If I haven't mentioned it enough before...I absolutely praise Convert-it! By far my goto program for conversions of almost any media.

PS:Ive only recently gone 4k and am still testing but right now (series 3 i7 and 1060) I get 60fps with vsync in PinballX on my 4 screen cab. It ocassionly drops 1 frame when navigating games.

I agree! I really dislike when people say use x and forget about the other. I have both installed and flip between the two frontends but I agree try them both and choose the one you like best or keep them both! I mean why not?

Oh no there's another front end to try?  I've been happy with PinballX and was just thinking yesterday how fast it seemed.  My frustration with trying to run multiple front-ends is they seem to all want to store the media differently and I end up with many copies of the same thing.

Are you running the latest version? Again, PBX should have no issues with 4k. I run it myself and get 60fps.

I wanted to tryout PinUp cause the video looked nice.  Went through 2 of TerryRed's videos and everything looked right during setup.  I goto run and my playfield and wheel rotated 90 degrees to might right.  I guess when you tell it 0 degrees it assumes you really want a 270 rotation?  I set rotation to 90 for both the playfield and game select windows and only the playfield rotated.  So my playfield is now oriented correctly but the wheel is running vertical up the right side of my screen.  Haven't seen any reply to my request for help.  I'd love to see an open source front end and I'd just go in there and fix it.

 

BTW...I can't help but call this front end "Mr Popper's Pinball"....lol.

I love pinball x, mostly because its already setup.... I just recently discovered PUP packs and popper.  As for Popper, I want to give it a shot because of two reasons.  1 I get random table crashes in pinballx that I cant explain and 2.  I want the playlist customization that popper offers.  The one problem that I found last night is that it identifies the file type( VPX or VPT) to play the different versions of VP.  I have VP9, PM5 andVPX tables.  Pinball X has each different one tagged to the EXE file for each.  when I was adding VP and PM5tables to popper it "seems" like they get confused because they are both VPT files.  I may be TOTALLY wrong but is this an issue.

 

 

also, I am a rookie with computers and video technology.  I would like to make dmd videos and take a shot at PUP but I don't have the knowledge on how to capture or make videos.  I have made a few dmd videos from a second party online program recording YOu*ube videos but they are not customizable.  any advice?  thanks

I was weaned in this hobby on PBX about three years ago so naturally I have a fair amount of familiarity with it by now and I still like it very much. I like it even better with all the improvements that have been added lately,things like “favorites” , most and last played lists are much appreciated.. I am also pleased that we aren’t forced to update regularly as in the past...those forced updates really caused headaches....things worked just fine prior to the update then after lots of problems. For that reason I didn’t update for about 18 months and when I did I was very pleased with what I saw.

I also have PinUp System installed and use PinUp Player which is just plain awesome. I have installed Popper but just haven’t invested the time in learning it as PBX does everything that I need it to do. So haven’t been motivated to put the time into it. Everyone who uses it loves it...I’m sure that it is everything that it’s advertised to be. There is certainly room for two front ends. I will play around with Popper some more through the winter I’m thinking. I want to thank David and Terry for giving us PinUP Sysyem.....I think that this helped to motivate the PBX guys to make some of the recent changes and improvements too.And thanks to Tom for the PBX improvements as well. All you guys are awesome and very much appreciated.

Well, it was his choice and I personally am not going to engage in any front end name wars with people. Nor will he. Just letting people know it is another option.

I'm not blaming you but what if someone releases new software under the name NJR Vpinvol or a vpinfinity, what would he do? This is a relative small community, it's a shame if you can't respect other guys work.

It's definitely possible to have both VP9 and PM5 using Popper even though they both have the VPT extension.  If you haven't seen the wiki, it's great for answering some questions you may encounter:  http://www.nailbuste...ipinup/doku.php

 

What you want to do is in Popper's game manager, set the ALTEXE to the PM5 exe you are using for each PM5 table you have and then modify the launch script to use the ALTEXE tag.  Here's how set all that up from the wiki:  http://www.nailbuste...ator_vpx_legacy
