Is there any remote possibility that I could use a raspberry pi to run a virtual pinball machine?

Depends on the PC

VP9 almost any functional non antique but too old for anyone to want PC will power a VP9 cab

and run the standard front ends

core i3 or older gen core i5 with intel 410 to hd4000 apu?
yep it works.
If it is an i5 with hd4000 graphics, you may even run some VPX tables, if you play with the graphics settings a bit

and you can run pinballX PinballX or Pinup Popper as your front end

Now if you do not have an old laptop and have a Pi already, i would say go for it, see how it works out, it isnt like it is a loss if it does not work so well
i mean you can always stick the Pi in a video arcade type can and hit it up with RetroPi and you got an awesome video arcade cab, and then you can fit the cab
with a really inexpensive used PC or laptop, VP9 takes next to nothing to run, and there are actually a good number of VP9 tables that look super nice even by todays standards

Big Bang Bar is an awesome vp9 table, Fishtales is also really good.

Grand Lizard, Fire Power, Xenon etc

Oh, i am assuming we arent trying to employ like a 43" 4K screen?

If you feel the need to empty your wallet in my direction, i don't have any way to receive it anyways

Spend it on Hookers and Blow

Nope, just a single 1080p screen for scoring and the very minimal visualization of what pins are still up. I think I'm going to give it a shot and see if I can get it to work

Neophyte,

Any luck on the Pi project?

I plan on taking a new style williams shuffle cabinet and gutting it, except for the pins/lights and playfield (switches), replace the electronics with a PC/VP/PBX and the scoreboard with an LED TV; in an effort to get the reliability up and maintenance hours and cost down.

Since I'll be only really be project the bg/scoreboard, really not need much power to pull it off, a Pi would really knock off a bunch of equipment.
