he's probably having the same problem as me. every time I start 10.7 the layers tap is hiding the properties tap, so I have to pull it down. And I can't figure out how to keep it from doing it every time.

Dock your layers tab in the center between the two?

also do you run VPX in an oddball resolution when running a table that is different than your full screen rez that you would edit in?

doing that can tend to mess with the editor layout a bit

I will try to do the same layout as you have in your picture and see if that helps.

I run the 3840x2160 on desktop and in game. (i do run it through a remote desktop so that could be the problem then)

if your remote desktop session goes in a different resolution than non remote, yea it can make the editor layout shift
when i play on my laptop in a modified view, the result is the editor looks a bit beat up when i use it next

i change vpx to full screen when editing a lot on my laptop

But yes when i flip it like this, 3 screens on 1 screen, and then go to edit
it messes up the editor layout

On mine the "LAYERS" section appears on the right side of the main window that shows the playfield instead of at the bottom and there is no "Prefrtences" section that is viewable.

THANKS to all....I guess I'm still new to the 10.7 interface. The Properties window was hiding behind the Layers window. I docked the Layers window at the bottom and sure enough....there is the Properties I was looking for. Thanks again.

10.7 you can dock those all over the place, or use them like i do, undocked on 2nd screen

10.6 they are just stuck how they are and there is no layers window at all

For us dumbos, please do following simple steps to adjust table brightness ( Day/Night Cycle)slider.
1. From Windows desktop open your 10.7
2. File>open>choose a table and double click
3. Then you need to find Properties Tab-it could even be hiding behind the main Editor box.
4. Then using mouse cursor drag the Properties box open, mainly drag down until you see a Night>Day cycle slider.
5. Drag slider to desired brightness.
6. Test table by then clicking PLAY arrow in still open editor.

Enjoy, guys, I’m a dumbo as well but people like Weisshund will always follow a problem through to a resolution for you, as a matter of fact, he will ask others and they ALWAYS help us out.

To answer the question,

I must be the dumbest person ever.  Using VP10.6.

I cannot, for the life of me figure out where the day night slider is located.  Can anyone give a step by step?

You want to launch a table directly from vpx.

When the game starts, then hit the esc key

A "Paused" box will appear.  Hit tab key to get to "Quit to Editor". Once there, hit space key.

You're now at VPX Menu.  On left, there will be choices.  Select "Options"

This will bring up a "Table" box.  You may need to lengthen box at the bottom to reveal Night Day cycle.

Make whatever changes you want in that area.

Once done, hit the "Options" choice again on the left to make the Table box disappear.

At this point, if you want you changes to be permanent, at VPX Menu, select File and then Save.

Hope that helps..

It took me about a half hour of frustration, but I have finally seen the night/day slider for the first time. I had two issues:

1. The tabs on the right were at their minimum width, so barely visible at all. I could only see the 'P' of Properties. On a display with any resolution at all, the sweet spot to find the left/right slider between tabs is apx. 1 micron wide. I kept trying to find some other way to make the right side visible. (Maximizing the window is no help with this issue.)

2. As mentioned above, the Layers tab was perfectly hiding what was underneath.

Whoops! Too much english.

I'm assuming this isn't normal behavior, but wanted to check with those on this topic.  I'm using 10.7.0 and the night->day changes I make are not being saved.  I check the "use this slider instead of default button", change the slider accordingly, test to make sure the table runs with the brightness I like, then save the table.  However, when I close and load the table back up, "use this slider"  is no longer checked and brightness is dark again.  I noticed certain other setting I made weren't saving either... but some do.  Same thing happens with a 10.7.2 build as well.  Any ideas?

Thanks

That is because you have a POV exported, and that data is in the POV

make your changes, then click file export POV

dont worry about saving to table file, POV overrides table file

It's nice to see that you can change the ambient brightness for the play field. Is there an equally easy way to increase the brightness of all the other lights on the playfield, pop bumpers etc? Might be nice to have some kind of color selection for the ambient lighting in the future. I miss all that lighting customization from playing Zaccaria pinball. It looks amazing. I guess i didn't realize how spoiled I was.
