did you unblock all software when installing and also create an exclusion for the folder VP is sitting in for Antivirus / Defender?
The VPX program is not in Program Files or similar?

Yes to all.  I went back and checked individual exe and dll files to see if blocked and they are not.  Yes to the Defender exclusion and I have the VPX program in a Pinball directory off the main drive not in Program Files.  When you monitor your fps does it ever flash red?

I have micro stutter on most of the more demanding tables (like VPW).  I have an Intel i5 12400 and NVIDIA RTC 3060ti.  I have a 2k 144Hz Gsync monitor and a 75Hz back glass.  Some of the micro stutter I believe is being caused by the B2S (at least tested on Earth Shaker VPW, hauntfreaks backglass).  I do not believe B2S is all of it, however.  I have tried so, so many suggestions.  I'm running VPX (64-GL) 10.8.0 2051, and B2S server 2.1.6.  Best performance is Windowed, Vsync on.  I've tried checking full screen optimization stuff, Windows Defender, NVIDIA app settings, etc.   Does anyone else have this issue?  Suggestions?

I run a GTX-1070 on my cabinet. My Playfield is LG 75Hz FreeSync but seems to be (un-validated) GSync compatible.

IIRC, my various options mostly match what this guy on Reddit says:

Tldr: gsync for fullscreen, vsync on in nvidia, in-game fullscreen, in-game vsync off, fps cap below your monitors hz

I also wonder ... when you have a RTX-3060-Ti under Windows ... why run 64-GL (if not doing VR) and not 64-DX like me ?

My daily driver Intel-i9 desktop is RTX-4080 and full GSync all around ... but that's mainly for Steam gaming.

What is your 'maximum pre-rendered frames' set to?  If it is 0, move it up to 1 and see if anything gets better.  If no change try upping it to 2.  If still no better than no need to try 3,4 etc.

max frames set to 0.  I tried different values in both GL and DX and still issues.  :(

I have an Intel i5 12400 and NVIDIA RTC 3060ti. RTX-3060-Ti

I see that the Intel-i5 12400 also has a baby-IGP (UHD Graphics 730). Are you sure it's completely bypassed and dormant?

Windows-11 Pro (64 bit)

Game Mode = On

HAGS = OFF

Any "VPX Related" EXE's set to use "Performance GPU" ... which Windows should have listed as the Nvidia RTX-3060-Ti. You can also create custom entries.

In the B2S-Options, you set it to "use EXE" (might be TWO places actually). You should also see it declared in your B2STableSettings.xml for that table.

For VPX v10.8.0 64-DX, I always run as Exclusive Fullscreen Mode when playing for real (only temp exception is when briefly re-config-ing)..

I don't have VPW's Earth Shaker.

Would you be open to trying other VPW-releases I DO have like:

Star Trek The Next Generation - Wildman B2S (replaces my old version/set of many years)

Guns and Roses - HauntFreaks B2S (new to me ... also with Alt-Sound)
Fish Tales - HauntFreaks B2S (new to me)

Full disclosure ... these recent VPW releases do seem to stress my (old circa 2017 Intel/Nvidia) system heavily. I would even say more than any others I have collected over the years. However, they still run fine (even during Multi-Ball).

One more thought ...

While Intel-i5 12400 is nice, it's not like it's a i7 or i9 .

Be sure VR is disabled (or minimized as much as possible in Table options and/or script). Might free-up some system resources.

https://www.vpforums...topic=57592&hl=

And since you are running VPX x64-GL , I think that version still has an actual option in VPX-Editor to disable it.

The VR stuff is something that I did not know.  I checked the setting in VPX GL and turned off VR.  Also just in case put the VR stuff to minimal in the F12 table settings.  Still stutter.  I'll try to tables you suggest when I get a chance.  What seems interesting is that the fps monitor will show 143.x a lot instead of 144fps.  Not sure why some fraction of an fps is getting lost.

@Saybrook

As I told you, I have a system just like yours.

I5 12400, RTX 3060 TI 12GB, 16 GB DDR4

I have no issues.

I just tested Earthshaker VPW 1.0 with 3 screens.

VPX 10.80 GL 64 - 2051 in 3D passive stereo output, B2S server 2.1.6, DMD extensions 2.5, Pinmame 3.6 - 1227.

My Three monitor are 60 Hz

Only for test, try to set the monitors frame rate to 60 Hz for both

The 8 gigs of the GPU might be a bottleneck.
Try setting the Hz rate of the playfield to 120 and the backglass to 60 Hz (evenly divisible), and also try setting all Video settings to low end PC with 4096 max texture for a test.

I can't change to back glass monitor rate.  It only allows 75Hz.

About "video settings" print screen

I think that you know how to capture a image from your "video settings" screen with windows print screen capture function.

A .JPG file will be generate. Then, go to "VPF Image host" in the top left web screen. First choose the printed .JPG file

ps_t.png

and then, Upload and chose the second method by copying and paste the link

ps2_t.png

About the BackGlass "Monitor Frequency frame rate"

Most monitors should be work in at last in 60 hz.

Go to windows "system settings configuration"

windowssettings_t.png

and then to advanced screen configuration

windowssettings2_t.png

Maybe also you can change the BS monitor frame rate by Nvidia card configuration, but I think by Windows is better.

I have micro stutter on most of the more demanding tables (like VPW). Some of the micro stutter I believe is being caused by the B2S

Since you are still looking for fix ... I'm reviewing the thread.

Not sure how you came to this conclusion, but that seems to be where most of the troubleshooting is focused.

But let me ask ... have you actually tried running it with just the Playfield ... a Single screen cabinet and see it work perfectly?

I'm not sure what all has to be done to really remove B2S-Server from equation for a true test ... but I'm guessing something like:

- no matching .directb2s file present

- and a quick reprogramming of ScreenRes.txt

- Turn on the "No B2S" option is Prefs
- Drag VPinMame-DMD back to corner of playfield

... would be a start. ( I think ... not sure I ever had to resort to trying it).

If your initial hypothesis is correct, the VPW tables should run perfectly now.

If not, you likely have some other problem.

I was able to find out how to change the Hz of both the playfield and back glass monitors.  I changed them both to 60Hz. I also tried lowering the video settings and 4096 max. Unfortunately this did not help.

Thank you for the suggestions.  I'm not sure you followed my initial post though as I indicate that the B2S is a contributor but not the full cause.  As I play around more it seems like VPX sometimes does not detect the monitor's frequency correctly.  I've seen that with the frame pacing and it showing ~32fps on both GL and DX.  Then, after I did some monitor adjustments, it is giving me 75fps on the playfield like the back glass Hz.  Maybe I need to clear cache or something and start over.

1. Yes, my point. Simplify setup without it. Find real core-problem first (then start to built it back up ... one change at a time).

2. Based on my years of Windows-gaming ... I don't know that it does try to detect it. I thought the display sub-system was just there, and the games attempt to render onto it (the best they can).

3. Remind me how you are seeing FPS in real-time. I need to put some testing play-time hours on my VPW Star Trek -TNG install before I call it my one definitive version and remove my old one. Maybe I could do the same as you and monitor FPS?

Push the F11 key when in game and will show you fps in the lower left corner if you have a cabinet.  I disable Vsync so I can see how many frames my system is generating.  It is 200+ so I am trying with everyone's help to find a good clue.  I swear something changed within the last two months.  Maybe a Windows 11, Nvidia, or other update.

Thank you again to all for suggestions.  After trying many I think I am back to square one which is that the B2S server is introducing the stutter.  When I disable b2s in VPX and run Earthshaker VPW in VPX 64  GL, vsync, it runs smoothly.  When the b2s is enabled I get stutter.  I think it goes beyond the LED skips in the settings and running in EXE.  Next I am going to try reverting to older B2S servers.

I'm still running B2S-Server v2.1.4 . Seems to be a good-working solid-release ... so no reason to upgrade or mess with it.

EDIT:
In Nvidia Control Panel, GSync is ON for Full-screen on the Playfield LG-32incher.
On the LG-32 itself, enabled special "Low Latency" or Gaming Mode. This makes the monitor Sync at 75Hz (instead of standard 60Hz) . Also enables official FreeSync support.
It was only $260 3-years ago. It's not officially GSync compatible, but seems to be working as if it is (I think it's just not officially-validated so doesn't carry the name-plate/license).
