Is anyone here running an HP Reverb G2 headset for VPVR?

yup :)

->
Reverb G2
i7-4790K @4.5GHZ
RTX 3070

Awesome!

I'm about to buy a prebuilt computer because I can't get the damn video card, and now they're talking well into 2022 possibly! So the system I'm looking at is this one...

CORSAIR VENGEANCE a7200 Series Gaming PC

Ryzen 5600X, RTX3070, 16GB

Already have the G2. But a little concerned about the B550 MB after all the issues with USB drop out. From what I read, it seems AMD released a fix. Any advice??

Also, how's the RTX 3070 performance in VR pinball so far??

Thanks!

vpxvr is running smooth with the rtx 3070, its an ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3070 OC
the price has more than doubled here since I bought it 3 months ago o_O

I won't recommend an amd-system, got several friends bitching and complaining about problems with multiple games (and other performance issues) for years, who are running amd, while all these games worked like a charm from day one on mine.

The mentioned Ryzen will sure be fast enough, but i share your concerns about possible "ryzing" :P issues with the underlying hardware.

how are you running your G2 atm and how it's performing?

I have a i5-6600K Skylake Quad-Core @4.3 GHz (from 2016) and a MSI GTX 1070 GAMING X, and 16 gigs of ram.

It is fine for FX2 VR tables (haven't tried the new Star Wars tables yet or the VPX VR tables). So not sure what to expect. But The older VR titles I have are fine. Just can't play Alex of course. Sorry about the AMD news. The 5600X kicks ass! The intel system from Corsair with the RTX3070 card only comes with the core i7 11700 (not the K). Otherwise, I'm into a stupid expensive 3080 setup!

I've been doing AMD in recent couple builds and they dont really have a compatibility issue. I mean I have ran into less then a half dozen over the past few years sense using them. The incompatibilities are usually in community based free ware like emulation or VPX type games. I've ran into a handful of emulated games that will have issues. It's not like the whole emulator wont work but you'll find just 2-3% wont work with AMD. The VPX VR issues seem to be worked out as I'm back to using my AMD card with no issues as far as compatibility.

I have ran FX2 VR and the new Star Wars VR pinballs just fine with great performance. VPX VR runs pretty good but I have to watch how complex the rooms are and how high I run some settings. I also have used it for a lot of non-pinball VR lol Fallout 4 VR, Skyrim, SW Squadrons, IL-2 and most of the mainstream release from the past few years. It generally holds up. I do get some jutters and have to watch how much SS I give it but if I can keep it cool it runs ok. The last 2 years it's struggled to maintain but I recently went in and over clocked it as much as I could and rigged up a cool wall hole for it to sit in :) I was actually pretty happy with the results. Enough it's stalled me from buying whole new system.. but Flight Sim 2020 really makes me want to upgrade.. that sim is nuts and just crushes my system..

My system is old and in need of full upgrade. I built it in anticipation for DK2:

Windows 10

i7-4770K @ 4.6GHz

32 GB DDR3

RX 480 8GB

2 or 3 2 TB SSDs

Original Vive, DAS + full leather padding, Wireless adapter

That system your thinking about should do just fine. It'll be about what rez you run and SS settings and you'll be able to go pretty high for most things.. Other then that you'll chew up most things I'd bet.. other then MFS 2020 lol

What resolutions are you asking the RX480 to run?

It will still run stuff pretty good, until you start asking it to run the resolutions that are pretty much common now

at a 720p or 900p rez it should still do decently well.

Except for FS 2020

It isnt the video card you need for that (I mean sure it would help but)

It's 8+ cores @4Ghz

And for all that crap, no guns?
Blah

Poor performance, stuttering and crashing are still listed as the top 3 issues

Whomever's decision it was to abandon the CFS series should be slapped

Yeah anything at or sub 1080 on a flat screen it does pretty good. The newer games can amp up to a crazy amount of Vram so I wish I had more.. if I had more Vram it could do better in some games as far as trying to max graphics out I think. She had a good run and still got some life in her yet lol 8GB just doesn't cut it if you want to max out newer games. Thats why I want a 3090, its the real last upgrade I could try before committing to a full rebuild. And I could always use it for the next inevitable build :)

Definitely to get better flight sim performance it would have to do a full rebuild to newer hardware. That sim really is a system melter. I got a bit out of juicing the clocks and upping the Vram from 5.5 to 8 and 8gb to 32gb of ram but still it's not gonna do it lol flat screen i can get by but the VR they have hacked in my system just laughs at me.

I have some VR guns I made lol one pretty cool one was one of those hot shot pump shot guns controller things I modded out.. but after Valve broke the tracker and input stuff I kinda gave up working on them. They might work again. I could roll wayyyy back but id lose my wireless support :(

I had total crap for around 2-3 years when I first got it. It would crash randomly and no real rime or reason. It sucked. I wasnt even OCing it then at all. I tried swapping out basically all components except the CPU, MB, PS over time.. but it still BSODed way to much. So I finally put a 1200 corsair PS and runs like a raped ape all day now :D i think it just required a lot of clean power..

1200 is mad overkill for that system, but your previous PSU may have just been a bum supply all the way around, to the point that any good supply
would cure the issue.

If you get that system to pull near 1200 watts, look for the fire extinguisher LOL

Funny thing, my very old desktop game PC pulls a hell of a lot more watts
And creates way more heat than m newer one

The old one will literally heat a 10X12 room without exaggeration

Same with old VS new video cards
The newer ones do way more work, for less power.

That RX480 would make an awesome mini cab though, or even a budget 1080p full size cab with an older but good 1080p screen

VPX is a lot nicer on the PC than FS2020 in VR

I wouldnt fly in VR though, cant see my damned controls, 3 screens is good enough

I like overkill lol

I think my system pulls something like 600ish but I cant remember last time I metered it. I was kind of in a lets just nuke it mood and it was on crazy sale for last black Friday time period. I also had the 30 series cards in mind and I heard those suckers really need power so better safe then sorry lol

If VR worked with SLI I'd just do that but multi cards is a no go for VR witch is weird/dumb.. you'd think it would be a perfect fit sort of thing.. man if it did id stuff it with 3 more 480s! :D

Those cards were so cheap for a time. Great budget card that really holds its own for the like 160 i paid for it. and it came with like 3 free games :D in a 1080 cab it would rock..

I dont know what system could run Fs2020 VR .. seriously idk if theres a system that could run it with it maxed out while in VR.. if there is I'd love to try it and with a really good resolution headset.. thats the dream lol that and one of those giant gimble/sphere cockpit things :D man id be in that sucker all day

600 watts kinda seems on the high side there

I only pull about 525, and that's with 4 mechanical HDD's

too many non quiet fans non controlled and we wont mention how many USB controllers (but then those are externally powered so probably dont draw jack)

but maybe... Is that I7 power hungry?

I also dont have any case lighting or any of that stuff and LEDs can add up quick

I am not sure what would run FS 2020 in VR well, considering they are having trouble with it running well in plain old normal

running, maybe give it a few months for some patches

Still wouldnt be my thing

I am used to flipping real switches and turning real trim wheels etc

how "low" can you go in 2022? (buying a new graphic card is mad at the moment):

first setup: i7-4770s + GTX970

second setup: i7-4770t + GTX 1660 super

VR: Lenovo explorer (= windows mixed reality, bought for 150 euros)

minimal settings in vpx, 1.33 super sampling (set up in VPX rather than steam with the new version!)

most of the tables works really good. never forget to check the table options! (there are maybe some hidden overrides, costs performance)

My "benchmark" is VR Room Getaway Minimal (Williams 1992) v1.0 - this is the most playable table without any lags in 90hz

the difference between the gtx 970 and the gtx 1660 super is not as much you expected, mostly it depends more on bad optimized tables!

I'm having a fun good time with VPVR, i can't pump the graphics all the way up without major slow down, but it looks decent at what i can get and I'm digging it. Really can't thank all you people enough for making this possible. I LOVE THIS!!!

Asus Sabertooth z77 Motherboard with Thermal Armor (looks like a friggin tank lol)

i7 3770k (the best cpu there was in 2012, overclocked to 4.3ghz)

32gb Corsair Vengeance DDR3 (max the board can handle)

gtx 1070 Founders Edition (originally had a gtx 670 in here, anything above a 1070 would maybe see small improvement but mostly get bottle-necked by the old cpu)

My PC was a beast in it's day... 10 years ago lol. I still drool over it's internals, it's like an old muscle car. At 1080p It's still a gaming monster and can handle a steady 60fps on most new games with the highest settings. VPVR is making my rig feel it's age though, it doesn't like going over 1080p ha. I'm a bit of a pc enthusiast, but i've been pretty broke the past 5 years otherwise i'd have upgraded by now.

I've been using VP for years on my arcade machine, and have enjoyed occasionally playing in blurry VR, but the world just changed.  I just tried VPVR on my new machine and yikes!  It is now just about as close to the real thing as you can get.  I mean, stunning!

i9 13900K

RTX 4090

64GB RAM

Pimax Crystal

With 4K per eye QLED panels and glass aspheric lenses having virtually edge-to-edge clarity, no glare, no SDE, no blur, deep contrast, and saturated colors, I would say that as of this headset, VR has finally arrived, and VPVR has skyrocketed to very near the top of my favorite titles.

I had trouble running it on a steam deck (running linux) a while back, I will soon try again and also with windows.  I have other handhelds I need to try this with.
