That appears to work just fine but it affects all the all systems being detected by the Dof.....
can you make a separate timer for FX 2

Yes you are correct it will impact all systems monitored.

You could use a SUP_INI file or a message ("DOFLinxMsg PROCESS_TO_ACTIVE_TIME=xxxx" for before and "DOFLinxMsg PROCESS_TO_ACTIVE_TIME=2000" for after) using your 'Launch Before' and 'Launch After' options.  The effect being set this parameter for PinBall FX2 and set it back to default as you leave PinBall FX2 ready for any other DOFLinx monitored system.

Glad to hear you are up and working.

I have tried to set up these ideas

I cannot get either one to work, I have read the manual try different ideas frankly I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing or it would be working...

If somebody has time to charm in and give me some ideas or how to do this that would be nice

Still here, still happy to help.

So in PinballX setup for Pinball FX2 you will need to add a 'Launch Before' and a 'Launch After' path, command and parameters.

pinballxsetupfx2sup_ini_t.png

It should look like the image above with the exception of;

'Launch Before Parameters' is PROCESS_TO_ACTIVE_TIME=XXX where XXX is the number you discovered

'Launch After Parameters' is PROCESS_TO_ACTIVE_TIME=2000

Now I don't use Nukelauncher so I'm not sure if you already have a 'Launch Before' and a 'Launch After' command setup for that.  If so post a screen shot and we'll see about using a batch file or similar.  Others who use Nukelauncher may be able to help out here.

This is how I tried it but I did not realize DofLinxMsg.exe also has to be run as administrator....Then it Works
What method do you use to get around the user account control screen?
I tried this and I can not get it to work for your program but it works for other programs

What is the correct way to set up a sub.InI...-- ?

Nukelauncher Does not use  'Launch Before' or 'Launch After'

Hmm, sorry didn't think it would need to run as an administrator.  Its only sending interprocess mesages, nothing that requires admin privileges.  I learn something new every day!

I'm not much use to you here unfortunately, Google is your friend on this one.  I turn all of that shit off because it annoys me to death.  The user I run everything as is a local administrator .... but that's just me.

A SUP_INI file (supplimentary INI file) is simply a file with a series of commands sent to DOFLinx.  It is the same as sending a series of messages.  When you have one or two messages (in your case one), its easier to put it all on the command line as parameters.  Using a SUP_INI file will still require a message to be sent to DOFLinx with the name of the SUP_INI file, so it will not solve your messaging issue.

One other possible way you could send the message and avoid your UAC issues is to use a vbs script with the message in it.  There is a sample included with the release zip called 'SampleMsgScript.vbs'  if you;

1. Copy and rename that to something meaningful - twice, one for before the other for after

2. Edit it and replace OUTPUT_NOW_TIMER=115,1500 with PROCESS_TO_ACTIVE_TIME=XXX and PROCESS_TO_ACTIVE_TIME=2000 in the respective files

3. Use that as your 'Launch Before' and 'Launch After'

Windows processes vbs files straight 'out of the box' so shouldn't have security issues with them, although, dependant on your security configuration it may.  Worth a try to find out.  To test it, just run it from Windows Explorer.

Bottom line rule with virtual pinball....EVERY *.exe or *.bat for EVERy game / program needs to be run as ADMIN and EVERY DLL *.exe, etc needs to be unblocked (Win 8 or higher).

On a virtual pinball cabinet....you really don't need UAC enabled, as long as you are not going online for anything.  I personally NEVER have UAC enabled on all my machines...but I also understand how to avoid viruses,etc..

I am trying to figure out why i am getting the following message in the Debug console.

@MajorFrenchy the program checks for the FX2 file in the nominated directory first, then if that fails in the directory where DOFLinx started from.  It does this twice, once for the game name extracted then if that fails for the Default.FX2.  This means you are failing to find CaptainAmerica.FX2 or Default.FX2 in either the folder you start DOFLinx from or the nominated FX2 folder.  I strongly suspect that there is some subtle difference in the path you've told DOFLinx and your actual FX2 file path, ie spaces, other characters.

You could try, with one game, just placing the CaptainAmercia.FX2 file in the same folder as DOFLinx.exe, pretty hard for that to fail.  If that works, then go back to working on the path.

Feel free to post an image of your folder structure showing the FX2 folder and your INI file as the next step if the above doesn't help.

Just tested it and You are right @DDH69 it seems to be the path. if the config CaptainAmerica.FX2 is in the root where DOFLinx is installed it works. will work on correcting the path in the .ini

on a second note, anyone ever had this trouble when booting the computer?  my DOflinx is set to autonatically launch in my startup folder and i get this error

capture.jpg

i then need to close DOfLinx and when i manually restart it, everything works with no error.

Good news on getting the FX2 partially resolved, we'll celebrate fully when its all done  :)

The fatal message occurs when your parameters, ie the flipper (or other) port is beyond the number of devices / ports you have.  Your situation is complicated by the Sainsmart device.  Because Sainsmart devices can only be open by one program at a time, DOFLinx has to close your devices (yes both of them) in between uses.  I suspect the INI file is somehow being processed when the devices are closed.  So possibly a logical issue that needs some thought regarding timing.

Can you please explain in detail your setup around INI file(s) and when it fails / works, ie is the INI in the command line for DOFLinx, do you have one, or more, INI files.  I need to think it through very carefully.  Could you also paste a log from boot up to working as well (sadly no need to play any tables)

One thought so far, perhaps DOFLinx is starting up faster than your device drivers.  We could tell this from the LOG file as DOFLinx would startup without any devices being found at boot, hence any device, ie #1 will be grater than the zero devices found.  Definitely time to look at the log file from the boot up start of DOFLinx.

Hello,
I'm installing DOFLinx for the first time on my CAB.
Previously I used only Future Pinball with ledwiz. Now I want to use FP + VP + FX2 and I'm having some problems with installing DOFLinx.

Initially I will report the problems, I am testing first with Pinball FX2, I have a version with the CABNET option enabled, I have copied the memory mapping files from the tables to the correct folder inside the directoutput \ ... FX \ directory.

I joined the Doflinx.ini and edited my equipment according to the doors of my ledwiz (LWclone), because I have 7 solenoids, 1 shacker motor, 1 gear motor, 1 strobe, 5 channels rbg for flashes.

When I open some pinball table FX2 the shacker motor activates instantly, the gear motor also turns on and off, when I press the keys of the flipers the lights of flahs flash according to the key pressed, however there is no function of active solenoids and the Shaker motor is enabled and disabled.

I've already reviewed the ini file, I do not know what I'm doing wrong, if I post here can you help me?

thank you.

@Baronird2d, as per my reply to your other post, you need the Steam version of Pinball FX2.  As for your shaker motor, I suspect a couple of the sample output setting in the default DOFLinx.INI file correspond to your shaker.

I would suggest that once you download the correct version of Pinball FX2 that you start up a thread with your issues and those with experience in DOFLinx around here can help you.  If you still have the shaker motor issue you will likely need to post a copy of your DOFLinx.INI file and details of what is connected to the ports of your output device in your cabinet.

OK,
I bought the game on Steam. I downloaded it and installed it in my cab.
I checked and I had 2 doflinx.ini files, one in the .EXE root and another in the DOFLINX_INI folder, I just left the file I edited with my ledwiz port settings and now the engines are no longer getting active ... That is great!

However when I start DOFLinx.exe it returns me configuration errors on the bumpers outputs, I'm ignoring the errors and I get to the point where I activate the FAKE. With this I open the pinball FX2 Steam version, I get play, I have force feedback on the flipers, I have RGB lights, but I have no more effect of bumper or gear or shaker motor.

Below I leave the generated LOG and my DOFLinx.ini configuration, any idea what it can be?

Only had a moment to look at this, but if you are using DOFLinx 5.0+, you need to add 255 at the end of your feedback entries for solenoids, shaker, gear and fan.

So this section is wrong:

LINK_LF=106,150,2000
LINK_RF=107,150,2000
LINK_LS=104,50,500
LINK_RS=105,50,500
LINK_ML=101,50,500

LINK_BR=103,50,500
LINK_SH=109,200,5000
LINK_GR=110,150,1000

and should be:

LINK_LF=106,150,2000,255
LINK_RF=107,150,2000,255
LINK_LS=104,50,500,255

LINK_BR=103,50,500,255
LINK_SH=109,200,5000,255
LINK_GR=110,150,1000,255

I don't know if this is your only issue, but I noticed that right away.

Perfect!

That was it!
PINBALL fx 2 OK!

Now starting FP and VP configuration.

I have some FP tables with ledwiz, can they be executed together with DOFLINX or cause any anomalies?

They "can" run fine, but if DOFLinx has anything else running in the background (RGB undercabinet Lights, Flipper feedback via key_to_output,etc),, then it will "take turns" with whatever is happening with the LedWiz commands in the table.

I run them myself, no problem but I use a different FP system (in PBX) just for those Led-Wiz enabled tables. It runs a SUP file that has DOFLinx no commands enabled for flipper feedback,etc..   just for those tables.

That's one of multiple options....

BTW...you shouldn't need DOFLinx for VP...as most tables already have DOF support.
