As Dutch Pinball seem to be concentrating on building original pinball games they may have stopped this project.  Looking at the website they say 'pre orders taken now for August 2015'.  So this is way out of date.....

They are a proper company and of course will expect financial payment if BoP 2.0 for VPX appears.

As CCC has its own installer now, which makes setting up P-ROC really easy - I do not think it would be too hard to drag the files across from a BoP 2.0 to VP but it of course depends on what software they have used and if anything like a copyright USB dongle has been added....

Maybe either:
A few of us here who want VPX ask them how much they want and then split the cost.
or

See if they will consider selling the code via the DP website for VP use.

They spent a long time developing this software, so I can not see them just 'giving it up' for free.

The charge was $1700 for the kit, which included (I believe):  Proc PCB, PC (unsure of spec), new DMD board and colour screen, upgraded speakers, separate amplifier, misc cables.  I do not really know how much of this money was charged for R&D.

The way they may look at it is - 'we are not planning to do another run - we will may as well get a few more euros out of the project as a bonus' or 'no way !'.

I do not think we would damage the business.

Perhaps one of the administrators from the site could ask?  They could maybe get 50+ people paying for the software on a project that has finished (or been put on hold).

Any opinions?

I think it would be a lot easier to implement than you're thinking. Don't know if they'll allow it out if the code is even open. I know we could get the code no problem but beyond that idk. BOP2.0 is really cool and I'd love to play it in VP.

It's not as easy as dropping in a game folder like with the other "open source" projects. You will need to have half a decent knowledge of Python.

AFAIK this is still for sale, someone mentions here that they think that it isn't. I'm pretty sure this is an ongoing product.

I'll talk to Barry and see what he says.

We just ran speaker panel acrylics for this, so the project is FAR from done. ;)

Noah,

Would really like to hear any more news you get on this subject I didn't realise you were doing work for them, that's cool! I sent them a random e-mail a couple of weeks ago after playing the heck out of CCC... and wondering if they would be inters ted in seeing their came in VP. It actually lead me to try and chase down a real BOP machine. I even found one but it was out of my price range considering I need to add another $3K or so Canadian on top of the machine price to get a BOP 2.0 system over here. I didn't hear back, but really wasn't expecting to.

We do work for a lot of boutique and upstart pinball projects. Unfortunately, the Predator project turned into a total debacle.

I'll be posting a collection of our work here soon. A LOT of stuff people aren't aware of, as I'm not much into self-promotion. I've been told I have to get better at that.

I've already emailed Barry on the matter of a VP version. I can't see any reason to say no, as it will expose a lot more people to the project and likely sell more kits.

Stay tuned ...

Now you've gone and gotten my hopes up Noah! :)

Really appreciate the follow-up and please do share any of your other projects you've worked on when you can. I like reading about them as I'm sure others do too and I'm confident you'll present the information in a way that doesn't sound boastful so don't worry about that!

Oddly, nothing yet. Hoping he's too busy with TBL production, and I'll hear back this weekend.

Another title that would be cool to see in VPX... No dots though. Thanks for the follow up.

Haven't heard a peep from Barry. I'm sure TBL production is keeping him very busy.

I will choose to interrupt that as "no news is good news" :)

Thanks for the reply Noah, appreciate it. I hope someone puts a TBL on route close to me, would like to spend a little more time on it. It was a popular machine at Allentown. Do you know if Clay is getting one? I hope to attend another one of his events and would love to play it there, he keeps his games so well maintained.

Today I asked Jaap Nauta, project manager of Dutch Pinball. this was his answer:

Both games (BOP 2.0/TBL) are covered by a license so I think a virtual game is going to be difficult...

:hmm:   :unknw:

No TBL for Clay. They're $10K!

Give him a few years. ;)

That's only $13K+ Canadian... no problem :) Thanks for the info.

That is sounding less promising :( I understand TBL, but BOP seemed a little less far fetched.

Playfield on BOP 2.0 is same like on Williams' BOP, but it has different scoring and rules. It even has DMD, but it might be hard to emulate this table since it's a P-roc system pinball

p-roc emulation was already done with Cactus Canyon Continued, so that alone should not be the problem.
