (or indeed playfield) if you check the combined layout option on the 'Displays' setting.

I believe the scrolling (or lack of) you are seeing is because the DMD is the width of the monitor, and the text only scrolls if its wider than the DMD.

I added an option to set the size of the DMD (basically to help me test because I don't have a dedicated DMD screen) when I set the size to 600x100 (use the Logical resolution and bezel margins option) I can see it is scrolling.

Download v1.0.103 for this feature.

It doesnt seem to work for me I set the dmd width to 200 and still not scrolling.

I did also notice you lost the spinning cassette wheels in your update.

The scrolling dmd would not really be neccessary but those spinning cassette wheels are a must lol

I went back and check and the spinning reels have been wrong since 1.0.64!

That should be resolved now in any case.
