There was a limit here before (free account). I remember when I was setting up my vp9 tables it was 10 tables a day but backglasses and wheels didn't count towards the 10 limit. I can't say what year that was, but it wasn't recent. I don't download enough now to worry about it.

Look, I've been feeling exactly the same way for a loooong time. I fucking hated watching our resources pillaged and tables modded without giving back for years. Resented a lot of people for it, still do. I just have to get this shit off my chest, so I can get back to doing what I do around here. It's a bit dusty, but it takes motivation and support to have the WANT to do things. I've had neither for a very long time, and a lot of it has to do with the way this community has been manipulated. It's time the truth gets out there, and there's only one way to do that.

All you have is a bunch of new people wondering why the head of the site is always bringing up old business that doesnt involve them. Look to the future, not the past. And your own new policy says that you dont own any of this stuff so live by your own words. No one can steal from you what you dont own?????

It seems like according to you stuff was stolen from JP and others, but I never hear those guys complaining about it, so maybe it doesnt bother them that bad or they have gotten over it or its more important to move on. You are the leader of this community, be a leader. I am a senior leader in the US Army. I have been a leader there for probably just as long as this hobby has been around. I used to make rookie mistakes as a leader, but the best way to be a good leader is to grow and learn from the past so you dont repeat it. Move on as you said, build a table and lead this community.

You obviously haven't been paying attention to how JP and others feel, just based on some recent posts. You obviously don't see the irony of Dazz freaking out over the VPD site when he, himself, got his start the exact, same way, and you clearly don't see the irony of keeping content out of the hands of people selling it by putting it behind a paywall. Open your damn eyes and get off my shit for being human and expressing myself. It's about time I do, in my opinion, so you being so condescending and dismissive shows the lack of respect the current environment has fostered.

Lastly, you obviously don't see the value of the truth unless it applies to you. How convenient. For 13 years, I've made it all about the community. I'm taking a mere fraction of that to express my concerns, expose hypocrisy, and get this off my chest, so I can feel proud to be a member of this community again.

I don't need the last word, but thank you. I do try to always do the right and honorable thing. It doesn't wipe the past or clean the slate, it's just how I choose to live my life. Right is right, wrong is wrong, and I'll stand beside anyone who's being wronged. No matter who it is.

Emphasis mine. Exactly my point and problem. Having a paywall on entire sections is no different than disk sellers. Hypocrisy at its finest and why my stomach turns.

Unless I'm missing something, you can download with a free account at VPU. When I remember the 10 a day limit here, I remember you said it had to do with bandwidth costs. I'm guessing Dazz is doing the same thing. Although someone downloading more than 25 a day is either trying to build a collection overnight or copy the site's files.

Its a VIP section. I dont think there are any tables in there that arent available somewhere else. Its a section that you can upload special mods that most people work really hard on and dont want just freely distributed around the world. It would be like me modding a table the way I like it and then sharing with my friend. None of the money that is taken for that section goes to any of the table builders so Paul is lying again, its not like pack sellers at all. And I dont know what Dazz does with the money but I am sure that it goes back into the site to pay for it and all the upgrades to it, thats why VPU is latest and greatest and this site looks the same as it did when I started this hobby. We have no problem with helping out on a site that we love. Wait a minute Paul. My first year I donated money to this site. Why is it ok for you to take money?

I'm lying? Are you kidding me?! LOL ... DE-LUDED. It's been discussed several places there's a VIP/subscriber only download section. You really, really need to wake up. You're attacking the wrong guy.

 

Since 2012, our subscriptions have been entirely optional. Everything is free and unlimited, which is the way it should be. What we did here in the past was a learning experience, and now I know better. It was also a matter of survival of the site at the time. Now, I'll pay all of the $800+/month out of pocket if I have to, as it's never been about making money. It's about supporting a freeware hobby.

 

Before anyone gives Dazz money, I'd point them in the direction of a pack seller, honestly. At least they aren't being subversive in their transgressions.

I've stated multiple times I've said all I have to say, then folks come along trying to defend this crap. It's indefensible and, to me, reprehensible. He started VPU the same, exact way VPD started ... taking without permission, reverse engineering against the wishes of the VPM team, and hosting unauthorized MODs of content taken from here without meeting the MOD requirements in the name of 'exclusivity'. Why exclusivity? To make money, of course. It's dirty pool.

 

VPForums is free and will stay free for as long as I'm alive.

 

It's a shame you're all so immersed in what you believe to be true that reality takes a back seat. Sign of the times, I guess.

I never liked that patch system from vpu. It was a "shity" way to make mods of tables without asking the author.
