Hello fawdown,

if you talk about the "quick auto installer", do you mean the Visual Install Package (VIP) by Phoenixx ? It should (normally) do a full installation, you just add tables and ROMs into the subfolders and off you go... If you run Vista just make sure you run the VP.exe as Administrator

I just had a new look into "Getting Started" -> "Installation Help", because I wanted to check, if the link to the VIP (Phoenixx Visual Install Pack) is still there, because I was in doubt, because of the last two posts. Guess what? It's gone! Anyone edited the "Installation Help" once again. Once again without letting me know and without request! Instead there's a link to a VP Installer now and the text is changed. That's annoying, especially as I thought that was cleared since the last time.

I think that behaviour is rude. No respect. Sure, the knowledge of installing all the stuff isn't exclusively mine, but I'm the author of the text of the "Visual Pinball (VP) and Visual PinMAME (VPM) installation/setup guide!". I started the guide on my own website (which actually isn't updated), because I wanted to write my own guide and make my own recommendations. The guide was added here, because in the "Tutorials" I only posted the link to my site, but anyone wanted to have it here directly and I agreed.

It's embarrassing that you can't let make an else not much contributing older member his very small contribution.

To make it clear: I don't recommend the VP Installer, although the "Visual Pinball (VP) and Visual PinMAME (VPM) installation/setup guide!" is now edited, as if I would recommend it. That's wrong! I still didn't test the VP Installer and because of that I can't and don't want to recommend it.

As there's no realisation, that I don't want to see one of my (small) contributions changed/edited, here's my suggestion, as I don't want to take away anything from here: Finally take over the guide fully! That only means: Finally remove my username from it. My control over the guide is taken away from me and I don't want to be connected to it anymore! Make that clear in the guide and then do with it what you want.

It hasn't been touched since then, Yogi.

Since when? I can be wrong anyway, but I don't believe that it wasn't changed/edited after the addition of WWWs video tutorial. Be sure that I wouldn't have added the text of the "Video Tutorial" part and "Thanks to WWW for this additional help resource!" to the "Visual Pinball (VP) and Visual PinMAME (VPM) installation/setup guide!", if there was the link connected picture of the VP Installer inside, as you can see in the attachment.

I can't and I don't want to prove the opposite. Just take over the tutorial/guide fully as I wrote, please remove my name and it's yours. That's all. I don't want to start a conflict here.

Hi - I just copied files and started the program as in the tutorial (except for using pinmame 2.2 instead of 2.1). Tried the dr who table which is vp8 compatible, got the roms, installed everything in the right directories, fired it up, looking at the table but none of the keys work. tried hitting both '5's to insert coin, tried the flippers - nothing. oddly enough getting the same problem in future pinball. don't see any obvious options or preference changes that would fix this. what am i missing?

Is the DMD displaying?

Are there any error messages?

What OS?

Any more information would be helpful.

With Windows Vista or Windows 7 you have to run both Visual Pinball and Future Pinball as administrator: find the VPinball.exe and Future Pinball.exe, right-click and choose 'Run as administrator' from the context menu. Additionally for FP you have to set a compatibility mode of 'Windows XP SP3'.

Sorry - yes, it is Windows Vista. No, no error messages. I apologize but I do not know what the 'DMD' is - I am very new to this and may not be up on the lingo. I can get as far as: launching visual pinball, launching the table, pressing 'play' to play the table, which brings up a secondary window with a graphic of the machine. From there nothing else works. None of the keys function during play mode. I've tried restarting the program and the table but with no luck. I'll try hgpinball's idea later and post results.

Hello Episode,

try this download link to a tutorial made by Tweegster: http://www.vpforums....u...l&f_id=4070 (the same link is in the Installation Guide as well, near the top).
Good luck!
