I got this up and running on my cabinet. I love this game.
I have a VirtuaPin with the Pinball Wizard kit, which yes, is a joystick not a keyboard encoder. By using Xpadder and x360ce I got all buttons, physical nudging and analog plunger working. I made some detailed posts about it here on their forums. There are other good threads there, too.
Yes, they have stated they will add cabinet support later, but I want to play now of course! Yes, I had to rotate my monitor in Windows first and run it outside of HyperPin. You will need a keyboard to navigate the menus unless you have tons of extra buttons on your cab you could use as arrow keys.
Right now you can't move the DMD to a second screen, so I had to make it tiny and put it in the lower left corner to avoid covering anything. You also can't remove the enormous pause and camera buttons, which is annoying desktop users as well and they are aware of it.
Edit: almost forgot - views 1 and 2 seem to be the best for a cab. I like the angle of 1 so I mostly use it, but it's just a hair too far zoomed in. 2 fits the screen better but is a little higher. The "event" cameras are annoying too (where it zooms in on ball launches and mini-playfields), but nothing that stops me from playing.
