So, I've read what feels like the entire Internet    , and I cannot find anything about reading keys from a D-PAD via DINPUT.  Plenty of stuff about XInput for Xbox controllers, and a lot around DirectInout for joysticks and associated buttons, but nothing abut D-PAD.

 

Happy to be guided if anyone has any pointers.

Not sure if this is helpful...but yes I remember reading the D-pad / POV Hat is reported different than an AXIS or a Button.

Is the DPAD and POV the same thing?  I can see how to get POV.  I'm happy to setup a test for POV and see if your DPAD registers by reading that.

Yes, the DPAD and the POV (Point of View HAT) are seen as the same thing.
