Have anyone been able to launch Pinball fx3 from pinball X?  I attempted to use the same settings as pbfx2 (with the new pbfx3 paths) but haven't had much luck.

Thanks!

Its on my list for the weekend to try out.  Well, more precisely, launch from the command line, then try PinballX.

Go over to PinballX.com and have a read.  It sounds like FX3 integration is done.  I will be trying it on the weekend.

FX3 Integration is done and works flawlessly, and it has the same cabinet support as PBFX2

I posted at pinballX but I cannot get tables to launch. I am using 2.41 and Tom's settings.

OMG ... where is the Weekend ... ToDo: Install ! :shok:

Thanks for Info !

Guys, are there Backglass Images / Files included ?

Hey Stat,

You have to disable Backglass videos and just use Backglass images in order for the Backglass to work in Pinball X. I had both and Pinball FX3 would not pull up any Backglasses until I removed the Videos from Pinball FX3/Backglass Videos folder.... But Pinball X does support PFX3.  Cab mode worked pretty much automatically by importing my settings and all the previous tables. There is one change from PFX2 to PFX3 though, in order to run the table directly from within PinballX you need to change the parameters line to this:

-applaunch 442120 -table_[TABLEFILE]

I posted at pinballX but I cannot get tables to launch. I am using 2.41 and Tom's settings.

FX3 (same as FX2) only supports backglass images, that is true, but if you use PinballX's included backglass display system, you do not have to remove the backglass videos, they work fine.

You can use all FX2 media files, since all tables are the same (minus four tables, which were not transferred to FX3).

For the new Universal tables (BTTF, Jaws, E.T.) stay tuned and watch the PinballX forum  ;)

Pinball X has an included backglass display system?  Can you explain where this is located withing Pinball X to get videos to work?  I understand that static images work but was not aware there was something built into Pinball X.  Thanks.

Yes it has. You can define the backglass display number (monitor) in the settings and copy the backglass video files and/or images to the corresponding media folders (e.g. C:\PinballX\media\Pinball FX3\backglass videos\*tablename*.mp4), then PinballX detects the backglass video and shows it during table selection. When you disable "hide backglass" in the game manager for one FX3 table (only necessary, when you do not use the built in backglass image viewer of Pinball FX3), then PinballX keeps showing the video or image during gameplay too! And a video always overrules an image, so when you have both images and videos in the media folders, the video always comes first. When you delete the video (e.g for performance reasons), PinballX shows the image.

I have never been a fan of Pinball FX physics, but after testing FX3 I have to say that they improved it significantly.

I like the way how they implemented cab support, playfield screen rotation every 90 degree, easy BG and DMD just enter Position and size of your DMD and you are done with it. You find the exact values in the registry (vpinmame).

So it seems that TPA is the only one without (native) cab support. .......

And the developers always searched contact with their customers and listened for their needs and wishes, priceless IMO!
Better forget Farsight, because most tables are implemented in VP, and this company ignores their customers and is in permanent search for money instead.
They have the working technology (see arcooda link above), but only sell it exclusively to a cab company instead of including it into TPA...

Strange, now have FX 3 and have to enter a Cab Code (already asked for that, waiting for answer),

but also i have FX 2, in Cab Mode ... should FX 3 then start also in Cab Mode, as some of you said ?

And cant buy the latest Star Wars Rogue One Table (for FX 2 to have it also at FX 3) ... Hell Steam ... :voodoo:

You'll need to launch FX2, then close it, then launch FX3. There's also a really weird bug where not all your tables will be unlocked in a session unless you do that.

Regarding the "can't buy it for FX2", I hit that trying to buy a table JUST BEFORE the launch... I think they've "retired" FX2 now, so it's quite possible we won't be able to buy additional tables to use in that.

Interestingly, I had the same issue with my desktop... until I did it using the pinball computer setup (both are set up for the same Steam account), at which point it worked, and began working on the desktop as well. Although if you contact Zen, they should be willing to front a new code, they did with me in case I didn't get it synced up.

Do you have any ports blocked via a firewall?  I had to open a few more ports, but I do have a separate network firewall, if you are only firewalled on the PC it should be OK as the program itself is whitelisted.
