Where are the directions that talk about this file (DmdDevice.cfg) because I never heard of it..

try this

dmdext mirror --source=pinballfx3 –virtual-position=4000 35 1040 272

Lots info

DmdDevice.cfg is the config file for the .dll.

There is no mention of how to set the virtual DMD position for FX2/3 with regards to where it is placed (not grabbed from) in the BASIC instructions...

https://github.com/f...aster/README.md

Adding the x & y position and size in your example above makes sense. If I can only get it to run without saying no output devices found!

Unless it's because I typed "--no-virtual"?

So if I understand correctly... by adding "–virtual-position=" that enables the virtual DMD... correct??

Also how do I know when to use single or double hyphen before a command?

Apologies, but I've never been taught any of this.

I have colors on my DMD, but they are not the right colors while playing the different games. I thought l followed the instructions correctly. I could live with it the way it is but prefer not to. Any help would be appreciated.

I have attempted to install ColorDMD for years on my desktop VP system. It has never worked. I have followed it all to the letter. Still doesn't work. It's about the same as attempting to bring rain with a raindance.

Take a moment explain what you have done so far and maybe we can get you going

Ok...

1) Got the Beta of VPM 3.2.
2) Got Breezy's stuff.
3) Got the AltColor stuff, AltColor copied to VPM folder
4) Installed Freezy stuff and cpied files from DMDExt to VPM folder.
5) Ran the VPM set-up.
6) Did all the normal Rom paths, etc (unless I'm supposed to be selecting alternate ROM paths)

7) Did default and selected Colorize and External DLL and checked everything on the left except for "Double Display Size"

8) Installed VPM 3.2

9) Ran VPX - DMD still showing Orange for TZ Skitso Detail 1.2

I've run this over and over and over and over. Nothing has changed. Am I missing a step?

You checked all files to make sure they are not blocked?

Is this an LCD monitor or real DMD?

I have VPX running on a PC desktop to an LED monitor. Patched ROM file zipped and put in ROM folder. Pal file in Alt Color. I get one of two things:

1) An orange DMD

2) "Can't find gameavs_170c" even though it's right there in the ROM folder.

Basically, I gave up on T-Zone and started on Avengers. But that doesn't work either, basically because this just doesn't work.

Check what, exactly? Force is off already. DMD still orange.

Turning on "Colorize DMD" still doesn't work. Now there are two DMD's. Both orange. No other colors. One DMD works while the other one, when on screen, freezes your pinball action.

I even got to the point of uninstalling PinMame completely, reinstalling and running through the steps a third time. STILL AN ORANGE DMD.

Are you guys really reading what @outhere said many times already ? 1.72 - doesn't work. You need 1.71 !

1.72 is ok for one thing. To use dmdext to mirror the screen from fx3 with. Not for color !

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

Try this

Just put the 2 files in the vpinmame\altcolor\ft_l5 folder

No Patching needed

Tried it. Still orange for Fish Tales, same as every other game.

Tried to set everything in F1, ticking the appropriate boxes and restarted and it's still not working.

2nd DMD (Virtual DMD) shows up, also orange,

Yep. Switched to Freezy 1.7.1

Still orange.

A few things of note:

1) The only one working with color is Tales of the Arabian Nights -- but the color is completely messed up and is only reading four shades on DMD 1. Also...

2) The second DMD shows up (Virtual DMD) -- but the color is orange only on every game.

3) When I run the "Test" in VPinMAME "setup", the 2nd DMD (VDMD) shows full color -- HOWEVER, TOTAN is still messed up and the wrong color palate, T-Zone is pure black-and-white (I know there's a color version of it because I've seen it), Fish Tales is correct, Avengers is correct, and TRON Legacy is correct. They're all full color in VPMAME Setup and Test. Switching back over to actual VPX, however, displays orange for both the default DMD and Virtual DMD, so I have zero idea why the test runs correct but the other won't.

4) Color patching :Avengers" spits out a color ROM that cannot be found by the game -- DESPITE the fact that the rom IS present in the ROM folder AND has a matching "altcolor" file. I could sit here and patch the thing over and over and it will always kick back with "can't start gameavs_170c gamename not found".
