So, I'm working on a little project, creating a "best of" list of originals from the VP8 and earlier era.  An assortment of antique goodies from VP's past, if you will.  The tables would be those still preserved over at IRP and PN.  Not sure where to post my roundup exactly, but I was thinking... right back in this thread?  Sound good?

Nice job guys keeping PN alive! I got to get used to it's new look, but very glad to see that it survived. PN is a giant part of the virtual pinball history.

Thanks, toxie.   JonPurpleHaze was the one who pulled it off, and I'm helping out as I can.  Indeed, after posting a couple of updates above, I wound up becoming full-time staff.  (Btw, here's a question-- is there a VPF staff-member around that can possibly add the word "NOT" to the above thread title?  As in, "PN is NOT going to shut down?")
 
But yeah, there's been a lot of stuff to work on over at PN.  For example, much of the resource-content (i.e. downloads) lost most of their identifying information in the 11th-hour software / hosting move, starting with authors and screenshots.  So I decided to toss myself in to reconstructing the "originals" and "flipperless" areas, since those are two of PN's biggest strengths as I see it.  But TBH, getting them back in to shape has been a long slog, ugh.
 
So far I've got most of the FLIPPERLESS resources done, but I'm also trying to work on the classic "ORIGINALS" section.  As in, all those brilliant, early-VP games that were so interesting, creative and fun, back in the day.  Now me, I happen to think a lot of them stand up rather well to the test of time, but who knows.  You be the judge.  Here's a couple collections I rounded up recently, if you feel like taking a look...

Oof... it's been almost a year now upon that last request!  Still-

 

Yeah, I know that Pinball Nirvana is -hopelessly- behind the curve on VP-stuff, but still, piece-by-piece, our team of highly-trained hominids have been working around the primitive of a 'time measuring rock' to polish the site up as a worthy preservation project of sorts.  Something like that, anyway!
 

Also, there's a certain unsatisfying complaint upon me being an uneducated slacker upon projects like this: (i.e. could it really be accomplished via mouse-input in VPX6?) (see my bitching / moaning notes)

All that actually happened was they shutdown briefly in order to update their website.  Their site is more up to date than this one.  

 

You should look for tables that I post.  Although I do add  keyboard controls, the latest 4 tables also include a menu system that uses flipper and plunger keys.

Yeap, the title isn't accurate, and hasn't been for a long time.

 

Seriously, I'm still not sure who's in charge of this site these days.  No offense, but it can be really hard to tell, sometimes.  All credit to Paul / Noah, but I would assume he got tired of micromanaging moderation shit a LOOONG time ago.
 

EH!... but maybe one day, years in the future, a "moderator" might appear, kindly correcting the title...?
 

You're right, though-- one of PN's specialties is antique tables.  People like @druadic, @romolo and a couple others keep up the energy, but also, people like @Itchigo regularly convert their efforts to FS versions, from what I understand.  Tim's / Itchigo's site is still be:

Bah!  Petty nitpicking aside, PN also seems to have morphed in to the leading FP-scene across the Innernet', something which I would never in a million years have predicted. (like... slow DOWN there, hoss!)

It seems "PN" (Pinball Nirvana) is now the official release and feedback site for Ravarcade (FP - BAM), SlamT1lt, and a bunch of other top FP authors in the scene, such as GeorgeH, Wild, Gimli, NitroNimbus, Polygame, and other good fellows simply clutching their red, dixie-cup full of vodka-mixers!

It *almost* kinda seems like FP has... jumped right in to the equation, no...?

Bah.  As always, Destruk has the final word upon this shizzle! (but where's been Brian, anyway...?)

It'd be nice to retire and build a ton of FP tables - since I can do that better than VPX it seems. At the same time, it'd be nice to retire and be able to spend time learning VPX as well... Maybe when the lad is born in may, I can start his pinball training early...

Thanks for the complement Ike. Much appreciated. I'm doing my best. Enjoy the new tables. Much more to come. Just trying to preserve the original and classic history and their art. Just something I enjoy. See ya at PN! PS: I just saw this and had to respond to your post. Thank you!
