It is not like we don't know what is going on. People in these forums, except the leeches that makes packs for the idiots and very competent people in that actually know how to use this software. Putting up a machine / cab - whatever with hardware reacting from the software isn't ... still, just running an installer and pressing 'next' 'next'. VP used to be Win only. It is very close to becoming multi os. It is still not there - fully. But, damn, those devs of ours - they are awesome ! I for one is looking forward to NOT having to use any Microslop or Apples in my home - well, have to convince my wife of the last one.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

There is also a rumour that Windows next release will be subscription based like office.

I've been hearing the same. Given that auto manufacturers are trying the same thing, I'd say it's probably credible. Some of us will just run our old hardware/cars forever, and not have to worry about this. This PC just turned 15 this year. My cab is 11. :dblthumb:

I have Ubuntu on an old PC I use to play around with (at least 5 years old Ubuntu) but I am told the last versions of Ubuntu and other derivatives of Ubuntu (Pop OS, Zorin, etc) make going Linux a breeze.

I run Open office on this PC and it does everything I need that MS office does.

Looks like POP OS has the Steam Proton software include to allow the running of Windows software (does not currently support games needing TPM 2.0 requirements).  Might give this an install on the old PC and see how it goes.

Open Office rules!

I recently moved on to LibreOffice, it so much better than MS Office.

I vaguely recall that one of the recent upgrades (24H2?) for Win11 breaks P-ROC? So, no Cactus Canyon Continued?
Other than that, everything should work fine on the latest Win11 as far as I'm aware.

I have no problem with P-ROC, though I am on Win 11 IoT LTSC.
For a cab the only Win version I would recommend.

G'Day Trend Setters,

I now have Linux Mint and Zorin running on my test rig.  Both have has Steam, WINE and PROTON installed.  These both have great interfaces and make linux use simple.

There are still a few Windows games that won't run due to Anti-cheat but getting close.

I am now seriously thinking Zorin Linux for the Pinball machine.

With VPX for Linux, does DOF and DOFLinx have full support.

Yeah, I've got Ubuntu-v25 setup as a proper Windows-11 dual-boot on my cabinet (on it's own SSD). It's nothing like I remembered from 10 years ago (it's very nice now).

The Nvidia GTX-1070 and audio seems to work. So, if I ever have some free time (yeah right), I'll mess with it some more . But I've mainly been working on my Windows VPX 8.0 install. I've still got more tables "to adjust and validate", some need newer 8.0 version upgraded, and I think I'm ready for my second toy.

So, yes, I second your question. My list is something like this. If it doesn't yet, why would I play in there instead of on Windows-11?

Does VPX Standalone on Linux support:

DOF
Pinscape-Config

SSF-7.1

PinVol (or comparable)
