In Pinbot I can't advance planets well at all. On the PS2 version you could hit it with the left flipper, but on the 360 it's by chance from the left slingshot. That's the only goal I have left.

I have the PS2 version, and I have yet to figure out the correct angle to hit that danged advance planet spot consistantly. How do you make this shot?

As the ball is rolling down the lane to the left flipper, have the flipper up and let the ball bounce up a bit off of it. Then hit the ball towards the target with the very tip of the flipper. This is the only way I've been able to do it with any sort of consistency, but it's still a dangerous shot. If you're able to get all 3 drop targets down within the time limit, that also advances a planet. I *think* if you play 2-player then each player advances planets the same, so that gives you a much better chance. It's been a while since I've played this game, but this kind of makes me feel like giving it another try wink.gif

With that said, this is still one of only 3 goals (off the top of my head) that I haven't unlocked :/ I still need to do something in Whirlwind that I don't know how to do, but I don't particularly care for the table. I still need to make some high score on Jive Time, but I REALLY don't particularly care for that table tongue.gif

Oh btw I have the Wii version and haven't tried any others, so I'm not sure if this will work on yours.

I really wanted the williams collection for 360 but as of yet no UK release date. dry.gif

Yeah... same with other PAL regions such as Australia unfortunately. The game is going to be released under the name "Williams Pinball Classics" in PAL regions apparantly. I suspect that it will be System3 who release it but they could not confirm those details to press as yet (they also didnt deny) it, I suspect they are still tieing up loose ends with red tape at present. http://www.system3.com . They have the rights to the PSP and Wii versions for PAL it seems.

I have improved several of my scores by leaps and bounds, not the least of which being my Williams Challenge score. Numbers in parenthesis is how many table goals I have completed, out of 10.

Funhouse: 43,405,120 (8)
Black Knight: 8,466,410 (10)
Space Shuttle: 13,696,820 (10)
Firepower: 1,815,060 (10)
Whirlwind: 62,242,220 (9)
Sorcerer: 8,103,070 (10)
Tales of the Arabian Nights: 79,706,180 (4)
Medieval Madness: 108,350,410 (6)

Thanks Templar... It does sound risky, heck, most of the time, I nudge the ball away from that inlane because 90% of the time it has a tendency to zip or random bounce towards the outlane and drain there. But I'm sure actually trying to make the shot itself is tricky as well. Guess I'll post my scores as well now for what I have (Just got my new highest in Pinbot! I can do better, I know I can, but I need to practice more.) If there's one thing the William's Collection has taught me, it's how to nudge more and make better use of them. I hardly ever used to nudge before if ever, and now I'm finding myself using it to save the ball more often now, becoming a better player!

Pinbot: 8,718,970 (Basic Goals Completed, stupid Advance to Sun Wizard goal stands in my way)
Funhouse: 18,530,250 (Basic Goals Completed)
Black Knight: 5,994,940 (Basic and Wizard Complete)
Fire Power: 1,079,560 (Basic and Wizard Complete)
Space Shuttle: 12,469,940 (Basic and Wizard Complete)
Gorgar: 491,810 (Basic Goals Completed)
Taxi: 3,408,720 (Basic Goals Completed)
Whirlwind: Not Avaliable. (I haven't seriously played this table yet.)

Guess I'll go with the trend and post my high scores. And yes this game is good enough that it makes you a better player in real life too - I almost never nudged before and got a lot better at it. Number of goals complete in parenthesis.

Gorgar: 860,660 (10)
Taxi: 19,419,570 (10)
Pinbot: 4,726,170 (9, dang Sun :/)
Funhouse: 49,333,210 (10)
Black Knight: 6,250,040 (10)
Space Shuttle: 22,514,150 (10)
Firepower: 2,108,860 (10)
Whirlwind: 47,278,950 (9, missing some "Mega Door Bonus" that I don't know how to do)
Sorcerer: 6,750,870 (10)
Jive Time: 136,840 (9, haven't scored over 150,000, although ironically I did score over that before Wizard Goals were unlocked, but that was using that stuck ball glitch so I don't count it)

Williams Challenge: 191 (Pinball Wizard) and jeez Cysma, freakin' 394, sounds like pinball wizard to me tongue.gif

Here are my scores (Wii Version):

Taxi: 6,182,700 (9)
Gorgar: 993,620 (9)
Space Shuttle: 6,067,150 (10)
Firepower: 2,162,410 (10)
Black Knight: 3,172,970 (10)
Fun House: 28,856,930 (7)
Jive Time: 146,500 (8 )
PinBot: 3,590,720 (8 )
Sorcerer: 3,286,720 (8 )
Whirlwind 130,682,560 (10)

Williams Challenge: 295 (Pinball Wizard)... Hard to compare on this one since the 360 version has 3 more tables.

templarjh the mega door bonus on WW is done by getting all of the cellar awards.

I also have a real hard time advancing the planets on Pinbot, It works nothing like my real life Jackbot which is fairly easy to advance(cards instead of planets but an identical playfield layout) via the drop targets. The spot target on the right is just plain hard in any situation real, or sim.

I feel that it's worth mentioning that my Whirlwind high score was worth 93 points in the Williams Challenge!

PinBot is an awful table. It's way too easy for your ball to drain off the outlanes, yet they don't have any kickback feature? What!?

How many points on Jive Time do you need to get to advance on the Williams Challenge? You don't play that table in the 360/PS3 versions...

Same here Whirlwind was the majority of my points in the Challenge somewhere around 136 just from it.

50,000 is what is needed for Jive Time in the Challenge

I've read that Jive Time is somehow unlock-able for 360... Gamefaqs says you just need to complete the Challenge to get it so you should have it already.

Pinbot has wicked outlanes just like my Jackbot in real life so they got that right on the money, even if its borderline unfair. I can never seem to save a ball heading to the outlanes, does anybody have a nudge technique that works on Pinbot, real or in game?

On my last post I meant that you don't play Jive Time in the Williams Challenge, but you do unlock it for play after completing it.

And I had guessed that the passing score for Jive Time was 50,000 points, believe it or not! I've come up with a simple way to convert your scores for all the tables to the same scale, for the purpose of comparing your performance on each table. Just divide your score on each table by the following numbers:

Jive Time: 1
Gorgar: 2
Firepower: 4
Sorcerer: 10
Pin*Bot: 12
Black Knight: 16
Space Shuttle: 20
Taxi: 20
Whirlwind: 40
Funhouse: 50
Arabian Nights: 60
No Good Gofers: 160
Medieval Madness: 300

Does anyone else think that the in-game song "Pinball Dreams", besides having the same name as another pinball simulator, sounds a bit like The Who's Pinball Wizard? It wouldn't surprise me if composer Chris Kline did it on purpose, all things considered.

This is for the william's collection version of Pinbot. Well, I at least know how to make it stop zipping towards the left outlane most of the time when it comes out from the bumpers. Just give it an up nudge, or from the left after it bumps around a little, and that takes out most of the ball's speed usually. Most of the time if I see it heading anywhere near the inlane/outlane while in the playfield, no matter the speed, I give it a nudge or two in the opposite direction, or if I get the feeling it may be heading that way. I rarely get advanced planet through the left inlane this way, but I make my right inlane hits by making the ramp shots.

I found the angle to make consistant ramp shots by holding the ball stationary with the right flipper, then letting it slide down to the tip and hitting it. If the ball makes it past the bagatelle field and back to your flipper, you can just hold it again, sometimes giving it a gentle nudge in the opposite direction if it's going to fast I think to make it stop on the flipper. Just a smidge or so before this spot on the flipper to hit the ramp, let's you hit the 25K/50k/75k/Extra Ball spot consistantly if you can find the sweet spot.

Speaking of that last shot, once it's kicked out of that, if you give it a nudge from the left right after it clears the visor spot and it's just in the playfield, and you're holding up the right flipper, 99 or so % of the time it'll slide right into the right flipper, and hit the advance spot for that inlane. Combine that with the sweet spot shot from the last paragraph I mentioned, and you can consistently rack up points and extra balls if you're careful.

I think these are all the little tricks I learned from playing William's Collection Pin-Bot. Hopefully they're helpful! By the way, anybody have a trick or tactic for consistantly making the 100,000 skill shot with the plunger? it seems like a hit or miss, or a very precise (maybe too precise) spot with the analog stick.

Those tips are pretty much dead on with what I do - like nudging when it comes out from the bumpers.. When I play Pin-Bot I tend to go through 2 or 3 games with lots of draining until I get in the zone. On the PS2 version I could hit the 100,000 spot much easier than on the 360. Sometimes I hit it by pulling the stick back just a little bit and release really quickly, other times I hold it back a little further and longer and let up less quickly - it's not consistent at all. And on the 360 I can hit the ramp nearly every time, and if it keeps coming back to the right flipper I can just keep doing it over and over until I get the value way up. I love the challenge of pinbot - it's one of those tables that forces you to get better if you want a decent score.

I like Eala's version a lot, as well as the VP9 version of it Noah converted. One day I had the solar value up pretty high and went to lunch, and when I came back my boss had collected it and didn't even know how he did it. His score was about 10 times higher than it normally was. He thought he had gotten better really fast.

Cool thanks. How do you get all the cellar awards? lol - gah really you don't have to tell me, I can look it up in the directions, I just find it funny how I don't know this table very well.

Again this is with the Wii version so it may not work for you, but I bet you could fiddle around and find an equivalent. I put the plunger camera on 3, then pull the plunger back to where the plunger tip is just barely out of sight. Then try to release it without your thumb twitching. I still haven't found this to be 100% consistent, but I've hit the 100,000 shot 3 times in a row doing this.

wink.gif I love learning little tricks like this on tables. On the Taxi I played years ago in my dorm, if you hit the rightmost Lola target with the right flipper it was a guaranteed right outlane drain (left flipper was fine), but I've played other Taxis that aren't like this.

And in earlier builds of the table, Lola was called Marilyn and had blonde hair...

Man, that's a crazy taxi ride! How'd you like to ride with Mikhail Gorbachev, Marilyn Monroe, Pinbot, Dracula, and Santa Claus all in your cab at the same time?

JUST my opinion, and if others are having fun with this game, please continue to do so smile.gif
Obviously I do have to say that I barely tried it out. I played a few tables at a friend's house a couple of years ago, when it was released earlier (I don't remember which system but I'm pretty sure it was the ps2). The Wii version is not an update, other than having 3 more tables. The physics did not feel accurate at all. Especially since I've had a little more experience with Gottlieb tables since then, I wonder a bit at the table selection too. Where's Buckaroo? Kings and Queens? Sing Along? 2001? Centigrade 37? That's just right here off the top of my head.

The VP versions of those tables are more fun than what you'll find on the Gottlieb Collection. I'd say it's maybe worth a look if you can find it really cheap; I'd pick it up on a whim for $10, no more.

I have it for the PS2 and it's not near as good as the Williams. It has good tables, but I'm disappointed every time I play. I love "Black Hole", but this version doesn't cut it. The best on there to me is "Genie" and 'Victory". They're kinda fun. I picked it up for $10, but rarely play it.

IMO the real tables take more skill. I know for a fact that virtual pinball can improve technique, but I never do as well on the real deal. Good, but not as good. It's not quite as predictable, especially with ball-spin.
