Stupid question: on the missions that are like, "Collect 5 <blanks>", what targets are we supposed to be shooting at?

Stupid question: on the missions that are like, "Collect 5 <blanks>", what targets are we supposed to be shooting at?

 it's explained in the dmd, there will appear 5 3d objects on the playfield. if you hit one then you can hit another.
