I was thinking 30-45 days. I'm open to suggestions, remember wink.gif

[*]Table objects must be completed by the participant ONLY, though the participant may enlist help with the scripting. (Scripting helpers must be credited in the script and table info sections.)

Any chance you could extend helpers to graphics as well? There are many people that can code but can't create a graphic worth a lick. biggrin.gif

I think 2 newbies should be allowed to team up if someone doesn't have a certain skill.

I think it should be open to any VPF forum member, except judges of course.

I think Computerfrk1 should be forced to create one. smile.gif

I think they should be finished by Christmas, so the time limit would be whenever you release the contest table.

I think Destruk should have to make a VPM Original table. smile.gif

I think judges should be forum members who have never released a table.

I have zero WIP or unfinished Original tables, I never have 2 projects going at the same time. I work on one and when I get bored I release it and then wait for an inspiration.... I hope the contest table inspires me. smile.gif

I hope there isn't a ramp as a fixed locked feature.

It would be great to see some new Original table authors. I can't express how cool it is to create your own table, for me personally, making a recreation is like going to the dentist, but making an Original can be a lot of fun.

By the way, I'd be up for judging.

also have a system where people who have been members for some time (to stop people form singing up just to vote) to vote on tables as part of the judging.

Only VIPs, Charter Members, and subscribers will vote on them to avoid an issue with "double or improper voting".

Only VIPs, Charter Members, and subscribers may participate, because there are prizes involved....GOOD prizes. I'll announce them later.

The prizes not being "dividable" makes it a one-man contest.

You don't need fancy graphics skills to create a good looking original. I've used nothing but basic free image viewers/editors ( xnview and irfanview ) to create the tables I've built in the past and they look good enough to me.

I suggest a panel of judges with particular VP experience, each one geared towards a particular design aspect as well as their personal tastes in gameplay. I could, for instance, judge games for their realistic style of play.

I think VIPs, Charter Members, and subscribers should build and release at least one Original table. wink.gif

Then we would be rolling in original tables. smile.gif

I'd like to get involved in this if possible...but with my new job I've hardly had time to read the forum in the last 6 weeks (I'm only on today because I'm off sick!).
I think having an end time of around New Year would be good...nearly everyone has some holiday time between now & January...even if I'm only able to put 1 week in, it'd still be fun.

Agreed...although it's entirely Noah's call & I wouldn't think any less if he restricts it.

Agreed :-)

One other question from me...
...would we be restricted to submitting just one table? I know I probably won't have the time to make [more than] one, but it's worth knowing anyway.

Regards,
Dan.

# VP9 will be used.
# All starter objects must be visible and collidable.
# Non-licensed themes only. The theme must be original.

1. Why just VP9?

2. Why have these starter objects at all? It impedes an original.

3. Not even sure what this means?

4. Staff should be allowed and encouraged, if it's one thing I've really disliked in the scene it's this separation of users.

Just the overall theme, table name or something more esoteric...no copied sounds or graphics from sources other then that of the creator?

1. Doesn't have to be.

2. To ensure they aren't tables in progress.

3. No themes of movies, etc. It would be nice to see creativity.

4. Originally staff were going to pick the top 5 for voting, but we don't even have 5 sign ups. This was intended to be a signup topic, not a debate.

I'm heading to the Expo, so I'm closing this, for now.

Please check out a new contest HERE.
