What? VPX doesn't do it for you?

Yes, VPX is much better now in graphycs...comparing to vp6, vp8 and vp9...

But, If we look graphycs of SMDM in both , VPX and FP ,look HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS in VP and FP, SEAWITCH, FIREPOWER, etc, etc.. which one is nicer in graphycs, which one is closer to reality to our eyes?

I think, FP, but FP is unplayable!... thats why I asked for a kind of FVP (future visual pinball) or VFP (visual future pinball) or whatever  :)

But we cant complain...VPX is the emulator!!!

Well....that's only a question of redoing the VP tables with the improved scans/artwork from the FP versions (and in some cases modeling ramps and such), isn't it?

Is it possible to create a pinball emulator with the best features of FP (graphycs) and the best of VP (physics and rom support) ??

My Elvis table ;) Even better graphic than FP by a long shot , better physics than VP too. Am I blowing my own trumpet.. yes but not really. I didnt create the game engine I used. I used Unity5 which has a PBR renderer and Unity uses NVidia Physx 3.3. Im using VPinMame rom emulation as well.

Its just a case of using modern toolsets that are built to be the best ;)

Hi ! I want to share my physics setting for BLACKOUT (VPX version). I had a real Blackout, played it during 2 years, so I know very well its physics... then I sold it to buy a real Hotdoggin...

Here I go:

Getting Better BLACKOUT (Williams 1980) VPX  physics:

Try 3 coins with the actual parameters, and then with these changes, and then you tell me.....

Table slope: change from 6 to 5,5 (The ball will not  seem so heavy  :)   )

Bumpers Force: change  from 7 to 8,5 (bumpers are powerfull!  sometimes, the ball rebounds and complete a top rollover A, B, C)

Slingshots Force: change  from 5 to 9  (The ball will rebound from one slingshot to another, and will hit GREEN targets like in real life...perhaps will go into the saucer, too; like my real Blackout used to do...)

Slingshots Threshold: change  from 0 to 1,5 ( why 0 ??? the gap between switches is NOT SO BIG) Try 1,5 !!!

Flippers Friction: change from 0,25 to 0,1   (so the ball doesnt get glued to flippers...If the ball comes through the INLANE, and we have the flipper UP, it will pass to the other flipper because of its speed ! GRAVITY ACCELERATION !!!! )

Flippers Elasticity: change from 0,5 to  0,7  (the ball rebounds in a flipper and get served to the other flipper..it MUST REBOUND!!!)

If you dont know how to select the items, for example Left Slingshot, or Right Flipper, it is very easy: open a table and dont run it. We have buttons in the editor, at our left ,at top : MAGNIFY, SELECTION, and then a little TRIANGLE pointing DOWN. THIS IS IT!!! Click the TRIANGLE and a big menu with all the table items will appear. Select one item and change the values on your right (OPTIONS button must be pressed first! it is below MAGNIFY button)

Dont forget to SAVE your changes (FILE, SAVE) if you want to keep them.

I think that Blackout plays very, very, very well now...

I will paste it in BLACKOUT 1.1 VPX thread

The table still have a problem, may be a script problem...I dont know... When a drop targets bank is completed, the 3 targets must raise...always!!! In this vpx version, 2 targets raise first time, then one, and then NO TARGET raises !!! center bank in particular....

What is going on? is there a chipmunk under the playfield?

World Cup Soccer is pretty great on FP. I'm also a fan of Pincade's physics mod tables on FP.

I believe most drop target issues are fixed in the VP10.1 beta

I'd look at the inlane geometry if the ball isn't rolling over the flipper, 0.25 isn't a lot of friction to begin with

In VP10.1beta the drop targets banks do the same in Blackout vpx.

Ah, okay, gotcha

Find this part of the script

 Sub Sw25_Hit: dtCDrop.Hit 1:  End Sub
 Sub Sw26_Hit: dtCDrop.Hit 2:  End Sub
 Sub Sw27_Hit: dtCDrop.Hit 3:  End Sub

 Sub Sw33_Hit: dtTDrop.Hit 1:  End Sub
 Sub Sw34_Hit: dtTDrop.Hit 2:  End Sub
 Sub Sw35_Hit: dtTDrop.Hit 3:  End Sub

and change it to this

 Sub Sw25_Dropped: dtCDrop.Hit 1:  End Sub
 Sub Sw26_Dropped: dtCDrop.Hit 2:  End Sub
 Sub Sw27_Dropped: dtCDrop.Hit 3:  End Sub

 Sub Sw33_Dropped: dtTDrop.Hit 1:  End Sub
 Sub Sw34_Dropped: dtTDrop.Hit 2:  End Sub
 Sub Sw35_Dropped: dtTDrop.Hit 3:  End Sub

Thank you very much, nFozzy! Now the drop targets bank are working fine!!! The chipmunk under the playfield has gone home!     :)

Did you try my physics settings? Try them! You will like them!  :)

You are right!!!  VP is much nicer than FP...!!!!

But I keep FP (with BAM Mod  and "ZEDPinball" tables!!!) on my CAB...

I love FP "Mission Impossible"  (= NOT available from VP :-(   !!!!!          I love  "Six million dollar man" (I like the music from FP more!!!)    ...  I love the "modern" version of the Star Trek table from " Slam*** " (from Bally ?  from 1978 ???)  .... and I love FP Twister....   and the nice looking FP "BTTF"   ...  and "Slam*** "  Superman       ...  and of course I love the new Star Trek table (from Slam***)  and maybe 1 or 2 other tables...

I would miss them!!!!!  Just my 50ct :)

Nice videos!

Perhaps I will re- install FP in my cab...not for playing, just for watching the beauty of the tables. I would like  FP team to improve its physics.

Now, I am testing changes on VPX flippers physics. I think they are slower than real life, in all vp tables.

Do you like pinball? try this in the flippers options:

Change only LEFT FLIPPER so you can see the difference comparing to the RIGHT FLIPPER.

LEFT FLIPPER will not have LAG, or will be faster...

COIL RAMP UP: 0

RETURN STRENGH: 0,3 or 0,4

Press both flipper buttons at the same time and release them at the same time.

Play  the table.

If you like it, change Right flipper parameters too.

Using BAM Mod (very easy to install!!!!)  and ZEDmods (is included in some very nice tables!!!) it isn´t sooooo bad after all  (it´s NOT so good like VP9  but to enjoy Star Trek with all the nice movies it is REALLY FINE :dblthumb:

Unit3d seems to have less noticeable input lag when compared to say vpx. I think unit3d is going to be the way to go in the future.

The only reason i still have/use FP is because of the computer remakes...like Pinball Dreams/Fantasies, Psycho Pinball aso. I kind of like the toyish feeling that FP gives them! :)

When it comes to VP's physics VPX and Physmod5 does a fantastic job. I still se many new releases for VPX with pretty bad physic settings. like the slope is way to steep, to lille elasticy on rubbers...especially on the flipper, and also the table friction is set way to high. Me and my friends have at the moment 17 pins in our club, and it's easy to compare the physics wit the real machines. The newest we have is Game of Thrones, then Walking Dead, and the oldest is Rollergames....end everything in between.
When it comes to older EM and SS tables...the real ones is often very slow(and pretty boring ;) ) in real life, but that is how these machines were...and that is often another misstake many do with EM/SS VPX creations...WAY to fast, and pretty odd physic settings.

OK - Found one table that is better on FP = Midway's "Strange Science".  Looks much better on FP, as the old VP FS version looks like it was a conversion from VP8.  I also found adding Physics 2.5 xml really improved the FP 'feel', as well as upping 'Physics Strength' to 100% via the slider.

Found another 2 tables that definitely look better (and play about the same as the current VP counterparts). Stern's Flight 2000 and Galaxy.  I prefer the earlier, non 'ultimate' versions as the SLAM versions add soundtracks (but use 2.6 Physics) that take away slightly from the original 1980's feel of these two tables.
