Any ideas how to adjust volume on something like Dr Dude? It's williams but it doesnt have the full height DMD. It appears that end opens door, 8 moves through the menu, 7 selects direction. I managed to set free play but cannot figure out where or how to change the volume. It's way louder than my other tables making it unplayable on the cabinet.

Unfortunately, you can not adjust the volume of Dr. Dude, or any pre-WPC table by Bally, Midway or Williams using the ROM adjustment procedure in my Guide to adjust volume for DMD tables. The real tables had analog adjustment controls either in the backbox or the lower cabinet to adjust the volume, and these controls are not emulated in VPM as far as I know. The only thing you can do is adjust the volume of your speakers whenever you play that table. The only tables that you can adjust the volume on using the ROM controls (using your keyboard) are the ones that are listed in the guide.

Thank you. I'll set up something in the fplaunch.ahk for it.

Besides the End plus 7 or 8, and 7 for Data East games, remember that it could within the Visual Pinball screen. You go to Preferences within Visual Pinball - > Audio Options and than -> Music Volume and Sound Volume.

However, besides these there was something else about increasing sound, and I just can't remember it. I forgot what topic it was in. It had something to do with that DMD thing, and it seemed like pressing a F1 - F something button.

Is there a way to save the options after you set them i tried to start the table again but they seem to go back and im using hyperpin

Is there an adjustment for Gottlieb/Premier tables?

Unfortunately, there is none. All my research on those tables led me to the conclusion that these tables used analog controls to adjust the volume. Looking at a couple of System 3 manuals that I have indicated the analog controls.

That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure. Thanks!

so i guess the Fast Draw music pack does not work?
press endkey 9, 8 etc...
endkey dont work for this.
did not work.
i cant get the FastDraw music pack to work.

No chas. You can not use the 8 and 9 keys on this table to adjust the volume or get the music to go. The rom being used is from a Gottlieb System 80A table which used analog controls to adjust the volume. You need to place the music pack unzipped into the music folder, then make sure in the table script that there are events in the table that reference those music files. Without the proper scripting, the music files won't play.

tried everything.
tried endkey, 0/8/9 for the rom and 7.
has all the table sounds.
the QDraw and ELbueno mp3 music pack extracted/unpacked in the vip3click samples folder.
the 3click installer has a music and a sample folder for music.
used the samples folder.
pinmame config default was to the samples folder.
ill take a look at the sound/music in the script.
thanks.

chas,

you have to put the .mp3 files into the Music folder, not into Samples.

i have pinmame music/samples configs set to default ->samples in the vip3click installer.
all the other music seems to work.
this seems to be the only one that dont work.
should it work as long as the pinmame configs are correct?

chas. Your questions have nothing to do with this thread. Music paks or mp3 files have nothing to do with setting the DMD volume.

Pinmame has nothing to do with playing an mp3 file in Visual Pinball. The Samples folder has nothing to do with playing an mp3 file in Visual Pinball.

In your Visual Pinball folder, you need a file named "Music" don't use the quotes. smile.gif

Do you have a file named "Music" in your Visual Pinball folder?

Place your mp3 files in there.

The table script will then handle playing the mp3 file.

Do you hear the mp3 files in my tables? For example. The Beatles. Do you hear the 13 mp3 files when you tried that table?

i use the 3clcik.
there is a music folder and a samples folder in the 3Click.
copy/pasted the music into both folders.
if i remember correct i tried chnaging the path from samples to music.
still did not work.
put it back to samples.
mp3s dont work for "fastdraw", "elbueno" and "themachine."

have not gotten around to your new Beatles table in 912.

Does anyone know if you can remap the keys used for adjusting volume... well the open/close coin door key anyway. I am building a cabinet using and using joy2key to map my buttons (all working except 'End key'). ?

I have managed like many to remap the flipper to sort out the Shift issue, and would like to do the same for the End key so I can easily adjust for tables like Medieval madness. So close, dont really want to shell out for ipac having gotten this far.

Will try xmapper and see if i can get j2k to work

Any help appreciated smile.gif

I can map the end key using joy2key on my computer, is it not letting you do it on your's? Another option is to open the VPMKeys.vbs file in your tables folder and change the coin door key to something else...

OR as I assume you are using a gamepad of some sort (by the use of joy2key), you can try my custom build of VP (which is more like a preview build as the changes will be included in the next official build) which includes gamepad support (link in sig below)...

First of all thanks for the preview build it has solved my coin door/End key issue.

In case you or anyone else is interested I am using a cheap usb keyboard encoder THT i think is what it comes up as purchased for $30 aus with all the necessary cabling supports 2 players 10 buttons each plus joystick directions. I originally thought it would be programmable like the jpac in my mame arcade. When it arrived it ha no software, hence I went searching and found joy2key and xpadder.

So far thanks to your help I have all the buttons I need (so far) mapped and working well. Except for 1 problem, the Exit menu in Hyperpin. The best result I can achieve is to scroll down in the selection but not up, keeping mind both directions on the wheel are working correctly. With the current setting I cannot change the selection at all in the exit menu.

I am positive (happy to be proven wrong) that the answer lies in the settings.ini file of hyperpin under keyboard.
I have mapped my right flipper button to the M key which apparently corresponds to 77 in the Flash Action Script Codes

below is the section of my settings.ini

[Keyboard]
Key_Delay = false
Start = 13
Exit = 27
Up = 149
Down = 77
SkipUp = 191
SkipDown = 90
Flyer = 70
Instruction = 73
Genre = 71
Service = 9

Like most of the problems I've encountered on this project (which is coming along very well smile.gif) I am sure the answer is simple... I'm just tired.

Let me know if you need more info

BTW note to self must stop writing 'all working except' its just a jinx

Thanks again

Are you using a current version of FPLaunch? Try changing the following entries in the .ini file... (below is what I have in mine, your's will differ)

CODE
[FPLaunch]
...
upKey=joy10
downKey=joy2

OK I am now using the latest version (as far as I know) of FPLaunch1.295wip9. Which is great with the load screens etc, but still hasn't fixed my problem of navigating up/down in the Hyperpin exit menu.
Joy button 3 mapped to left shift (L Flipper) is still working in the wheel menu as is Joy button 1 mapped to M (R Flipper)
On first load of FpLauncher the following code was appended and changed to
[FPLaunch]
upKey=joy3
downKey=joy1
...[/code]

e is mapped to another button and works for exit
but I just cant get the up/down to work in the exit menu ... very frustrating
I have even tried editing the AHK to match.. and reverted it back to default as recommended after testing.
Tried mapping to buttons not mapped to keys in joy2key
I have noticed that the [Keyboard] assignments in settings.ini seem to override the FPLaunch ones at the bottom. As I set upKey=LShift and downkey=Rshift and it didnt work with my keyboard (keeping in mind I left the keyboard settings as above.

any more suggestions? all your previous advice has been bang on and I am sure we are close.

Thanks again
Nat

Apologies to the board if my queries have now diverted abit off the topic

Try the same in the pbw section of the ini, using 1 and 3 (instead of joy1 and joy3), as that should work for any gamepad, not just a pbw controller.

OK so I went to the Pinball wizard section of the ini did as instructed. Must work for any gamepad but mine sad.gif no luck
