I restarted and I'm getting a puzzling error now. It says "oops can't find DOFLinx.INI configuration file". So that may be the cause of things not working. However, I don't understand how it cannot see it since my startup command line reads like this verbatim -

C:\DirectOutput\DOFlinx.exe DISABLEDOF=YES "PATH_INI=C:\DirectOutput\DOFLINX_INI\"

Each command is full file path and my doflinx.ini is located here - C:\DirectOutput\DOFLinx_INI

The backslash \ is at the end of the file path in the command line and the file is named DOFLinx.ini so why would it be unable to be found?

I'm assuming none of the file paths OR the file names are case sensitive?

You need to put the screenshot into a program like paint save it as a file, then add the File

The answer is in the DOFLinx.LOG file, please post it along with a screen shot of the parameters in your DOFLinx shortcut if you can't see the error yourself.

Windows paths are not case sensitive.  You have a pathing issue, the INI file is not where you are telling DOFLinx to look for it.

 Don't see options for pasting so will have to type - This is the .NET eror

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.

Could not load file or assembly 'Extensions, Versions=3.1.6816.20713. Culture=neutral. PublickKeyToken=null or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the specified file.

There are alot more details under that tab but any idea what the issue is?

As a follow up, here is my log file.

Have another question....I put all of the files under FX3 that are table name.fx3 under the DOF_LINX_FX3 folder. Do I also need directb2s files in there as well?

Some of those other parts of the error message contain the gold I'm looking for.

Without seeing the full message, and from the short log posted, I suspect you are still not locating your core INI file or have some fundamental fault within it.  I don't suggest acting on this until we confirm which it is from a better error message as they are two different solutions.

Regarding the folders, you point to where you want everything in you INI file.  From the guide the parameters are:

PATH_B2S_SERVER=

The path where your B2SServerEXE.exe is located.  The default is C:\VP\

This value can be set via real-time command or in an INI file.

This parameter is required if you plan to use B2S backglass files with Pinball FX2 or Pinball FX3.  A common place to find this file would be C:\VP\Tables\ if you have a nice neat VP setup.

The value must end with \

PATH_FX2=

The path to locate FX2 files in.  This value can be set via a real-time command or in an INI file.

The path can be absolute, ie C:\DOFLinx\FX2\ or relative from the location where the program executes from, ie if the program is in C:\DirectOutput and you have a DOFLinx_FX2 folder below that the value can be DOFLinx_FX2\

The value must end with a backslash \

Not setting a value or setting it to nothing means the FX2 files are to be located in the same folder as DOFLinx.exe

PATH_FX3=

Same as above but for FX3 files.

PATH_FX2_B2S=

The path to the directb2s files for FX2 games.  This value can be set via real-time command or in the INI file.

The path can be absolute, ie C:\DOFLinx\FX2_B2S\ or relative from the location where the program executes from, ie if the program is in C:\DirectOutput and you have a DOFLinx_FX2_B2S folder below that the value can be DOFLinx_FX2_B2S\

The value must end with a backslash \

Not setting a value or setting it to nothing means the B2S files are to be located in the same folder as DOFLinx.exe

  PATH_FX3_B2S=

Same as above but for FX3 B2S files.  If you already have PATH_FX2_B2S= setup, you can point this to the same folder.  About 90% of B2S files are the same between FX2 and FX3 and it saves having two copies.

These are my settings:

PATH_FX2=C:\DirectOutput\DOFLinx_FX2\
PATH_FX3=C:\DirectOutput\DOFLinx_FX3\
PATH_FX2_B2S=C:\DirectOutput\DOFLinx_FX2_B2S\
PATH_FX3_B2S=C:\DirectOutput\DOFLinx_FX3_B2S\
PATH_B2S_SERVER=C:\VP\Tables\

Yeah but I don't see that when I choose more reply options. I'd post a screen shot but....

Maybe a permissions thing?

What are the .FX3 files used for?

.FX3 files are the information required by DOFLinx for each specific FX3 table to have the correct forced feedback.

So where do the actual directb2s files go?

I'd love to post the error from .net but attach files isn't working for me

In whatever folder you set this parameter as;

PATH_FX3_B2S=C:\DirectOutput\DOFLinx_FX3_B2S\

I may be making progress. However, I still get the .net error , I guess Ill just type the whole thing out but NOW when I launch my command line for doflinx, hit continue after the .net error and launch fx3, the playfield for fx3 is black. If I go back and kill doflinx and rerun fx3 its fine.

Can you please repost your INI as it is when you get the failure message above.  I will then try to run with that file.
