Well if he's now working for M$ maybe we should be lobbying M$ to pay him to work full time on VP. smile.gif Maybe they could tie in their source code for TrueSpace 3D modeling, that they now own.

Unfortunatly, with the downturn in the economy, MS has decided to pretty much kill off TrueSpace. The Caligari site will be up for 5 more months, so download the program and the tutorials while you can.

I'll continue to use TS for my tables (it's not like it will stop working.. smile.gif ) It just wont be developed anymore.

It's a great interview with Randy, though!

Good job!

Kurt

Mr Davis,
I have to deeply thank you for the hours of entertainment I already had, with Visual Pinball, & now transmitting my passion to my five years old "sun", ehh... son wink.gif !
It is not obvious in the days to find a home hobby bringing fun to various generations, without violence & a lot of insanity.

"It´s more fun to compete"

Thank you Noah & Randy for that great interview.
From what I can gather from the various forums, VP has brilliant days to come! cool.gif yahoo.gif otvclap.gif

I also have to say thank you Randy for all the fun pinball times i've been having. When i was a kid i didn't play much pinball, but when the 90's came i loved pinball, and with the program you made i can play all my favorite pinball tables, because you can't find them anywhere. Now i just wish someday we can get the S.A.M. games to work, i know it will be a while but i hope it happens someday. Also Randy congrats also on your newborn. And thank you very much Noah for this very interesting interview, we all appriciate it. Randy don't be a stranger try to log in whenever you can we would all greatly appriciate it, of course whenever you can. Dave P.

I think PNG and especially some intuitive animation support would be fantastic.

I wonder if hacking in Flash would be the answer, as flash allows all sorts of picture formats, animation, and scripting. This would mean only one hack instead of many hacks for each image type, etc.

at the cost of the cpu power.

Randy has always been the man.... thanks... great interview... you asked all correct questions...!!

It's true... VP has been a great success.... and I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon. It's still the best pinball emulator/simulator there is.....!!!!

Here's for another 10 years...!

dblthumb.gif Thanks for the interview, Randy and Noah.

Next a photo of Randy for the gallery - the painting/canvas isn't that bad, but a photo would really mean an upgrade of the gallery - and I'm happy.

Big thanks to Noah for allowing both new VPers and the old timers a chance to catch up on Randy's perspectives on VP. The questions and answers flowed smoothly and covered alot of playfield for the curious.

A nice balance of tact and compliments that reinforces our deep gratitude for Randy's gift. Many generations of pinheads have enjoyed revisiting machines from our youth through his program.

The positive energy in this interview helped convey our ongoing gratitude and the enthusiasm that has never receded.

Wow what a great read! thanks so much for tracking him down and getting him for an interview! I am glad he still is interested in vp, also. I hope he finds time to visit and maybe stick around a bit. Wow 3-d vp objects! and directx10 supported (one can always hope).
Um, now that you can get a hold of him, how about asking him if I can redo his high speed table done by him way back when. I just want to upgrade the graphix on the table a bit, maybe a backglass of some sort, I had tried to find him a few months back, but had no luck. I am asking his permission to mod his table
Thanks again, though for the insight into Randy and his wonderful VP program, it was interesting and informative to say the least.

Thanks Randy, it would be nice to see you more involved but if not... we've still got visual pinball smile.gif

Great interview. And thanks again to Randy for the great program that has brought us all so many hours of fun.

I can attest that it is indeed all about the framerate; getting VP to run smoothly was a major goal of one of my computer upgrades, years ago.
